This one has us taking Crabree at 15. Can you imagine AJ, Schaub, Slaton, and Crabtree?

Judging from the playoffs, especially from teams like Pittsburgh, Baltimore, etc., I would much rather have a dominant defense. An average offense paired with a great defense wins Super Bowls. A great offense with an average defense might win games but will almost assuredly get knocked out when it counts the most.

That thing's awesome! When I did it, they had our picks as:
1) Taylor Mays- FS, USC
2) Darius Butler- CB, Connecticut
3) Rashad Jennings- RB, Liberty
I think I would love that draft but we didn't address our DL which I think is critical... at least our secondary should be completely finished and Slaton has a nice partner.
Maybe it knows we are going to sign Julius Peppers!![]()

Wow I just noticed Raji is available at 15. I have to change my cherry.
1st.) Raji
2nd.) Mack
3rd.) Jennings
FA.) Peppers.
Mario Raji Okoye Peppers
Dang... that would be a majorly awesome draft. I would LOVE it.
Another option would be:
1) Taylor Mays- S
2) Alex Mack- C or Shonn Greene- RB
3) Ron Brace- DT (the other run stuffing Boston College DT)
If you take Mack in the 2nd, we could probably find a decent RB in the 4th.
I like Mays and Green but think we can use Mays to bait a trade down with more bang for our buck.I edited the draft simulator . I kept Taylor Mays but I changed the 2nd round pick to Shonn Green and it then gave me CB Keenan Lewis in the 3rd .
Everyone is saying Peppers will be franchised but that should be a whole lot of $. Can someone give me useful info on the DT B.J. Raji? His team mate Ron Brace a D tackle has had 26 tackles and 2 QB sacks last two years but is never mentioned. If he could be had at a lower round, Brace may resolve our stop the run weakness & save us a 1st round. Brace is 22 YOA, 6'3" 324 lbs and is a senior. Info on either would be appreciated. Steve
Agreed Ron Brace would be a good pick up in 2nd/3rd... maybe even 4th? but, to me, he seems much more one dimensional than Raji.

I really like Raji b/c he has great size and quickness, very good at stopping the run but possesses an uncanny ability to get in the backfield for a guy his size. I've read different different reports on his actual TFL and sacks for the season (nfldraftcountdown is on the high side of those). 16 TFL and 8 sacks, he's just overshadowed Brace.

Malcolm Jenkins. Easy.
First off it will be a major shock (to me at least) if Jenkins, Oher and Monroe are still available at 15. If all 3 are still there you have to go Oher. You just dont pass on FRANCHISE LT's.

How far do you guys think Crabtree will fall if he runs a 4.6 in the 40 yard dash?
Don't get me wrong, I think the guy is a hell of a receiver and I think he will excel in the NFL but I just don't think he has the kind of straight line speed that is going to dazzle the scouts at the combine.
I have a gut feeling that his stock is going to take a big hit after he gets clocked at the combine or on his pro day.
you should never pass on BPA unless another team proposes a trade scenero to good to resist regardless of needs, its that clear cut.

15 Houston Texans: Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois
This could be a spot where the Texans trade down. Their greatest needs this offseason are strong safety, guard, nose tackle and a 4-3 end to complement Mario Williams. Taking the best player at each of those four positions would be reaching.
If Houston can't find a trading partner, they may look at Vontae Davis. You can never have enough talented corners, and it's not like the Texans couldn't use an upgrade at the position. Davis is probably the top player available anyway, so I think this is Houston's best option considering the circumstances.
28 Philadelphia Eagles: Louis Delmas, FS, Western Michigan
Brian Dawkins is adored by all Eagles fans, but the future Hall of Fame free safety turns 36 in October. Even if Dawkins re-signs with Philadelphia, the team will need to find his successor soon because he's somewhat of a liability in coverage. It's clear that Quintin Demps isn't the answer after his horrific performance in the NFC Championship.
Louis Delmas has really shined at the Senior Bowl and put himself into first-round consideration.
http://walterfootball.com/draft2009matt.php15 Houston Texans: Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
I really think the Texans could release Anthony Weaver this offseason after he failed to generate a single sack in 2008. Left defensive end becomes a need here and Jackson is the top one currently on the board. Watch out, because the Texans might take a shocker pick in Rashad Johnson or Louis Delmas at free safety.
46 Houston Texans: Louis Delmas, S, Western Michigan
Will Demps was benched for Nick Ferguson, and Texans beat writer John McClain does not think Ferguson will be back. Free safety is a huge need and Delmas can be the captain of the defensive backfield the Texans have always lacked. This pick also greatly helps out Tyson Jackson (previous pick), Mario Williams, and Amobi Okoye to generate more coverage sacks.
Previous pick; Patrick Chung, S

either way looks like Beerlover gets his guy![]()
I am not sure that your boy Delmas makes it into round 2. I currently have him at the top of the Safety class. If he slid though he would be a HUGE steal. I am also not a huge Tyson Jackson fan. I don't think he did that much last year and does not come across to me as a worthy first rounder.
I don't want to hijack the thread, but I did want to plug the fact that my latest Texans mock will be posted this week. I can't wait to hear your thoughts. Just as a teaser, I have a potential surprise pick for the Texans in round 1....

18. Chicago Bears: Larry English, DE, Northern Illinois
Larry English is made for the 3-4, but I think he could definitely work well in a Tampa-2 4-3 scheme. English's stock is on fire after an impressive showing at the Senior Bowl.
