Divisional Round! The Kansas City Chiefs!

Vikings getting their asses kicked. As good as they were this season, and they were really good, they get tossed out in the wild card round. As much as a lot of us (including me) piss and moan about the state of the Texans, at least we're going to the divisional round.
They’ve been playing terribly for the past 4 weeks.

Didn't want to start a whole new thread for this but I was discussing this with a buddy and just curious how folks here feel...

If we are able to beat the Chiefs, does that change your entire perception of this season?

Throughout the season I've been kind of down on the team due to expectations I had coming into this year. Well really, it's been the offense that I feel has been a big let down. I know some of this depends on "how it would look"...but I'd been feeling like this season was a bit of a letdown....I can't imagine feeling that way if we were able to get past this Chiefs no matter how it looks.
I haven't lost the Super Bowl dream. I saw the offensive struggles but believed a switch would eventually flip in CJ's head. & once that happens a lot of our issues would be "fixed." Well it took longer than I expected.

I don't know if it's permanently flipped, I hope it is. On one hand I'm kinda happy it flipped so late. It's a new season & opposing teams have no idea how to prepare.

Texans can’t wait to spool up on defense or offense….or they’ll be in a hole against a SB organization that they can’t get out of. Ryans and Slowick must come out trying to deliver the knockout punch from the first snap. Put the Chiefs behind the eight-ball and make them play catch-up. Take the run game away and then do their best to reduce Kelce’s impact in this game. If the defense does this…..then the onus of success falls onto the shoulders of the offense. Let’s go Texans!!!!

Although it worked out great in the end, it's still a mystery to me why Diontae Johnson played so little. I get it - he's not fully up to speed.

Johnson was claimed on 12/23. The Chiefs game is on 1/18. That's approaching 4 weeks.

Surely, you can put in an increasing load on him. While he's probably not totally up to snuff on the entire playbook, surely he's well-versed enough to get 50% of the snaps by now.

Hell, Hopkins rolled into KC on like a wed and he was snatching balls from Mahomes that Sunday.

For me, that's my biggest gripe from last week. Yes...it all worked out. But DJ needs to get a decent share of snaps. He is WAY better then Metchie. Everyone knows it, but Slowik apparently.

And the winner for most ill-timed post of the year award goes to…

Don’t need the negativie distraction going into the game against KC.

What negative distraction? I've seen zip that says he's been a problem child.

It's just pure speculation, but it makes more sense that he just wasn't absorbing the playbook quickly enough to be a big factor, and they have a guy they would like to elevate from the PS so might as well toss him. We'll see if they bring anyone up later in the week. I'm not saying I agree. I'd take a 50% of the playbook DJ over a 100% of the playbook Metchie, but what do I know.

Again - total speculation. You may be 100% right - but if you're accurate, they've kept a lid on his behavior/attitude which is what I think you're alluding to.

No matter what happens over the next potentially three games… this season is an absolute let down for me.

**Bobby Slowik is why**

His constant lack of adjustments and piss-poor playcalling has either nearly or actually hospitalized our players. In fact, we are going to have to spend parts of the off-season and the season trying to get Stroud to shake off the Carr-bage antics that he has developed. This is extra work that we did not need.

We -must- move on from Slowik as offensive coordinator in order to heal. Until that happens… I will continue to clutch my heart in fear as the Texans play.

Plus… seeing him cry and now the constant memes come out. They’ve run with several on the Chiefs board. Effin’ embarrassing. FML.
Most of this is on Stroud. Slowik didn't magically start calling better plays in the second half of the last game

After the game, Johnson was visibly upset and teammates were trying to calm him down. His displeasure with his role is a recurring theme for him this season. (Per-KPRC2)

Sometimes the light comes on...and sometimes the breaker panel is completely out.

Cade Stover has also been placed on IR

No it was not speculation at all. Dude it’s reported by reporters who were in the darn locker room.

For the love of all things football….. Texans, Demeco, Slowick…. All of you! Can we please beat this got damn team Saturday….. if not just to shut up Nick Wright!! I don’t how this guy can even talk coherently with so much of the Chiefs in his word producer!
Good Lawd I can’t stand that guy!

