Divisional Round! The Kansas City Chiefs!

The Chiefs have been in a lot of close games that they found a way to win. Our guys played them close and in a rematch we are due for a win against them in a close game. The Chargers game woke up a sleeping giant. It's a whole new season and all bets are off. We have the potential to prove the pundits wrong. I won't predict a win but I will say we should not be underestimated. Go Texans!!!!

Are we any different? I'm still lurking on powderblue.com & they remind me if us after a loss. Going into the game everything was roses. After the loss Harbaugh needs to blow it up & start all over, including QB.
That's just unrealistic fandom.

Some of that goes on around these parts, but it doesn't seem to be as bad as some MB's.

The Chiefs fans are also calling Texans defense “dirty”, “bountygate like” and think AAS should be thrown out of the league for, wait for it, not the hit on Lawrence, but for an episode where he supposedly touched Herbert’s helmet.

The Chiefs success has gone to that fan base's head, and they’re borderline delusional, IMO, at least on that board.

I know everyone thinks we are going to lose, but I think that's why it sets up for a trap game. #1 seed at home, they haven't played in awhile, and they are probably more worried about Buffalo/Baltimore, people still not really giving this team a chance...... Like I said last game, I love the underdog role! The Texans have a real good chance in this one, they are going in hot, and if KC comes out flat after the layoff, plus if this defense can pressure Mahommes... anything is possible. LFG!

:texflag:
The refs aren't going to let the Swifties lose. Look at the games they played this yr, they would have 2-3 more losses without the refs/NFL's help and God'ell assigned an officiating crew that's never officiated a game that Mahomes has lost in. Even the Chiefs fans are posting how glad they are that is crew is officiating the game. It's kinda like Scott Foster officiating a Rockets game.

Vikings getting their asses kicked. As good as they were this season, and they were really good, they get tossed out in the wild card round. As much as a lot of us (including me) piss and moan about the state of the Texans, at least we're going to the divisional round.

You know - Demeco didn’t get out coached last game against one of the best.

Just saying.

Also - the some key Chief players have been off the last two weeks.

I am hoping to see some rust on these players.

Love how these talking heads like to act superior, and have topical takes that reveal they haven't really researched the team.
These guys don't get paid for research or correct predictions. They get paid for being bombastic and obnoxious. ESPN and most other sports networks have become unwatchable because of them. NFL Network is somewhat better because their announcers are paid by the league and so not as outrageous or obnoxious.

Off topic a bit, but I tried to watch the NBA draft last year with Stephen Awful as the analyst. Not only did he know squat about the players that were drafted, but constantly yelled throughout the broadcast. Why are you yelling about the 11th pick whose name you can't pronounce? These sports shows are at an all time worst.

Rant over.

I guess Flores isn't the WCO defensive guru some around these parts think he is.

It will be the 1st time the Texans played back to back games like that this season.

I believe it will happen.

Rich for a fan base that roots for people like Kelce, Eric Fisher, etc over the years.

Didn't want to start a whole new thread for this but I was discussing this with a buddy and just curious how folks here feel...

If we are able to beat the Chiefs, does that change your entire perception of this season?

Throughout the season I've been kind of down on the team due to expectations I had coming into this year. Well really, it's been the offense that I feel has been a big let down. I know some of this depends on "how it would look"...but I'd been feeling like this season was a bit of a letdown....I can't imagine feeling that way if we were able to get past this Chiefs no matter how it looks.

For me, the complaints remain valid.

Line is still trash until it isnt.

OC is still suspect until he isnt.

CJ is still prone to stupid mistakes until he isn't.

IF they have magically fixed all these things... great!

I'm not holding my breath.

IF they start a tradition of looking like butt during regular season, somehow always manage to make the playoffs and get hot during playoff time... it will be an annoying tradition but I'm okay with it provided they look real when it truly matters.

Id prefer a team that dominates the regular season and continues that into the playoffs... but as a fan of a Houston football team... I'll enjoy the championships however they come.

I’ll be rooting for our Toros, but this is a song I’ve heard before. I know better than to buy into the hype. At least not until the team proves to not be compiled of mental midgets every time they’re in the divisional round. Do I hope the Toros pull off a huge upset? You bet your stankin arse I do! But I ain’t setting myself up to be disappointed.

The past doesn’t matter if the Texans beat the Chiefs and get to the conference championship. They will have gone where no Texans team has gone before and be the best team in franchise history. No matter how bad various parts of the operation looked in the regular season.

It’s playoff time baby!!!

There is no way the powers that be allow the Texans to win this game. Swifties not only win, they cover, and my prop bet is the Texans lose the
penalty count by 6 or more.

