Easterby was likely the one who brought in Caserio as mentioned by SteelBTexan upthread. Six degrees of separation to everything, eh?

You’re right. This thread is definitely premature. When O’Brien got here… we were pretty excited about him. His first pick was hitting big with Hopkins. DeMeco did the same with on Stroud. Let’s see if Ryans derails like O’Brien did. He’s already showing warts with Slowick.

I would love to see a Kubiak comparison too.
Caserio is finding players for Ryans, he will be fine. RS finding players for BOB was a nightmare.

Kubiak vs Ryans =TBD, although right now Kubiak has the rings and Ryans hopes to get one or more.

Kubiak had zero rings with the Texans. What he did after the Texans is meaningless in this conversation unless we are discussing who the better HC is in totality of career, not just as a Texans HC. As it stands, the ring count for this team is 0 Kubiak-0 BOB-0 Ryans

I’m a Caserio fan. Always have been. In fact… I was one of the first to be on the Caserio bandwagon when we had that poll a year or two ago. Most of y’all were not big fans of him. Including you.

You guys and your thread memories.

I cant even remember what I ordered to eat the last time I went out. You guys remember threads you talked in back when everyone else was panicking over Y2K
Lol. I'm just really happy it’s going well with Caserio right now. I remember it because I was coming back from a long posting hiatus perplexed at the undecided or acceptable content by yall. I was sold sold sold a thousand times over on his handling of the Watson trade. Three firsts!

But yeah!!!! Me love Caserio long time!!!

*proudly thumps chest*

I've always been a fan of Caserio's and vividly remember the beating I took on this MB after liking the fact that he traded up for Collins in the 3rd rd and the fact that I liked that he took a shot on Mills in the 3rd rd. They didn't have a QB and Caserio expected them to be bad for a couple of yrs, so it was a perfect time to take a shot. The only guy I wanted in the 3rd over Mills was Mienertz the C/G that went to the Broncos.

I didn't even mind that Caserio hired Culley. Culley was supposed to be a 2 yr placeholder. I took a beating on this MB over this. That didn't workout, but it did in the long run. This is what's known as long term vision vs short term vision. Remember when Caserio was hired I said the Texans would be in the playoffs within 3 yrs? That worked out with a little luck involved. (Drafting Stroud, who I didn't want, so what do I really know?)

I typed all of this to say I've been Caserio's biggest fan and supported what he was doing, when the media and many on this MB wanted him run out of town. They tried to tie him to Easterby, which he was because Easterby is the guy that talked Caserio into coming to Kirby. I still think many still dont like Caserio because he's proving them wrong and because he came from Foxboro.

I do remember you saying the 3 year window multiple times. You’re right. You have been a Caserio fan. Thank you for correcting me on my fuzzy recollection.

Debatable

Ryans got Stroud

RS wouldn't get BOB a young up and coming QB. Imagine the team BOB took over with Stroud.
I think the team would be just as bad.

OBs issue seemed to be a very obvious glass ceiling. No matter how many weapons the offense had it would pretty much garner the same results. It made him look genius when the team had bad weapons but when it had good weapons (at the expense of a continuously eroding defense) it performed almost the exact same.

What made OB a good coach was getting good results out of bad tools. What made him a poor coach was getting good results out of great tools.

Giving CJ to OB would probably have us looking just like we always did under OB.

IMO the real test of a coach is how his team plays against the good teams. O'Brien could only beat the bad teams. He lost 70% of the time when he played teams that finished above 500 for the year. Ryans on the other hand won 60% of the time against winning teams last season.

O'Brien's regular season record against winning teams.
games: 47 - record: 14-33 - win percentage: .298

Ryans' 2023 regular season record against winning teams.
games: 10 - record: 6-4 - win percentage: .600

I can only imagine what our offense would look like if Kubiak had Stroud. Of course the offense was never the problem under Kubiak. It was always the defense. IMO Wade deserves as much credit as Kubiak for the 2011 & 2012 seasons.
Or Shroud being healthy. He played what? One post season?

Polls like this make me question society and the future of our world. I walk outside and look up waiting to see an asteriod on the brink of putting us out of our stupid misery.... Translation is Demeco Ryans :rake:
I actually come here to get away from the day to day stupidity that has already made me lose all hope for a future for humanity.

At this point I already know the destination of this handcart/handbasket.... Im just bird watching until we get there or until it stops so I can get off.

It's either laugh at it or cry.... and I would always rather laugh. Drives my wife crazy that the worse things get... the more jokes I got. But... she married me so she only has herself to blame for the insanity she is bound to.