During his Tuesday presser just minutes ago, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was asked what catches his eye most regarding the Houston Texans DEFENSE:

"The 1st thing that jumps out at you is SPEED.. That front can run. We didn't have a chance to play against #0 [LB Azeez Al-Shaair] last time we played a couple of weeks back-he's fast as a linebacker & he's kind of their main play-caller there.. But the speed of the D-Line, the linebackers-just jumps out at you.. The hands of the secondary-those guys catch the ball, you don't see a lot of bobbles or drops.. They can go up & snag it."

Does Mahomes and Reid have a true #2 or #3? He makes lemonade out of lemons. The Texans have to do the same.

Are you comparing Reid to Slowik? Okay then…

Plus Mahomes is a freak and can do things with his body and mind that defy the laws of gravity. He can also run better then CJ.

These situations are not the same Mr lucky!

Not sure how your post correlates to mine, as I said nothing but compliment Reid and Mahomes. But the reality is that Slowik and Stroud are facing Spags and the Chiefs defense.

****, really?

Stover had a really important/involved game against the Chargers.

Damn.

Those quick passes were there in the first half and something on the offense stalled the drives.
Seems as clear as can be to me that Stroud has been playing with a real lack of confidence as the season has worn on, and it isn’t just about the quality of the receivers, he had worse receivers at times last season and played better.

Now I’ve seen that similar situation of Stroud running for his life towards the sideline a few times this season, and I’ve seen him miss his wide open man, I’ve seen him throw it out of bounds, I’ve seen him lob one up for an INT and I’ve seen him run out of bounds behind the LOS.

When it mattered he found his open man, and he looked like he took that positive play forward through the rest of the game.

I’m not too worried about his receivers, Woods is a decent slot guy, Collins a great number one, Metchie and Hutchinson need to offer something each as the number 2 wideout. If CJ is on form he can throw guys like that open.

I’m also looking at the running game, I think the running attack is somewhat overrated against the Chargers, Mixon put up solid numbers once the score was out of hand, but he was quiet until we had established that lead, need to get something going against the Chiefs not rely on a big lead.

This is what I mean…. Pompous arsehole! Please….. beat the chiefs!

Our guys (offense or defense) need to get the ball in the end zone often. They also need to prevent KC players (offense or defense) from getting the ball into the end zone. If they do both a lot, & they can, it won't matter how bad/uneven the officiating is. It will make it more difficult, but it can be done.

Will Anderson needs a coming out party including a hat trick.

D-Hop is the ultimate possession/route reiver & Worthy is the utimate speed receiver: that ain't lemons.

The ultimate possession receiver averaged 43 yds/game for the Chiefs. The ultimate speed receiver averaged 37 yds/game and a whopping 10.8 yrds/reception. Nico Collins averaged 86 yds/game, more than Hopkins and Worthy combined.

Maybe look up the word ultimate and get back to me. I'm sticking with lemons.

Makes you really wonder what he thought was going to happen. Get picked up and a couple of weeks later he was going to get a dozen targets and break out for a 150 yards and a couple of TD's? He literally just got here and Nico is the top dog. Maybe he just didn't care for the environment/culture and decided to make an ass of himself so he could go home and play X-box or something?

Even though technically Kelce is a TE I Still think of him as the Chiefs #1 receiver, but I would
be thrilled to have D-Hop and/or Worthy instead of what we now have as our starters along with Nico.

Am I the only one that doesn't give 5 shits what some loud mouth says on the radio or TV? I just don't care! They yap to get ratings. That's all. It's like some of the cable news yappers. The more they can piss you off, the higher the ratings go. I call it outrage TV. Same here - make you mad, you listen more. I stopped drinking the haterade a good decade ago, and it's made a huge improvement in my mental state. I can't tell y'all what to do, but you're just breathing life into that stuff. The more you listen, the more they feed you the same negative BS.

The thing about this guy that appeals to me - it's supposed to be really cold in KC Saturday, but our guy was born & raised in Canada, so maybe he can catch the ball in those elements.
On the other hand seperation might be an issue for this WR, because our guys PD 40 time was 4.73, even though I realize sprinting speed in the NFL is irrelavant to lots of guys on this MB.
