Injury Thread

The Chiefs' Hollywood Brown and Mahomes are reported to have practiced fully. However Tuesday and Wednesday's practices were noncontact and very light. Brown has been cleared to return from his sternoclavicular injury, and has been said to be moving well...................but his legs were not injured. The question is how will he tolerated hits. Mahomes is saying he is progressing well. There is doubt that either will see the field against the Texans. However Brown may be put ot there on a limited basis. I would almost hope to have Mahomes out there, as he would undoubtedly be very compromised with his plant/pushoff leg involved.

with that in mind MIxon should not play imo

The Chiefs are not the only ones manipulating their injury report. Mixon re-injured his right high ankle injury in another drop tackle play this past game. He shouldn't have been returned to play in that game. If he tries to play this week, his performance is unlikely to help the Texans, and re-injury is likely to knock him out of significant playoff contention.

Christian Harris' time off the injury report was short-lived.............he is now listed as QUESTIONABLE with an ankle injury, no doubt compensatory to his long-standing calf tear injury.
How long does it take to comeback from a calf tear? He was out for like 3 months.

Harris was brought back way too soon from his initial Grade I calf tear. He then extended the injury to high Grade II. A re-tear will always result in a more extended rehab than if it were the original injury. IF this re-tear is managed appropriately, there is still a significant risk of re-injury and very prolonged recovery..........weeks to many months.

He sat out 3 months

Should he have sat out all season?

Watching Dell's injury play in slow motion, there is no doubt for me that he suffered a knee dislocation..............a multi ligament injury that definitely involves the MCL and possibly ACL and PCL. A plateau fracture is quite possible. With such an injury, you always worry about arterial and/or nerve damage. Dell is looking a long rehab after surgery(ies). Prayers that he can heal functionally. His football future ultimately has to be in question.

Hope that further testing and imaging proves my evaluation inaccurate.

The NY Times/The Athletic reports that Dell was hospitalized knee cap. I have never heard of a knee cap dislocating requiring hospitalization. I don't believe that Dell did not sustain a much more serious knee injury.

If it was a dislocation, would you expect him to be discharged Monday? Also, would the team prefer him to have surgery if required with their surgeon in Houston?

If there was no arterial or nerve damage, continued hospitalization would not necessarily be required. Any surgery would need to then be delayed until acute swelling is decreased. He will definitely be thoroughly evaluated in Houston.

It should be known that ~50% of knee dislocations will spontaneously reduce. Also such injuries are delayed for swelling to decrease, but surgical results are best typically with repairs performed within 3 weeks of the injury.

Sunday's Injury report involved estimation as if there was a practice (which there wasn't).

Futakkasi, Scruggs and Mason will not play Wednesday.

I would not expect much from Harris, if he even plays.

Anderson could be questionable. But with the game being important, he may be heavily bandaged............not very advantageous to a defensive end.

Here's what I posted previously in the Injury Thread...........

And in the Injury Discussion Thread..............

Watching the play of injury, it still looks like a knee dislocation. With a knee cap dislocation and ACL already admitted to, a PCL and an MCL is also typically commonly damaged. No doubt, he will have suffered meniscus and articular cartilage damage. Returning to football will be on the unlikely side............returning to previous performance, beyond a miracle.

Officially now, Dell dislocated his knee and tore his MCL, LCL, as well as ACL, with significant meniscus damage............and although not specified, I guarantee you that he sustained articular cartilage damage.

The media and many medical "experts" touting a dislocated knee cap was laughable.

Dell sadly will be looking at multiple surgeries and a very long road to recovery..................with my initial impression now even stronger................".Returning to football will be on the unlikely side............returning to previous performance, beyond a miracle."

Stroud's tears were not wasted on Tank..................may Tank be blessed to return to a good life with or without football.

Does not look good for Okudah clearing contusion protocol.

Does not look good for Lassiter dealing with a Quad. If he tries playing, I do not expect him to be effective.

The Texans won’t have a pair of defensive linemen for Sunday’s regular-season finale.
Defensive end Denico Autry (knee) and defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi (ankle) will sit out against the Titans.
Cornerback Jeff Okudah (concussion) and offensive guard Shaq Mason (knee) also are out.

The team reporting that Fatukasi, Metchie, Hansen, and Okudah all practiced and ready to play Saturday.............Mason is not.

Again, keep in mind that today's practice was also a walk-thru. The Texans are pushing those players into playing without really being rehabbed and ready. Desperation.

The Texans didn't activate Teagan Quitoriano from injured reserve designated for return, ruling him out for playoff game against the Chargers. He is is healthy and participated fully (in walk-thrus) but didn't receive any snaps on offense in practice this week
