Um….where’s Sauce? :hides:

Doubtful there will be championships after CJ's deal gets done. Maybe it will happen in the 1st couple of yrs after the extension is signed, but I wouldn't bet on it. Sad!!!!
Probably aiming at SBs in 2025, 26 and 27 before Stroud big $ hit cap.
Collins and Stingley extensions indicate how CJ's will be structured.

Ok gotcha. Anything for you to be right I see.

Hurts signed a $255 million contract extension with the Eagles in 2023, with an average annual salary of $51 million.Feb 12, 2025

Didn’t the Eagles just win the Super Bowl?
He said it was doubtful, not impossible. It’s a cold day in hell because I actually agree with Steelb on this one. When the day hits that they gotta give both WAJ and CJ their extensions, they won’t be to pay everyone. That’s why it’s no secret to anyone that’s been paying attention that they ain’t got all day before the odds go up.

That has been proven not to be true now: We just had two of the highest paid quarterbacks, eating up a nice chunk of their teams salary in the Super Bowl. Pat has been in the Superbowl how many years straight now?

& with the cap going up every year, it becomes less and less true. I know Allen just got a massive extension this year, but before that they gave him 6/258 million and yet they’ve been in the mix every single year since then. That’s with Diggs commanding what he did and guys like Poyer & Hyde getting paid too. Their inability to make it to the SB hasn’t been b/c other areas of the team have suffered since they paid Allen…….its b/c Allen/McDermott have been choking..

It’s early in LJ8’s contract extension, but You can pretty much say the same for him and the Ravens so far.

What’s been shown over the last 5 or so years is that With a competent FO, Paying your franchise QB and cornerstone guys isn’t the death sentence to being a competitive/SB team it used to be…

So What you’re REALLY saying Steelb/Marcus is that you guys don’t necessarily believe that Nick can sign both CJ and WAJ and still be able to keep this team flush with young cheap but talented guys that will ultimately keep us in contention for SB’s ……..without a massive trade off.

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. But since it’s apparently difficult understanding the difference between doubtful and impossible, I can see the difficulty understanding being “in contention” vs. “winning it”?

I think Nick has shown us enough that we'll mostly continue to be in the mix even after signing both guys as long as they continue to ascend like we think they will. We're gonna lose some talented guys along the way that we will be divided on, but as long as that core remains in tact, we'll be fine. I think too, the advantage of drafting and signing team 1st guys will help us along. That bore itself out with the Stingley extension.

How much of that counted against the cap? He got a high signing bonus with a low salary and that created a low cap hit. He also restructured so that Saquon could be signed. This is a very smart way for the Eagles to operate and the way Caserio is currently operating. Should be interesting what kind of signing bonus Stroud and WA get, what their signing bonus will be and if they will be willing to restructure. David from known parts clients dont typically do team friendly things that are conducive to winning championships. However with what looks like a good relationship between the McNair's/ Caserio/David maybe after seeing how they got Stingley's deal done maybe things are changing. With this said I've got no doubt David's a racist.

BTW, this isn't about being right, it's about looking at history and learning from it. Hopefully Cal, Caserio decide 1st and foremost they want to be the dominant team in Texas (The pathway is there) and consistent SB contenders by operating the like the Eagles do. If Stingley/CJ/WA and their agents put winning 1st the future will remain bright for another 5-6 yrs.

Exactly, they do have a 3-5 yr window from now, unless they do business like the Eagles do. To do business like this it's going to cost the McNair's a 300 million and probably more in upfront money. Remains to be seen if the McNair's want to operate like this.

Yes and hopefully some of those we lose will be due to trades bringing us back pics or younger players and or through free agency which leads us to hopefully some comp picks in the future. I long to see the day in which we no longer have to go after high dollar free agents to make us better.
