2007 NFL Draft Day One Thread

That first round next year will still be a top 10 pick, plus I'm not that sold on Thomas. I sse a Gallery repeat, or a Gross type at best...he will not be an elite LT. Plus Quinn was sliding for a reason.

Dallas trades their 1st for Cle's 2nd and 1st next year.

Quinn is the pick for the Browns.

Highway robbery for the 'Boys.

1st next year? i take that back, not such a good move.

But if they like Quinn that much then i guess its worth it to pull the trigger. We gave up a lot for our "franchise" QB as well

I do not think so, Cleveland has the LT and QB for the next decade.
Remeber when trading the next years draft, it is a round lower on the value chart.

Not to mention, they got a highly rated QB who happens to be a home town guy AND they have a highly rated tackle to protect him.

Football AND PR win win.

Exactly. Cleveland needed all the PR it could get after having not so good of furtune as have the Texans.

Great trade for the Cowboys. I like that. They can still get a guy in the 2nd with that pic. Deep at some positions.

I never like seeing kids hurt though so I'm glad he got picked.

they got a franchise LT and QB in the same draft. I say the Browns have done an excellent job so far, as have the jags for ripping off Denver for 4 spots (and STILL geting their guy)
I'd like to see the Browns do well next year (but still losing to us). Cowboys sux.

It got bumb off pretty fast but the value chart says next years pick is a round lower. not sure if this applys for round 1.

I know next year picks are valued lower on the trade chart, but it wont be valued lower when it becomes time to pick next year. They'll be wishing they had a 1st they could play with.

Like i said, steep price, but if you want him and you think he can be your franchise QB you make it happen. We did with schuab.

Quinn gets to go play for his team, and i bet him sliding so much will make him play with a little chip on his shoulder. He should be out to prove that he shouldve been taken higher.

Wow! Now, if Cleveland can have one more bad year before becoming a dominant force, the 'Boys should have a great draft next year. No complaints yet.

I'm with you. It's a bummer watching those guys slide down the board and their reaction every time they get passed over.

I like Brady. He said the right thing when asked about all the money he "loss" by slipping. He said, "It's never been about the money, just winning. I'm happy to be going where I wanted to." He also said, "I never had it so I couldn't lose it."

Better than Leaf's "A week in Vegas" comment...haha

According to the chart the value to trade from 22 to the 4th pick in the second is a mid-third this year; and Dallas got next year's first for it.

Like I said highway robbery.

Thats the case if you take the trade chart as gospel, but if Thomas is their LT for the next 10 years and Quinn is their franchise QB im sure they'll think it was all worth it.

I am not saying they did not over pay but it is a buyers market and a lot of teams were at least at the window shopping.

not necessarily, when Quinn was rated higher than where he went. Value is where you need it the most. I'm neutral on this move by the Browns. But it doenst look bad.

The Browns paid attention to the Texans screw up.

Build the O line then get the QB.

The domer in me is pulling for Brady. If he is as good as I think he is he will get his money on his next contract.

Kastofna will need to avoid the high bridges and deep water around Miami. :D

Fine by me. I agree. Dallas, considering the track record of Cle, could be set next season in the draft.

I think he already jumped and he was holding his TV when he did it.

I like KCs pick. Right now I think our pick seems like one of the less sexier picks of the draft.

The hell with sexy, I rather the pick be boring a do the job set forth than be sexy and not be able to help the team.

On a side not I was trying to get to the browns official site and for some reason I cannot log onto it, I think it got crashed.

Quinn walks into another good situation, hopefully he can help the Browns, but I would not hold my breath. The NFL is better when Cleveland is in the mix.

Now that surprises me ...

Brandon Merriweather? With his character, that does not seem to fit the mold.

Olson to Carolina would be my choice.

I didn't mean it as a cut. I like solid. I was just looking at alot of the AFC teams and who they were picking, etc.

Me too. I think with 2 !st rounders and being NE you can take this flyer and if it works out you get a guy who had Top of the 1st talent

They just played the audio between Jones and Phil Savage about the trade, then they played the audio of Stephen Jones calling the trade in to the NFL. Really cool stuff, even if it is the Cowboys.

It cost Dallas a 2nd, 3rd and a 5th to trade pack into the 1st round. And they still have a 2nd rounder.

Dallas is working it today, with Anthony Spencer being their pick.

I heard there are high-fives at Valley Ranch. They pick up a #1 next year, still have their second this year and probably still get a WR they wanted. Nice work.

In lieu of a trade down (Watch out for the Browns - they still have their 2009 1st round pick to dangle) I can't see the Girls passing on Meachem here.

Draft Guru I am Not.

Soooo....I'll pick a name from a hat. Nothin' up my sleeve...

"Bullwinkle, that trick never works"

Alan Branch.

What Dallas did is eerily reminicent of what we did back in 'the day' to grab Jason Babin, no?

2nd, 3rd, and a 5th ( I think we swapped 5ths) for a low first rounder. WITH A DIVISION RIVAL.

Let's hope it bites them in the butt like it did us. :user:
