USC Pro Day

Wowwww

4.67 And 4.62

Nfl.com

No way !!! Yeah that's going to look prety darn good oposite A.J. there. I can't wait. So does this mean he IS another Mike Williams in the making ? I guess the acron don't fall very far from the tree does it ?
So we can pretty much have Hicks or another WCO numbers guy on day two or over pay, by millons, for the bulla bulla guy and his college hardware and stats. Guess which way I would like to see us go ?

Is it just me are have the 40 times for teh USC palyers beena bit disapointing over the past few years.

4.6, I smell another Mike Williams; and that's only good if you're Matt Millen.

Jarrett's only 20, it's conceivable he could mature more physically, get a little faster. The thing is, he had the same short shuttle time, 4.20, as Meachem who had 4.19. He had a 36.5 vertical too, vs. Meachem's 37.5.

I don't think the speed and athleticism numbers are much of a worry, given his size and hands. They are a worry given his route-running and work ethic. Mike Williams and Lendale White have given the program a really soft image. If you run a 4.65 (no telling what the real time is, given the track and Brandt's alleged inconsistency) you've gotta be a beast out there on the field.

He's got the numbers and production in big games, but that hasn't been a guarantee of much out of USC skill guys lately. Bowe clearly surpasses him after this workout.

I do think he'll slip out of the 1st.

Dwayne Jarrett WR Jarrett (6-4, 214) ran his 40s in 4.67 and 4.62 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.20 and the three-cone drill in 7.28. He also had a 36½-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-1 broad jump.

4.62 only makes you a possession receiver in the NFL, that's not fast enough to seperate from most corners in this league or be considered a WR who could potentially "stretch" the field. For example, we need a faster guy than
that to really take the heat off of AJ.

this is one guy expected to run slower, its no surprise & should not affect his draft stock at all. he finds ways to seperate, is durable & has excellent hands with a glossy resume.

at least mike williams went 4.55.

Scout.com reports that the Falcons timed Jarrett in 4.58 on a slippery grass field. Jarrett will travel to Dallas, Tennessee, and New York (Giants) for interviews.

so how did steve smith do?

Smith stood on his 4.45 at the combine and participated in receiving drills only.

if only one team timed him a 4.58 then....well....that doesn't mean much to me. im expecting jarrett to go 2nd round, possibly lower. steve smith will go ahead of him.

although, now that i think about, any franchise stupid enough to take vince young, lendale white and pacman jones in a 2-year span is probably dumb enough to invest in someone like jarrett, too.

Granted it's just a rumor, but some Houston fans like the idea of trading down to 16 and taking a shot on Jarrett. Needless to say, I dislike the idea.

I think Kalil still remains an early 2nd rounder. He had a good workout, MAYBE the Chiefs give him a look at 23, but that's all..a LOOK.

Jarrets workout according to Gil Brandt....

Jarrett (6-4, 214) ran his 40s in 4.67 and 4.62 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.20 and the three-cone drill in 7.28. He also had a 36½-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-1 broad jump.

He also said that Pete Carroll showed the teams video of the catches that Jarrett made in practice.

It's like a ticking time bomb waiting for that blast. Guess they were dumb enough to draft the OROY. Unbelievable.

Not always true what about Jerry Rice? Althougth I agree that that is the exception rather than the rule:this:

That's what I'm thinking also. Like I posted...tailor made for each other. Guy who can't separate tring to catch the shoveled duck that doesn't get there. It would be too rich to hope for.

To be fair Anquan Boldin ran in the 4.6 range when he came out...

I expect Jarrett to be drafted around that range as well. Not saying he's the next Anquan Boldin but im not saying he's gonna be a bust either.

Jerry Rice reportedly ran something in the 4.6s, but that was like a 1984
4.6 when he probably was timed on some old cinder track with cinders spitting 2 or 3 feet above his head as he ran down the surface. If you've
ever run on a cinder track you know what I'm talking about. Very primative, and very slow compared to these special surface, very fast tracks of today. And I would imagine the shoes with those long danger spikes they used for cinder based surfaces were nothing like todays Nikes.
Wonder what kind of a 40 a Jerry Rice in his prime running on one of these greyhound surfaces like Indy would turn in today ?

I bet he would trim 1 maybe 2 tenths off his time. Rice wasn't a burner, but he wasn't slow either. The dude could get open though and caught what was thrown his way. Now Fred Behlitnichoff (sp)....he was ssssllllooooowww, but man he could catch.

His 7 cone drill time kills him if anything. That drill is usually used to show that you at least have good short acceleration and can make good cuts, but 7.28 is horrible, especially for a WR. All of his times are slow and very dissapointing.

It was also difficult to accurately time to within a tenth of a second on a sun dial.

compare it to Doug Free, who ran a 7.48. jarrett is closer to a left tackle than a wide receiver in terms of agility.

so, he's not fast, he's not agile, he can't get off the line, rounds off all of his routes...he's got good hands, and nothing else. he's also lazy and has no work ethic.

Like future HOF WR Cris Carter, all Jarrett does is score TDs.

Jarrett's pro day was all around horrible...

Even his little interview afterwards sucked...

The reporter asked him if he was dissapointed in the day he had and he said, No, because people expected him to do a lot worse.

A lot worse ?

I wouldn't touch this guy until the middle to bottom half of the second round...

if being pro-vince young is stupid, then call me an moron. how you would not want this guy on your team is really beyond me.

he's dumb, can't pass the football, makes bad decisions....i can go on.

The dumb knock is ridiculous...

You really don't get it.

Even if I granted you #1 and #2, it wouldn't be apparent looking at statistics. His passing numbers were average for a rookie QB, pretty similar to Leinart's despite Leinart having a vastly superior supporting cast.

Now #3... vs. your boy Leinart... they had the same # of turnovers, yet Young produced 6 more TDs. And even if I granted you that he did make bad decisions, Young's late-game heroics would overwhelm that negative. NYG, IND, HOU, BUF, those were four come from behind wins that he led or personally delivered. Can't see where any of your negatives came into play there.

Just let the dude play and hold your tongue with the tired criticisms... quit digging a deeper hole.
