Although DeMeco Ryans is new and Bill O Brian has been a coach for as long as J.J. Watt who do you think based of their first year has done better? (side note we don't talk about the 3-13-1)
 
Well. Obrien took a strong team and turned in into the laughing stock of the NFL before he was run out of town.
Ryan's took that same laughing stock and turned it into a legit SuperBowl threat.

Lets not forget about Bobby Slovik... when the Texans lost to the chiefs like 41-31 because of a faked punt by the Texans just for them to convert on downs. awful play by Mr. Brian who gave no good reason after the interview as why he did it he kind of just chocked up when asked about it
 
Demeco hands down. I’m still in awe over the Hopkins trade. Gave up a top 3 receiver at the time for a 2nd round pick and 4th the following season. Hopkins only racked up 1400+ yards and 6 tds his first season with Arizona

I’m in Orlando so nowhere to go really.

Used to have a place in Banner Elk NC in the mountains and that was always our backup and you see how that worked out!

Hookem is in Tampa or st Pete so he probably needed to bugout.

Don't forget that Bill O'Brien took over a strong (at least stronger team than what Ryans inherited) team as well. DeMeco took over a laughingstock team with the 2nd overall draft pick. So that record (9-7 vs 10-7) isn't even close when taken into context.

Yep. I agree wholly.

Bill O’Brien took over a team that was demoralized by Kubiak’s stroke, and all those injuries to Schaub (Suh, lost an ear, and ultimately his lisfranc).

We still had Hopkins, Andre, Watt, Duane Brown, Chris Meyers, Jonathan Joseph, Arian, and Owen “Open” Daniels. We were a damn strong team… and Bill O’Brien single-handedly destroyed it.

He had the Chip Kelly attitude. Tried building his own team but ended up effing it up beyond help until Batman, oops, DEMECO Ryans, came in to save the day.

Man I can't believe you don't recognize Jack Easterby. Probably the only person in NFL history to go from character coach to being in charge of football operations, basically handling everything from team logistics to salary cap management to sport science, equipment, video, player development and security for football operations.

I agree but Easterby is irrelevant to this thread. He wasn’t even employed by the Texans until a few years later.

Ryans got Stroud

RS wouldn't get BOB a young up and coming QB. Imagine the team BOB took over with Stroud.

Part of OBs legacy is bringing Easterby.

The thread is premature in general as it is as Demeco is barely in his 2nd year. It took 4 or 5 years for OB to get the hot seat and was bailed out by rookie Watson saying he wanted him back. To compare we should give Demeco a few more years to compare.

But let’s be real - Demeco would have to be slinging baby oil in the locker room like P.Diddy and trade away Stroud to be worse than OB.

The only real comparison is Kubiak vs Ryans.

We will see.

You’re right. This thread is definitely premature. When O’Brien got here… we were pretty excited about him. His first pick was hitting big with Hopkins. DeMeco did the same with on Stroud. Let’s see if Ryans derails like O’Brien did. He’s already showing warts with Slowick.

I would love to see a Kubiak comparison too.
