Tunsil dealt to Washington

How was this even adequate compensation for a franchises so called blind-side tackle ?
And the most valuable pick is in 2026, and it's only a second round pick.
You may hate Tunsil's guts and you are glad he's gone, no matter it's business, and it is not enough !
He's not that good (nowhere near what PFF ranks him as), has a poor attitude and is a FA next year looking for a massive payday?

They decided that the 2026 draft is going to be better than the 2025 draft.

Like I said I'm not against them trading Tunsil, but they better have a plan in place to replace Tunsil and that plan shouldn't include any OT's that are currently on the team. I trust Caserio/Caley/Popovich on this because they share the same vision of what they want their OL to look like. Banks/Simmons should be at the top of the Texans draft list even if that means having to trade up. I guess that's why LZ had the Texans trading up with Arizona for Banks.

On a positive note, trading Tunsil should open up a lot of cap space. I expected Tunsil to be traded after this season, but I guess Caley/Popovich wanted to go ahead and pull the trigger now.

Some are rejoicing…I’m on the fence u til I see how this line shakes out next year.

We were all glad when the team moved on from the Fulton, Martin and Mancz o-line group, then Scharping, Britt & Green said hold my beer.

Good LT's are hard to come by, but Tunsil wore out his welcome at NRG, I believe. If he was a captain his big overgrown arse should have been the FIRST guy to the sideline when CJ got whacked near the OB line in Green Bay. I believe it was GB?? He only cared about his bank account.

Would you rather he play next year than walk in FA?

I was fearing what his next contract would look like (and doubting it would match his play).
No, if you follow my comments on him you would know that I am okay with trading just wanted more. The second and third this year and a swap of round fours that I heard originally was more reasonable for me.

Steel won’t like this one at all. Watch out Nick Caserio you’re probably on his trash list now.
Not at all, this was strictly a money move.

Kirwin and Miller just called Tunsil the 2nd best LT in the league. I guess Caserio needed the money to sign Stingley and after this yr CJ/WA. I thought this would happen after this yr. Hopefully they get this right. The Redskins just got a lot better. If they improve their defense and secondary in particular they can beat anybody. I'm underwhelmed by the return. I would also move Howard and go young on the OL.

Really? I never got that from him. Top 7 or so when he wanted to be but he just never wanted to be that guy enough for me.

If I did this right, our draft position for 2025 and 2026 should look like this:

2025:
25 (1st)
58 (2nd)
79 (3rd) [from Washington]
89 (3rd)
167 (5th)
231 (7th) [from Washington]
243 (7th)

2026:
1st
2nd
2nd [from Washington]
3rd
4th
4th [from Washington]
5th
6th [from Minnesota]
7th [from San Francisco]

Nick put them in a good position for restocking the cupboard

I've seen multiple recent rankings that place him amoug the best LTs in the league in pass-pro
while he is admittedly weak in run blocking, and we are talking about the position that most agree is the second most valuable on the offense.

Fair enough. I'd bet the value of the next contract plus his attitude/desire/reputation around the league played a part in the return.

No 2025 second round pick from Washington, it's a 2025 third (the one they got from Philly)

Money was a future issue with CJ, WAJ, Stingley etc. Tunsil doesn’t fit the SWARM mentality. He may be top tier pass blocker but he’s **** in the run game and a horrible guy to have next to you on the line. He doesn’t help the LG what so ever. Love the trade.

But the plan fails if we don’t completely rebuild the line this off season. Time is running out on CJs rookie contract.

Not a sexy trade by any means, but not a bad one. I just hope that they have a Center or Guard ready to sign soon! You don’t just walk away from a “Franchise LT” u less there’s something we dont know. Either way, I can’t wait for the draft!

Just realize why this trade was made, in the 2026 offseason CJ/WA/Hunter are FA's that need to be re-signed.

It's a smart move but for everybody cheering on this move, just remember that you were some of the same posters that were cheering on the Duane Brown trade and we saw how that turned out.
wasn't that trade during the slick rick and OB era? Much more faith in Demeco and Nick.
look at my post about 3 or 4 above, it will show you what Demeco thought of #78

Thank the lord. Hope they have a plan to rebuild the entire line. Good start
Since they made this trade they should go as young as possible IMHO and let the young guys grow together. If this is going to be about the money, then lets really make it about the money.

I'm happy that they did something. I won't be happy, if they do not employ the more valuable picks toward an offensive line that can support a dynasty. I'm disappointed that we won't use the most valuable picks til next year .... thus exposing CJ Braveheart to a possible wheelchair. I'd rather return to a single wing ! A lot of yall have forgotten just how accurate that young man is/was - due to our swinging door front line. AND .... I worded that much more delicately than I feel about it .... Sorry .... didn't intend to rain on the parade .... I hate to see good money wasted thru stupidity or the stubbornness it often supports. I'm going to get a pizza !

Caserio/Ryans like the 2026 draft better than the 2025 draft.

Oh really, no matter that the second-rounder is in '26 instead of '25 ?
No way because that's a big fing deal !

I get the concern but just saying I don't care.

When you have cancer you do what it takes to strip it from your bloodstream.

It's abundantly clear that football isn't the most important thing to Tunsil and, quite frankly, it shows in so many forms.

For a team like ours, we can't have that around.

A new LG is the only thing that's going to help the LG position.

What no 1st round pick for one of the highest rated LT! Insane trade however the received picks can be used to trade up for Banks whom I believe can start day one.

Tunsil lead the NFL in enforced penalties committed last season with a total of 17, including 12 false starts.

Even if that's true (PFR shows him with 13) that's less than 1 per game. Fewer penalty yards given up than most people think. And only 2 holding calls all year. Be damn fortunate to have that few going forward. And of LT's 13(?) false starts, how many came after Scruggs was no longer the center? 2?

And soft as Charmin in the run game, and never saw him pulling guys off of CJ after a sack. I'll take demeanor over technically ability any day of the week when it comes to OL play.
