CJ Stroud year 2

Yes, if our run game doesn't force the other safety in the box odds are in their favor.
That's more scheme and personnel & play call related stuff tho as opposed to having anything to do with CJ’s individual play. Don’t know why it took so long for Slowik to do this..or maybe i just don't remember us doing it more often earlier in the season, but i noticed in the Titans game on CJ’s 1 drive that Slowik had CJ coming off the play action going opposite his throwing arm. People here were asking why we don’t run to the right more often let alone off play-action…especially considering how much our scheme depends on play-action and the run game...a small part of that im sure is b/c CJ is a righty.

Play-action run left, boot to the right...more natural & easier passes for a righty to complete....Play-action run right, boot to the left...more natural and easier passes to complete for lefties.

booting left, As a righty,CJ has to throw against his body and put more effort into squaring his shoulders for an accurate pass as well as to be able to get more on it. It can be done for sure, but those passes are harder to make as a right-handed qb. But for no other reason than to keep defenses honest, i just don't understand why Slowik didn't do it more through out the season. Just another failure by him imo.

No. The thing I'm talking about is Cj slowly processing the rotation & how it affects his read. It was something identified early last season.

I dont know if you can definitely say that’s what’s going on. It could be the routes are deep and he’s got to wait for the right window…could be a guy isn’t open..

I was sharing my opinion based on something Cj said early last season.

Edit: maybe it wasn't Cj but one of the talking heads.

Other than Nico, we don't have wide receivers that can get open or tight ends for that matter.

Why you continue to say things like this? You’re making it seems as if he doesn’t put in the work. Which is not true at all.
How much work was he putting in when he was galavanting around the globe with Parsons? Last yr came to easy for CJ, now he's going to have to work to get back to where he was.

Do you think CJ's singular focus is on winning a championship and I dont mean this as a bad thing, because he's a young kid with all of the trappings of fame and fortune.

Man you worry about the wrong stuff too much. Every darn player find time for themselves and their family. They do not work 24/7. Like I said he puts in the work. All because you don’t see him doesn’t mean he’s not.

Results don't look like he's put in much work. Teams figured him out. He hasn't figured out how to beat them.

Pressure was a problem for him last season. He doesn't appear to be any better against pressure. Teams will relentlessly pressure him until he does something about it.

I get the sense that Stroud thought that he did the work. Could be that he did not know what to work hard at.

I do know I personally have no interest in seeing "Celebrity CJ" this off season.

False: you can put in all the work you need, you can not compensate for getting hit by 300 lb men on a consistent basis.

And with this narrative, the offensive line hasn’t put in the work either. Tunsil and Howard didn’t do much at OTA’s, Mini camps nor preseason. Mason missed practices as well. So how should he practice in the offseason for blown assignments by his offensive line?

Now did Slowik do any work this offseason or was he working every day

Doesn't mean he does either.

I question if CJ puts football 2nd behind God?

Or did the celebrity get him?

Uhhh, Tunsil and Howard were working on coming back from serious injuries/surgeries. Mason is old and got rest days. CJ had/is none of these things. Regardless, he needs to work on his footwork. Remember a time when Texans fans used to have these same discussions about Carr?

False: Did you see any tweets this offseason where he took his WRs to this place or that place to work out with them? When QBs put in extra work it usually gets reported in the offseason.

It is possible for Tunsil to jk off in the offseason & Cj S2roud to jk off the same offseason.

Slowick... usually we don't see coaches doing extra work in the offseason. Whether he did or didn't, we don't know. Looks like he didn't. if you were to argue he didn't I'd agree with you. If he said that he did, I'd call him a liar.

I will go by what the coaches and players/teammates say over anybody on a message board. You’re always trying to crap on certain players. But wants to give guys like Tunsil a pass who we all know missed all of TC and etc.
Nope

One player is at the top not allowing pressure and sacks. The other player was great last year and barely avg this year.

BTW, I read where Payton said he got rid of Wilson because he considers sacks to be mainly a QB stat and Wilson was taking too many sacks instead of throwing the ball away. One things for sure CJ's blindside was protected better than most QB's. That's with Tunsil not being able to practice during the off-season because he was rehabbing from knee surgery and then sprained his ankle which hurt his play. With all of this he's still one of the best LT in the NFL at protecting his QB's blindside. So considering all of this I would say Tunsil has done well this year. Most importantly he's as healthy as he's been all year going into the playoffs unlike last year.

Best time to trade Laremy!

Sorry. I couldn't resist. I am right there with you as to the value of our left tackle. However, if I can get the right trade plus bring in a veteran free agent left tackle and get two to three picks and perhaps a backup player like I suggested with the Bears, I would have to seriously consider it.

I think positive changes, additions, and subtractions will be made in the off-season and that we'll be much better next season. Don't be negative. The future is bright.
I can't imagine it would be anything like last season. Nick really impressed me.

I would say an offseason of adding Lassiter/Bullock/Fisher/Stover in the draft

and adding in FA

Diggs/Hunter/Fatukusi/Edwards/Settle/Barnett/Johnson

Is a pretty impressive offseason.

And Joe Mixon!

I think our draft picks have been disappointing. PFF agrees.

Was it wise to compact Diggs' contract to one season? It doesn't seem so to me.

I think I'd give Nick a C or a D.

Lassiter is one of the best CB's in the NFL as a rookie. Bullock is a leader in ints. Fisher is a starting RT that I think has played much better than Pff says he has a a rookie. Notice last game they ran behind him a lot. Of course I take the PFF grades with a grain of salt.

It was very smart of Caserio to structure Diggs contract the way he did. If Diggs did well then the team was a contender. If Diggs didn't play well or got hurt it's a one yr deal and Caserio is in a position to just move on with no cap ramifications.

I guess what you're expectations are is how you view a draft. But I'm very happy getting 2 impact players and a 3rd starter that is talented, but has room to grow out of every draft.

Texans have never been that active that early in the FA process. He brought in Dudes. From Foley to Azeez, to Hunter, to Autry, Diggs, Mixon... he didn't leave "Well enough" alone & created some real strengths to our roster, & we were never "held hostage" waiting on some diva to make up his mind. He moved to the next guy, made trades, locked up his guy quick fast & in a hurry.

& the draft. Very, very, very happy with Lassiter & Bullock.

Ok. Thanks.

I think having a coach that players want to play for helps too.

Who wanted to coach here when we had no draft picks? Culley and Lovie.

Who wanted to play for them two? Desperate players or ones looking for the last pay day.

Who wanted to play here once we got the a big name head coach? A lot more people with talent.

It goes hand in hand.

Caserio is talented and can draft or trade with the best of them. But now he can work FA a lot easier with Demeco.

And having a QB that can be top tier talent?

Youngest QB in the playoffs.

5 QBs that revived their careers in Wilson, Stafford, Goff, Mayfield and Darnold.

He has time to develop.

The Chargers game is going to tell fans a lot about players and offensive coaches. Hopefully, the new assignments of Tytus and Scruggs could bring enough of an improvement that will allow Stroud to shake off the Happy Feet and become more like last season.

C'mon @thunderkyss , don't fall for the false narrative. Because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
