Texans random thought of the day

It’s the slowest/deadest time of year on the sports calendar. Nothing to do but make asinine lists to get reactions. Please disregard and go on about your daily lives. Nothing to see here.
Lol I'm guilty too but then why are you here? I always check in Go Texans Go!

Just a few more days. Hang in there.

A couple of camps have already opened. Most of the rest open this coming week. The talking heads will still be chattering, but it will at least be based on real things happening in camps around the league. Thats when things get more interesting. Who is rising. Who is falling. Which rookies are shining like Lassiter in 2024. How is this oline going to shake out and will they be the achillies heel or make me eat my words? Is Chubb still the man…or is it all a mirage? All of these and a lot more is why i enjoy camp so much even though we see only glimpses…save the preseason games which are glorified practices. I have no choice but to tune into the chattering class and let them be my eyes and ears.

I believe this will be the biggest camp in Texans history.

1. The Texans come to camp with what should be a top 5 NFL defense. Also, solid defensive additions in the off season.

2. ST’s should be good enough….of course, that could improve with a more consistent season from Fairbairn.

3. Everyone is tuning into the offense. All the requisite weapons have been added to make a special offense. This off season will come down to one simple expectation…..did the OL get the right coach, make the right off season moves with the free agent personnel signed and drafted? Will the new blocking scheme be the right fit for this current pool of talent? This is the biggest battle for positions, for me.

Let the Camp begin!!!!

The Texans have reached agreement with Aireontae Ersery. It is unclear what percentage of Ersery’s $9.2 million deal is guaranteed. With this signing, the Texans now will have all of its draft class under contract for the start of TC.

Lassiter is too slow to be a good corner. Dissapointed with that draft pick. - numerous Texans fans.

40 times have to be the most overrated stat in football. Look at that footwork, the COD, and reading the receiver. Ill take 53 Lassiters and win the damn super bowl.

I would take 53 Lassiters, as well. But...not all 4.6 40 CBs are Kamari Lassiter. He's an outlier.

Jerry Rice was considered slow when he was drafted. 5 Lassiter's would suck at OL.

Hope so

Probably not
Are you basing that off of what you think the OL will be?
Or no trust in the new OC?
Or you don’t like the skill players around him?

I think CJ is easily a top 10 QB this year. If that’s what you’re talking about, top 10 QBs…. Overall top 10? I agree, no.

Yep, just like Arian Foster (4.69) was at the RB position.. It's called "football speed" and natural instincts that can't be taught, which allows them to beat faster players to "the spot" before those players are in a position to make the play. Reason why some 4.3 guys in shorts look like 4.6+ guys in pads and vice versa (Foster blowing by and out running combine track winners). Football speed. The less time it takes you to decipher what's happening around you on a football field, the quicker you can react to it.. that's more than worth .3 seconds.

He said top 10 players, no way

Top 10 QBs, CJ needs to be a top 10 QB if the Texans are true SB contenders and I definitely think he could be that.

Agreed, but to be fair Foster was injured when he ran that 4.69.

New additions to NRG Stadium

The McNairs say a new $35 million videoboard and sound system has been installed at NRG Stadium, paid for by Harris County, which is responsible for the upkeep of the facilities at NRG Park. That arrangement could change in the near future as the Texans, county and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo negotiate a new lease agreement at the park.
The previous videoboards, which were installed in 2013, were outdated and at risk of failing, the Chronicle previously reported.

The videoboard is said to be slightly bigger than it was previously. Hannah McNair said they listened to the sound system on Friday and called it “amazing.”
“Minnesota has nothing on us now,” she said, referencing the Vikings’ U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Texans also added a new “T” design to accompany their H-Town “H” sign.
Still under construction is a new roof. McNair said construction workers are building the new roof on top of the old one. They’ll then remove the old roof. He said construction will not impact operations.
Construction workers were seen working on it earlier this week.

That's a lot of $$$$ for a video board.........and for a roof that is virtually a white elephant. Especially when the Texans are wanting to move in the next 5 years.............a decision which would need to be made in the next couple of years in order to meet new stadium construction for a move.
Seems like short sightedness to me.

If the Texans are actually moving out of NRG. I'm skeptical.
Time will tell.

I hope they move out.

The Texans stadium is located in a bad part of town when it comes to places to go before/after games. I'm good if they go or stay as long as the McNair's pay for the new stadium. (Fat Chance of that happening.) I would let the team move before I spent a single tax dollar on a NFL team. (But that's just me.)

I don't think it's a great climate in Houston to ask for tax dollars, especially for a new stadium. It's cheaper to renovate than build from scratch. I think that's why a new building was floated in the media. When a compromise is made (tax dollars for renovation) it will seem like a win for tax payers.

Unfortunately it will be a loser for football fans, particularly in Houston.

It was beyond irritating having to argue it after the pick was made. 40 time is easily the most overrated combine number people like to look at and it’s not particularly close.

Glad he shut people up and quickly.

I was not surprised that the guy who was really good at football turned out to be really good at football.
