It looks like the woke media is really trying hard to get potential Head Coach candidates to stay away from Houston. They’re hilariously uninformed, and it’s sickening that they have turned it into a race thing.

These two bozos are flat out ridiculous and disgusting:

Then you have this idiot saying:

“Lovie Smith is a very good coach that was let go after only one season. Black coaches need not apply to be the Houston Texans HC”

And, of course, couldn’t forget about this clown claiming the “Texans are racist for firing Lovie Smith.”

Am I the only one sick and tired of people turning everything that doesn’t go their way into a race thing?

The woke Al Sharptons out there should be pleased with the Houston sports scene.

Astros: African-American general manager
Rockets: African-American head coach
UH BB: African-American head coach
Texans: African-American, last two head coaches
I’m actually surprised that Caserio’s answer to that one race baiting reporter that asked; “Why should black coaches trust you after you fired two black coaches back to back after only one year?” didn’t make headlines all over the internet.

Who cares.... the media tries to turn everything into a race issue. It is no shocker they did with this as well. It is getting to the point that they are making real racism irrelevant by crying wolf over every little incident. Then real victims get the short end of the stick.

It's the woke world we live in. It's also what's getting me to actually watch less professional sports.

Did somebody mention that the McNair's hired a minority GM and kept him around for 12 yrs even though he should have been fired when Kubiak was fired? Or he really should have been fired after 2010.

So, what was his answer? I haven't read that.

Texans worthy
I argued with people over this on Twitter. I wish I had that time back, but they had no counterpoints after I showed them the facts.

Most of them, as well as the talking heads, did not watch the 2022 Texans at all. If they saw a Texans game, it was Dallas or KC, so they thought that level of performance was the norm. None were aware of the regression of the players, how some players quit, how Lovie couldn't stop opponents running up the middle, or any of the other fatal faults.

So yes, it's irresponsible by media, but that's standard practice today.

When all you've got is a hammer, every situation looks like a nail.

The inherent problem with these media mouth-breathers is they see racism in literally everything.

It can't be that both Culley and Lovie were terrible at their jobs. No, they need an excuse. So the media morons see skin color. If anything, they're the racists.

It’s on video during their press conference. He politely shut the race baiting reporter down by saying that it’ll be up to the individual they hire if he can trust him or not, and that it isn’t about race, but about qualifications and results.
"Thank you for that question. It's not an easy black and white answer however as there is a lot of gray area."
That was not his answer.

There's an easy way to avoid this kind of controversy.
Yes, there is a very easy way to avoid this kind of controversy. By hiring the best possible candidate rather than someone who fits in a box. The narrative here is that Culley was hired to appease Watson by hiring a black head coach. And that Lovie was hired only because for fear of a backlash due to the Flores lawsuit. When has the objective been to hire the very best head coach they could find?

Sorry, but this is all on the Texans.

Typical ******* Caserio.
And a true answer.

He could have said, the Lovie hires is on Cal. I'm hiring the next HC or I'm out of here because I'm sick and tired of Cal screwing with my career.

Would that have made you happy?

Totally agree, the fact that Cal hired these 2 HC's based on race bit him in the butt.

No it’s not all on the Texans. Because there is an entire Rooney rule in place because it’s a league wide issue. Regardless if the Texans hired them back to back or not, they would have STILL caught flak even if they let Culley or Lovie coach for multiple years. It would have still been a headline.

I myself am an African American but let’s be honest. Anytime a Black coach is fired it’s the first topic on every sports show. It is possible just maybe, people are fired because they are bad at their jobs.

“Oh look the Texans hired them to fire them”, but, as soon as someone gets passed over for a job, it’s still an outcry. There is no winning.

I was coming here to say this.

Just hire the best guys for the job, regardless of race.

Also I do want to add as a separate comment, it doesn’t help that these two coaches were hired on the heels of OB who was given multiple years and never developed anybody either. And on top of that not only was he retained but year after year he gained more power despite doing nothing to deserve it. You also have Nick hanging around after failing miserably since he’s been here. It doesn’t look great.

Texans hadn’t fired any other coaches after only one year except the two black guys they hired.

But the kicker is that the Texans are just stupid and shouldn’t have ever hired either one of those guys.

I agree with everything you said. But there is an underlying reason as to why race is interjected each time a black coach is fired. And that's because black head coaches have been underrepresented in the NFL for...the history of the league. If that were not the case, it would just be the Texans fired another coach.

The Texans mistake was that the race of the coach superseded other qualifications. But its not like there aren't very qualified black coaches that could possibly succeed as a head coach. They just didn't interview those guys. Or chose not to hire them. This problem takes care of itself if NFL teams just hire the best candidates. There are two excellent head coaching candidates in this cycle that just happen to be black. They deserve consideration. Just as there are white coaches available. When owners stop worrying about things other than performance, we no longer have this discussion.

I think this is why it looks bad. In my opinion OB should have been fired his second season here, but like you said it doesn’t look well when he was given all the power after each season of mediocrity and the other two minority coaches were fired after one year.

I agree. What I do find frustrating, is the same talking heads such as Stephen A, said when the Texans hired Lovie that he didn’t deserve it, that they should have hired Flores even though Lovie’s resume’ was more qualified overall, it’s just very hypocritical because not many of these same people talking now even supported Lovie’s hiring. So, there’s just a lot of agendas out there.

A lot of people when Lovie was hired felt he was under qualified compared to Flores. It’s astonishing to see their position now as if they now think he was qualified. Though I did argue he was.

They should have just kept Culley if their plan was to fire Lovie after one season. The optics make them looks like fools at best, racists at worst.

To us, though, we just see the constant stream of misguided stupidity that has permeated this organization for years.

This is why I asked last week if they fire Lovie would it be a good look. We all knew the media will spin it about race. We all knew they will say they set those two up to be the fall guys. I’ve even heard some white sports commentators say that’s why Watson got out of there and they’re happy he did. They were praising Bill O’Brien for being a good coach. Not one time did they mention how he single-handedly destroyed this team.

If they want to make a living trying to get clicks talking about the Texans, they probably won't make much of a living. Talk about woke, I really wish people would wake up and quit listening to all of these ill-informed idiots and making them rich. Man, society is so screwed.

You’re forgetting that Bob was the big dog when all these guys that signed with the Texans were pretty much guaranteed to stay employed for like 10 years. Cal does not have the patience that Bob had. Remember Brian Gaine? Cal fired him after only one year as GM. Why no public outcry then? Not a sexy enough story I’m guessing?

He didn't hire Lovie because of race. He hired Lovie because he didn't have any other options. After he demanded Nick keep Lovie as DC other coaches didn't want the job because they couldn't pick their DC. Why in the hell would a DC, who interviewed with the Texans, take the HC job when the reason he was interviewed in the first place was how well he did as a DC? Then you tell him "Nope. You can't hire a guy who knows your system. We're keeping the man who had one of the worst defenses in the league last year."

Everyone bailed. Nick got stuck with Lovie. He went to Cal on Sunday and probably every Sunday before that and said "I told you so".

My opinion? Because at the time Culley was fired Nick didn't know Cal was going to pull the "We are keeping Lovie as DC" card. This ruined the coaching search.

I'm not forgetting anything. I was just talking about from the outside looking in why some folks may have the opinion (probably erroneous) that the Texans didn't give their two black coaches a fair shake and how neither should have been hired in the first place.

For these talking heads out there, (Stephen A, Cowturd, etc...) all is not right with the world unless the Houston team in any given sport isn't competitive or is always considered insignificant or irrelevant. The Texans DID hire Lovie Smith. How many teams either did NOT hire Lovie for HC, OR fired him? Are those teams racist too???