And if by some miracle the game is close, there WILL be a controversial call, or two, that does NOT favor the Texans, guaranteed.

This is so much of a done deal to me that I don’t even care about breaking down what the Texans need to do to win. It ain’t happening. Not even going to blame the OL, QB, Slowik, nothing.

Go ahead and tear me a new one in your replies. Tell me how I think the Texans shouldn’t even game plan then or even make the trip to KC, or tell me I shouldn’t stick my head up my ass that far with a tinfoil hat on, blah, blah, blah. My response is watch what happens Saturday, then check back with me.
Taylor swift will be there. Refs will put the game out of reach by halftime. Let’s get a ref stat of the crew officiating on the penalties theyve called on the opposing team compared to kc. Texans will need a miracle. Mahomes getting injured which I don’t wish or God answering Cjs prayer and putting the spirits of angels in John metchie and Hutchinson. Kind of like the baseball movie, angels in the outfield

No matter what happens over the next potentially three games… this season is an absolute let down for me.

**Bobby Slowik is why**

His constant lack of adjustments and piss-poor playcalling has either nearly or actually hospitalized our players. In fact, we are going to have to spend parts of the off-season and the season trying to get Stroud to shake off the Carr-bage antics that he has developed. This is extra work that we did not need.

We -must- move on from Slowik as offensive coordinator in order to heal. Until that happens… I will continue to clutch my heart in fear as the Texans play.

Plus… seeing him cry and now the constant memes come out. They’ve run with several on the Chiefs board. Effin’ embarrassing. FML.

I wonder if Reid’s brain gets rusty?
Reid is going to game plan exactly how he did week 16. A lot of short crossers that get 10 yards RAC. Mahomes is clean because he gets rid of the ball inside 2 seconds.

The Texans need to come up and defend these short passes. Leave the CBs alone on the WRs and hope they don't get beat. At least the D-line would get shots at Mahomes. I'd rather go down in an explosion than die the death of a million razor cuts.

I love how quickly they run those plays.

It’s the kind of stuff our offense needs to use as a foundation.

Speaking of babies, Mahomes just had his third one. Cry baby Cry, Cry baby Cry! Sleep is for the weak!!! :crying:😭

I've got a three and one-year old, and trust me staying up all night will take it out of you. (Sorry Patrick, "It's not personal, it's business." <-See I know this line, cause I've been watching the Godfather series when my baby decides to take a night off from sleeping. :) )

So it’s a letdown from Bobby even though they are now in the divisional round lol

Blaming Bobby for Dell getting hurt on his own teammate diving for the ball is, what’s the word, idiotic. Diggs getting hurt has nothing to do with play calling.

The natural progression of an ascending team is to make it at least one round further in the playoffs than the prior year. At this point, the regular season is figuring out how to work with what we have and adjusting, while winning enough games to make it to the dance.

We go to the AFC championship game in year two of Ryan’s/Stroud and this was a great season. We don’t, ho hum.

It's still a league where a team can get hot at the right time and go all the way (or farther than most would believe possible). It's just been a while since any of us have seen it happen and pretty much never to our own team.

Although it worked out great in the end, it's still a mystery to me why Diontae Johnson played so little. I get it - he's not fully up to speed.

Johnson was claimed on 12/23. The Chiefs game is on 1/18. That's approaching 4 weeks.

Surely, you can put in an increasing load on him. While he's probably not totally up to snuff on the entire playbook, surely he's well-versed enough to get 50% of the snaps by now.

Hell, Hopkins rolled into KC on like a wed and he was snatching balls from Mahomes that Sunday.

For me, that's my biggest gripe from last week. Yes...it all worked out. But DJ needs to get a decent share of snaps. He is WAY better then Metchie. Everyone knows it, but Slowik apparently.

Johnson must be utilized. He can absolutely help with production and is a much better option than Metchie at this moment in time. Decent route runner and can get open. I really hope he is included more.

IMO Yes, it definitely does. Results matter. As much as I like "style points" you can't cash them in for a championship. My case in point is the 1994-1995 Rockets. They looked like **** during the regular season, but when the games mattered, they were the first team to beat four 50 win teams in a postseason and were unbeatable, despite shooting themselves in the foot repeatedly during the postseason. If the Texans beat the Chiefs, by definition, they had the most successful season in Texans history and are arguably the best Texans team.

I disagree. If the Texans win the Superb Owl, Slowik becomes a hot commodity in the coaching world, and he probably gets hired away. I win. You win. Slowik wins. We all win.
