Texans Hire Nick Caley as New OC

I've been watching some games from the 2011 & 2012 season (the ones I can find) & it is amazing the difference in the Texans run game since Foster left. IMO Lamar Miller was the best back in the O'Brien era but Billy O never managed to leverage him into making the Texans running attack something to feared. I'm really hoping that some combination of Mixon, Chubb, Pierce and Marks will be a real threat this year.

Just to rub some salt in the wound take a look at some of Foster's stats as a Texan..

Games played 76
Rushing attempts 1,454
Rushing yards 6,472
Average yards per carry 4.47
Receiving yards 2,268
All-purpose yards 8,740
Rushing touchdowns 54
Receiving touchdowns 14
Total touchdowns 68
4 1,000-yard+ rushing seasons
4 Pro Bowls
1 All-Pro selection

His single-season bests of 1,616 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns are still the record for any Texans running back.

Hopefull
From what I've heard from this interview (and Metchie), it's going to be close to BoB's offense. How do we feel about that?

BoB's offense wasn't all bad...but it definitely was not all good. Maybe it was his players and him trying to be smarter than everyone else in the room that made it suck at times? I hope Caley can add some different elements to make it truly a hybrid system.
Hopefully it will be better coached & schemed up. Hopefully it's closer to Josh McDaniel's offense than OB's.

Is everyone still operating under the notion that a te is our secret key to success?

And what of the other dozen mid round te's we drafted?
I was saying the OL is the secret, a good TE would be great. Supposedly Cade Stover had a good offseason and is getting praise in camp, Brevin Jordan is back. Luke Lachey has some serious upside. I actually cannot stand Schultz if his effort is same as 2025 and he would not see the field until he blocked with technique, effort and per design if I was in charge. You prompted me to list all the great tight ends we drafted.
2018 - Jordan Akins (Cleveland FA ), JOordan Thomas - Boy is a Birmingham Stallion
2019 - Kahale Warring - Water polo guy, still laughing at us
2021 - Brevin Jordan - Injury prone, but really athletic, just like Texans we keep hoping
2022 - Teagan Quitoriano - Falcon now.
2024 - Cade Stover - I think he can actually block and receive, not the usual Texans draft pick!

Stover has somewhat llimited athletic traits as a TE. But i do like his demeanor, and i think hes a guy that over time can max out his physical gifts. I dont see special…but i do think he could potentially be a credible starter. I doubt its this year. Hes on the come…but he is still learning the position.

Hopefully he can stay healthy and become a blocking TE. (He's got a lot of improvements to make in this area.) They're stuck with Schultz/Stover this yr. They will upgrade the position next off-season after they get out from under Schultz contract. Hopefully Lachey can help out with the blocking as well. Has anybody heard how he's doing in TC?
