The Official Texas vs. Texas A&M Thread

Mr. White

Retired OLine Coach
It's that time.

Predictions and smack talk done here.

I'll start. This one's not even close.

The University of Texas-38
Texas A&M University-17

The Longhorns have never lost 2 consecutive games with Mack Brown as the Head Coach.

The Aggies also usually play better at College Station against the Longhorns. This one's in Austin, so no dice for the Ags.

You guys struggled against us last year.

You just lost to Kansas St.

The National Championship is not on the line.

........

We have struggled all year and been inconsistent.

It is in Austin and that gives you a definite advantage - although we won in Austin my senior year as big underdogs.

It is a grudge match and emotions can make up for less talent.

........

I saw we have a good shot if Colt doesn't play, otherwise I think we are going to have to play above our talent to beat you.

Texas A&M 28
Texas 27

Texas wins.

McCoy puts up big numbers against A&M's gimmick defense but the running game doesnt do so well.

A&M runs the ball decently & they get more yds in the air than expected but fall short.

Texas 38-31

Aggies are behind by four points, 1st down with the ball on the Longhorn 1 yard line. There are 3 minutes left in the game. Javorski Lane has pounded the Longhorns all day, with a 5yrd per carry average. Francione passes on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down, then kicks the field goal.
On the ensuing kickoff, the Longhorns burn the rest of the clock off, Aggies lose...:)

Whoop!

I'm not good at prediction scores so I don't want to start now, but if UT wants to overlook A&M then fine, all they are going to do is help the AGs out. My sister goes to UT and I'm turning my application to A&M this week so I know about the rivalry between these teams all too well. Records usually don't matter when it comes to rival games, it just comes to who wants it more. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens because I'm not sure. I get to be there tho, so that little spec of maroon in the UT student section will be me lol

Why would UT overlook A&M?

This will be their last game unless they win (excluding bowl).

They have to win to make it to the Big 12 Championship so I dont know what they would be looking past this game at.

Texas has never lost 2 in a row under Mack Brown. I dont expect that to change.

With Colt cleared to play today, and the fact that I could coach teh aggies to a better record then Fran, and it's in Austin, with the Big 12 South on teh line, and a possible BCS game for UT, and after being embrassed by KSU...Give me UT, and by a lot.

They have to win to make it to the Big 12 Championship

Doesn't that suck? :yahoo:

This Aggie team has lost only three games, and to good opponents at that. Also know that they have only lost by a sum total of 6 points.

This team has not been controlled. This team has not been shut out. This team lost two games due to terrible coaching decisions. This team has a future (hopefully without Fran).

Get ready for a good game, men. The future of this team begins on Friday. Always a good one to watch.... the Lone Star Showdown should be a little bit more interesting this year.

Oh yea, and some advice to the TU defense.....

You better not get in front of the J-Train.

Gig'em Aggies and BTHO TU!

Denny Fraud's job is in question so in typical Aggie luck he will win this game so he is guarenteed to stay for one more year and suck.

Ags - 24
tu - 23

We're going to lose by a point. It's what us Aggies do. It will be close. Coaching blows it for the Aggies in the end.

Texas 28
Texas A&M 27

I would happily be wrong

I say the Ag's do what they always do, come out firing on all cylinders. Go into half-time with a 10 point lead then blow it by running chunky boy #11 all day and the Horns run away with this one 31-13.

P.S. Mack Brown, The next time you're on the goalline and you have a 275 lbs. running back but instead you use your 190 lbs. Qb to run it in and lose the game by doing so, I'm switching to marron . At least Coach Fran has the common sense to use his work horse at a time like that.

Lets see, a team that is totatly dependent on the run going against the 2nd best run D in the country...hmm. I dont think A&M has a chance, UT takes it 31-13.

The jokes just kind of write themselves now.

If I had a dollar for every time I saw a Longhorn fan do or say something retarded, I would be a freakin billionaire. Keep it up, Huge! Don't even make me mention Vince Young's Wonderlic score.

I am not going to postulate the score for this game. The only thing I know is that it will be a good one, and that we can pull off a win.

I know you are pulling for the good 'ol Aggies, LYB!

I actually have mixed feelings about this game, too. Our season is toast, and if losing to Texas means Fran is gone, then I would rather see a loss and start rebuilding our program under a new coach. I wasn't impressed with their choice of Fran from the beginning and he sure hasn't changed my opinion.

Of course if we win, we knock Texas out of the Big 12 Championship, right? sweeeeeet...... wouldn't be the first time we were spoilers.......

I dont think A&M has a chance

I realize you are only 17, but that statement never applies to the Texas-TAMU Thanksgiving game. My Dad is an Ag, so I have been listening and watching this game for over 40 years. Some years it has been a blowout, but mostly a hard-fought game.

I was at the Cotton Bowl the year we beat Notre Dame with Bucky Richardson as our quarterback and they had a Heisman Trophy winner on their team (can't remember who now). We were big underdogs and we won. Bucky and the Ags just wanted it more.

BTHOTU!

Talk smack all you want...I got scores from the past few games. Vince Young is merely a memory for me. McCoy is UT's QB. The 4th best Texas school might have a good game, but I'm sure Colt McCoy will use this game to sway over some heisman votes.

Don't know if you heard, and I know you don't care, but...

Westfield 35-0 Spring

A&M has a weird tendency to play horrible defense in the 1st half / 1st quarter, and very good defense in the 2nd half. I have no idea how to explain it, but if with the bye week they can patch up their early defense they have a chance. If they end up in an early hole again, they'll lose.

Mack Brown doesnt use Henry Melton on the goal line cuz he is a 275 pound back who tries to run like Jamaal Charles & Selvin Young is a 190 pound back who runs like Melton should.

You must not watch Texas too much cuz if you did you would know this. No UT fan wants to see Melton get the ball on the goal line.

You put your most powerful back on the goal line offense & Young took that job from Melton in practice, it wasnt given to him.

Move him to DE already Mack. That's what you said you were gonna do last year.

Jovorskie Lane only averages 13 carries a game. That isnt a lot for a guy who is supposed to be wearing down offenses.

Texas A&M yards per carry:
Lane - 4.4
McGee - 4.5
Goodson - 7.1
Lewis - 4.7
Alexander - 6.3

Lane is in last place among players who actually step onto the field behind the QB, FB, & #2 & #3 HBs.

Pulling for Texas, but have a feeling this could be the year the Aggies finally pull it off.

Let's hope not, want a Texas school to be representing the Big XII in a BCS game.

Westfield 35-0 Spring

Ya'll only scored 35 points against Spring? Dang, Westfield is slippin'!

I only went to two Spring games, and we won both of them. Homecoming 2004 and 2005. I heard we lost this years homecoming game. That sucks. Our football team is just gone....

Anyways.... Gig'em!

Aggies have 101 yards on the ground so far...2nd and 8 now...

PA...Mcgee looking...throws it incomplete...3rd and 8...

UT needs a stop here to get off the field...

1st down Aggies...Goodson on a screen...
