Nix with some ugly throws early. Missing wide open receivers

Oh my! Denver blew a golden opportunity on defense there!

Just goes to show that you have to let the season play out & not jump to conclusions after one ot two games (something I am very much guilty of). After 2 games the Saints were 2-0 and had outscored their opponents 91-29 while the Ravens were 0-2. Now the Saints are 2-5 while the Ravens are 4-2.

We like to jump to conclusions around here after 2 plays.

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales said that wide receiver Diontae Johnson was "limited" on Friday's injury report with hamstring and ribs injuries, in addition to an ankle injury that he's dealt with the last two weeks. Johnson is officially considered questionable to play on Sunday in Week 7 against the hosting Washington Commanders.

Noncontact rib injuries can be caused by strong repetitive arm movements and twisting of the torso. If no fractures are diagnosed, the injury is likely injury to the rib cartilage. This situation can also be a result of a cartilage tear. It can even be caused by a medical condition associated with a rib cartilage injury known as Costochondritis, a condition characterized by the inflammation of the costal cartilage (cartilage connecting the ribs to the breastbone) and could result in pain that usually worsens with movement and exertion. In either case, the player with significant chest pain with deep breaths, coughing or sneezing. Cartilage injury would many times be more difficult to treat than rib bone problem.

I would not expect Johnson to be able to play Sunday and very possibly more games.

As I've previously posted, for many reasons, I do not expect to see the Chubb of old.

The Browns are counting heavily on Chubb's return to cure most of the Browns and Watson's ills. As I've previously posted, a RB coming back from an ACL and MCL does not have a great prognosis for expected performance.

A recent study of Post ACL player prognosis:

Return to Play and Performance After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction in National Football League Players

Kush S Mody †,*, Amanda N Fletcher ‡, Craig C Akoh ‡, Selene G Parekh

Abstract

Background:

Considerable variability exists in return-to-play rates after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and reconstruction (ACLR) among National Football League (NFL) players of different positions.

Purpose/Hypothesis:

The purpose of this study was to compare return-to-play and performance levels by position in NFL players after ACLR. It was hypothesized that (1) ACL injuries have significant effects on the careers of NFL players, including return to play and performance, and (2) players of certain positions that involve relatively less pivoting and cutting perform better after ACLR.

Study Design:

Descriptive epidemiology study.

Methods:

All NFL players who underwent ACLR between 2013 and 2018 were identified using the FantasyData injury database. Player characteristics, snap count, games played, games started, and performance metrics were collected for 3 years before and after injury using the Pro Football Reference database. Performance was measured using an approximate value (AV) algorithm to compare performance across positions and over time. Nonparametric tests were used to compare the pre- and postinjury data and the percentage change in performance between different positions.

Results:

Overall, 312 NFL players were included in this study, and 174 (55.8%) returned to play. Of the eligible players, only 28.5% (n = 59/207) remained in the league 3 years postinjury. Within the first 3 years postinjury, players played in fewer games (8.7 vs 13.7; P < .0001), started in fewer games (3.0 vs 8.3; P < .0001), had lower AVs (1.5 vs 4.3; P < .0001), and had decreased snap counts (259.0 vs 619.0; P < .0001) compared with preinjury. Quarterbacks were most likely to return to play (92.9% vs 53.7%; P = .0040) and to return to performance (2% vs 50% decrease in AV; P = .0165) compared with the other positions. Running backs had the largest decrease in AV (90.5%), followed by defensive linemen (76.2%) and linebackers (62.5%).

Conclusion:

The study findings indicated that NFL players are severely affected by ACL injury, with only 28.5% still active in the league 3 years after the injury. Running backs, defensive linemen, and linebackers performed the worst after injury. Quarterbacks were most likely to return to play and had superior postinjury performance compared with the other positions.

Where's my boy DeadPond, and you know he' was right ?
The Chiefs just lengthened their lead over the 49ers but as he predicted the Refs are actively
helping my guys beat the San Fran team with their penalty flags.

At some point you just have to recognize his talent for making things happen, regardless of outside factors. It irks me too but he does it so much and with different players around him that it can't always be luck.

Reminds me of Larry Bird. I hated that MFer back in the day because everything he threw up always seemed to go in. Impossible shot, 4 hands in his face, didn't matter.

I watch highlight reels now and it's like WOW!! Dude was pretty f***ing good. Still hate him though.

I hate the chiefs and mahomes
Just saying
I love the Chiefs & MaHomes: they are the great team and great QB of the 21st century !
End of story !
I needed to correct my own comment -
The Pats & TB12 are the greatest team & QB of the 21st century while the Chiefs and
MaHomes are only # 2.

.500 team at best this year I’m afraid until we get some better pass protection. I hope these clowns don’t get CJ killed.
They probably will end up with 10 wins against a much tougher schedule. I called 10-11 wins before the season started and I will stick by this.

Fun With Stats:

Mahomes 6 TD, 8 INT, career lows in TD%, YPG, PR and QBR, career high INT%, and all of those by a long shot, Chiefs 6-0.

Mahomes last 3 games, 1 TD, 4 INT, KC 3-0 and a +30 in point differential

Two things I hate about our schedule from here out
  1. No homestands. It's home, away, home, away from here out.
  2. @ Baltimore & @ Kansas City

Maybe that's three things.

Mike Evans is seriously hurt.. I mean really hurt. I can't believe they let him play on the leg.. He's been dragging it on the sideline the whole game.

Man he looked like he was in intense pain.

I'm sure Derrick Henry is going to be getting a visit from the "piss" man very soon. What he's doing at this stage of his career is amazing and I hate the fact that he's a Raven. He might be having the best year of his career at 30.. He hasn't lost one step.

He’s on a team where he is not the only guy opponents have to worry about. I’d love to have Lamar OR Henry running alongside Mixon. Defending a dual threat with legs is… phew.
