CJ Stroud year 2

Interesting what Brady is saying here, it kinda chimes in with the processing theme of the pre-draft assessment of Stroud, plus hinting that CJ is already going to make enough money for his kids to live a comfortable life, regardless how successful he is from here on out.

Seemed clear as day when Kenyon got benched for Patterson a couple of weeks ago that CJ looked more comfortable operating behind that line. Let’s hope we can get back to that and develop from there on Sunday night.

It’s time for a conversation. All season long the problem was the O-line. He wasn’t getting enough time to throw the ball. Protection was pretty solid tonight…….Yet he still had deer in the headlight looks multiple times. Mahomes isn’t losing that game. Hell, Goff either after throwing 5 interceptions

It’ll take him some time to regain his trust in the o-line.

If your coaches are predictable it makes it easy for a D to make your offense impotent.

Good QBs make bad throws some times.
Again. The coaches didn’t come out in the second half and immediately throw an interception. Are you telling me Stroud is relying on his coaching staff to read a defense? I sure hope that’s not what you are saying.

Not saying CJ is perfect. Never have.

Im also not saying he is crap simply because the coaching staff doesn't help offensive players succeed by putting them in position. Good coaches put players in position for success

If you have inept coaching the wrong plays will be called consistently and even good QBs will be on an offense that looks like ass.

I also don't know to what extent CJ has to audible out. If his hands are tied he can only go with what he has to work with.

All I hear are excuses. Different sport but his play is starting to remind me of a former Houston superstar…..

He’s not wrong. Players must make plays.

Stroud wasn’t great. You’re right. He made some bad throws but I am aware that he’s not being put in the best situation to succeed.

Clocks at 2:04, What was the logic of calling a run play on 2nd down before the 2 minute warning if the clock was going to stop regardless? You mentioned Goff fought in the 2nd half despite 5 turnovers. Cj didn’t get many chances. 25 runs from Joe Mixon gaining less than 50 yards. What is Cj suppose to do if he’s getting sacked and Tytus Howard strips him lmao. Cj’s not off the hook but let’s hold everyone accountable?

Mixon has gotten a lot of run this year in general and it has probably saved the Texans from having a worse record. CJ easily could have also had 3-4 interceptions tonight himself.

Ok, please enlighten us. What is this “conversation” that you want to have?

Is it that CJ Stroud is not a good quarterback anymore? Really? Really? REALLY?.

I hope that when his rookie contract is up, he blows this popstand.

He’s currently playing like an average QB and has this entire year.

My take?

CJ was so outstanding his rookie year there was bound to be a sophomore slump. Combine that with injuries to his two leading receivers...

Let's just get as healthy as possible for the playoffs.

CJ Stroud is an overrated clown who loves the smell of his own farts. Nice interceptions and lack of awareness!!! Maybe he'll improve but I doubt that happens in this organization. Hope y'all force y'all's way out, Mulugheta and Coleridge!!!!!!!!!

CJ played markedly better last night, but yea he had some happy feet a couple times.
I dunno man when was the last time you had a pack of mnsters sack your azz 8 times ?
That kinda game he had with the Jets has gotta be traumatic, along with some PTSD.
And that was a really big IC the refs missed/ignored on CJ's pass right over the middle at the end of game, i.e. maybe CJ should've won the game anyway.

Uh.. it's Their job to come out in the second half and read defenses.. at least Bobby's job, and he hasn't done it all year, Bobby in the second half is like a Mormon on prom night. People hanging this loss on the players.. or even Stroud, I just don't get it.

You ever had a boss constantly set you up to fail and then when you finally fail, is it really your fault? If Bobby would've done his damn job this season we wouldn't even be taking about this..

Dammit... we agree on something.

That was the most piss poor play calling I've ever seen from the Texans, hell any team.. even the knee biter gambler didn't gamble, because he knew Bobby would just give it back. And Bobby set up drives to give it back all night long, but yeah.. let's ***** when the dam breaks and a couple of bad throws finally take place.

What's sad is, this was Stroud's best performance under this staff lately and I'm actually encouraged, because they finally pulled their heads out of their ass and made protection moves that should've been made months before this game .. but let's blame the QB who kept us in the game inspite of halfs of ineptitude. Stupid.

I think equal blame goes to coaching, o line, and CJ. Regarding CJ, I'm less concerned about his few bad throws than I am his movement/awareness in the pocket. It wasn't as bad as last game, but still an ongoing challenge. I think it will improve over time. They need to put the right pieces around him because he doesn't have the quick, elusive athleticism to escape pressure on a regular basis.

This is like blaming the fireman for the fire because he couldn’t save the dog from an already burning building.

Breaking news…CJ isn’t perfect. One throw in particular was late and lazy. He makes that..it’s lights out. He will learn from that. On the other hand…this coaching staff is slow or non existent to make changes that 99% of us can point out.

Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees. DeMeco needs to back up and take a 10,000 foot view. He should start with dismissing Bobby.

The o-line shuffle fixed pass protection but has hampered run blocking. Guess this line can't do both well.

CJ has the look of a QB who was let down repeatedly by his o-line and playcaller and now his decision making isn't what it once was.

At this point Slowick will not become anyone's HC, and we are stuck with him. Demeco looks to be too nice to strip him of playcaller duties.

So in essence, this is the team we will ride with until we are booted from the playoffs early. Win-now moves where made in the off-season, but coaching has failed the team and the fans. Coaching may be ruining our QB as well.

Goff tossed “5” INT’s and walked away from this game the winner. CJ’s INT to open the 2nd half had zero impact on the game b/c Goff gifted the Texans and Slowick an INT right away. CJ will be just fine as he’s still developing. By the way, I don’t think he’s even in a sophmore slump….he has zero faith in his OL and Slowick’s play calling. Slowick’s play calling and OL have also managed to piss off Mixon, which isn’t surprising.
