The Official Texas vs. Texas A&M Thread

I know its the best game of the year for Aggies...but I'm not sure TamU is much of a game. UT-OU...now, there's a game.
 
:53 left and it looks like it's in the bag for the Aggies. Don't exactly agree with that call in the end zone in the 2nd quarter, but you can't argue with the scoreboard.

Congrats Ags.
 
Great football game Texas. Typical of the matchups we've had over the many years. I agree bad call on the pass interference, not happy with the classless hit by Heard on McCoy after the interception but those are things that happen. Maybe we can send Heard to "The U" to play football, as that's not Aggie football imo. Cya next year :)
 
I blame this loss on all the YV worshippers who went and became Titans fans. They have brought the the Oiler Curse to UT. ;)
 
Nice win by A&M, but that hit was one of the biggest cheap shots I have ever seen. How do you earhole a QB as he's making his way off the field.

Agreed. Hoard I believe it was. Isn't he from Houston ? Prety classless. Never under estimate the power of the little ankle nippers hate. Al Davis probably liked it. He's a raider for sure.

Heard had actually commited to play at "The U". He sat out last year and this is his first year with us. He's had 3 personal fouls that I know of. 2 plays in a row once. Nothing he does surprises me.
 
The one thing I can say is when Colt throws that interception and is out of the pocket he becomes a live target and really a defensive player..he is supposed to get hit. With that said I agree with the call on the field..quite blatantly it was unsportsmanlike and very uncalled for.

Great tough game by both teams and congrats to ATM!!

I blame the UT loss on David Carr...cuz I'm sure plenty of haters will somehow relate it to him..

Three close losses.... but a magnificent finish! I have been too excited to talk on the message board for the past seven hours.

The Lone Star Showdown rivalry just got a little more interesting today. I am thrilled with this team and I cannot wait for next year.

Who is the team to beat in the Big 12 South? Going into next year, it may not be so black in white.

Gig'em Aggies! We deserve this after all we have been through! I cannot wait to get back to College Station.... everyone in maroon will walk a little taller for the next 365 days!

It's about time the Ags had another National Championship....

even though I'm a UT fan and it sucks to lose...won't get a BCS bid either

I'm actually excited that maybe A&M can get there crap turned around and become a power again, this rivalry was becoming a joke and completely one sided, I'm looking for a exciting game next year with plenty of payback......

I couldn't tell how long the play was over untill he got hit. But don't think that I thought it was ok or that McCoy deserved it because I don't. I think Dennis should make Heard run back to College Station.

Regarding the Heard play, I think it's being way overblown. At first, it looked really stupid since it looked like he took out McCoy long after the play is over. But if you watch all the angles again, it looks like he saw that the pass was intercepted, then he turned around to block the nearest guy. Also if you watch the angle you can see a Texas guy take out an A&M moments later, which is probably a sign that what happened wasn't to soon after the interception.
It wasn't a smart play since McCoy had no shot of tackling Dodge, but it's not like McCoy was walking to the sideline after the play had been blown dead for 10+ seconds and Heard just walks over and levels him like some people are making it out to be.

texas just got out coached plain and simple, if a team is good enough the refs and dont matter, texas' morale was very low, and i think they just doubted themselves
 
I have to laugh about this, the very thing all we Texan fans hate about Cowboy fans comes flying out of the mouths of our Longhorn brethren. "We're defending champions!", "you guys wouldn't have won without the refs help!", "Your team are a bunch of cheapshot artists" etc etc. Come to think of it, the Jacksonville fans do alot of that also. I pride myself as a Texan fan to take each loss as it comes, and move on. It comes with the territory when you support the underdog. Try some optimism, a bit of humor, and tell yourself..."Next year, we're gonna beat those Aggies SILLY!". You'll feel better, and the rest of us won't think less of you for acting like sore losers :)
 
The cheap shot by Heard was shameful and I hope Fran kicks him off the team.

The pass interference call may have been questionable, although I saw the same thing on one of the slow playbacks - the UT player shoving his hand in the Ags face and the Ag was trying to fend him off and it looked like he had engaged also.

It shouldn't have mattered - UT should have been able to overcome one bad call in a game, but they didn't. I was actually pleased with Coach Fran's game plan - it was more creative than Mack Brown's and it worked. Mack Brown's game plan reminded me of the "playing not to lose" game plan the Texans use on opponents they are supposed to beat - with the same result, I might add.

you T-sips just got out-coached plain & simple. Brown just doesn't have a clue most of the time & you guys don't have a super-talent like Vince to erase the inept coaching that you've ALWAYS had. Most of my friends are longhorn fans & even they acknowledge that this guy is nothing more than a great recruiter @ a well funded & run school.

McCoy seemed like he was still back in the K-state game; only this time he was scared to run.
 
We were outcoached at K-State. I'm not sure about this past game. McCoy was a shadow of his earlier form, and as always, the DBs played dismally. Some people say Aaronn Ross was a first round pick. IMHO, I never saw him go as a DB before the 7th round, and as high as a 4th as KR. UT's D comes from the line and the backers. These guys are athletic and somewhat talented, so they do make plays that overshadow their weaknesses. All in all, I'm happy with the season, as I hope you Aggies are happy with the result on Friday. Hard to be a sore loser when I've been rooting for the Texans for so long.

Yeah, he's a live target alright. And...if it was the begining of the game and he was tring to take the guy out to increase the odds of winning...I could see that.
But there was no justifacation for what heard did when he did it. Colt's arm/neck was clearly shot form the hit the previous week. The game was in the bag. You've already ripped the heart out of the Longhorn's season. The only reason to tarnish this great victory for the Aggs, was stupidity. So now, when fran goes recruiting...the last image the recurits will have of that game is Heards stupity and hate. Typical Aggs. One commentator said one game suspension. My team, I show the guy the door. Let him live life in division II for a while. Anthing that stupid I want on soneone else's team.

Well, six ten win seasons and a National title, and a new 22 in the bank...I'm sure the Horns will lick their wounds and heal quickly. As far as out coached ?
After the K St. game the guy calls on his freshman phenom to bring them back. I'm not there, but judging Javon Snead's preformance...I got no gripe about the call.
I'm not an Einstien and I called it befor the Nebraska game. This was a three loss team. His system , they take a bunch of athletes for DBs , and work them so five or six work out. This years batch just didn't work out the way they'd hoped. Brown's not going anywhere. And I'm sure, judging by the attendace for the Rice Horns game this year....they'd be more than happy to offer the coogs that slot. We'll all wait with baited breath for that contract signing to be annouced. :pigfly:
