NFLPA grilling Watson’s ass about what he didn’t disclose to them.
It's not time to heal until he's playing for the Mean Machine.Yes he was and you and I both -know- it. It’s a chess match between attorneys.
Agreed on the spotlight that should behind on the marginalization of victims when it comes to powerful people. They’re been shined upon for over two years now.
Now what? More revelations? revelations that could help the Browns get out of this mess? Yeah… QUIT SHINING. Again… we need another Gary Plauche to shoot Watson and be done with it. No more spotlight. Now it’s time to heal.
I agree in principal and theory but that isn’t how it works. It's not time to heal until he's playing for the Mean Machine.
So the rest of the women he's done this crap too shouldn't say or sue him so that the women who have already filed lawsuits/gotten paid can heal?I agree in principal and theory but that isn’t how it works.
I never said we shouldn’t pursue criminal charges. I’m saying this all is being rehashed because apparently the Browns are trying to get out of that contract. They’re hurting the victims again. See what I mean? That. It needs to stop.
The reality is healing is going to happen -with- or -without- Watson going to prison. It’s definitely time.
Huh? Way to twist my words. Not gonna let you do that, hero. I know what I said.So the rest of the women he's done this crap too shouldn't say or sue him so that the women who have already filed lawsuits/gotten paid can heal?
Didn't mean to twist your words.Huh? Way to twist my words. Not gonna let you do that, hero. I know what I said.
Thank you. I appreciate that.Didn't mean to twist your words.
It just seems like there are a bunch of posters on this MB that want to sweep this under the rug. Wonder why?
I dont believe for a second that it's because they want to look out for the victims that have already settled their lawsuits. I want every one of the women that he took advantage of to sue him and break him financially, even if it take 10 more yrs of lawsuits. Freaking Clemson trash.
I didn't know there was a criminal investigation. I've only seen reports of a civil lawsuit. The latest victim was being handled by the police. The police does not generally issue press releases to Schefer, Rapport, Bradshaw, et al. Especially when the victim is “Jane Doe”. It is the -CLEVELAND BROWNS- who are making this into a media circus. The lawyers aren’t helping either. “Jane Doe” did not do that. She is aggressively pursuing criminal charges and she’s letting the cops do their work.
Well, if there was no criminal investigation, Rusty Hardin would have made a motion to file for the disclosure of the name of the complainant. If he doesn’t do that within these next two weeks, that would confirm it’s a criminal.I didn't know there was a criminal investigation. I've only seen reports of a civil lawsuit.
If there's a criminal investigation the NFL would have to suspend him. When that happens I'll know.Well, if there was no criminal investigation, Rusty Hardin would have made a motion to file for the disclosure of the name of the complainant. Until the criminal investigation is complete, leading to formal charges, we are unlikely to know..............the NFL at this point in time is unlikely to suspend Watson. If there's a criminal investigation the NFL would have to suspend him. When that happens I'll know.
Then how is Rashee Rice scoring tds as we speak? If there's a criminal investigation the NFL would have to suspend him. When that happens I'll know.
On Wednesday of this week… Hardin explicitly stated that he would be asking the courts to reveal her identity. That quickly disappeared so yeah I’ll be watching for that to happen over the next two weeks. May I ask why you said two weeks? Is there a timeline? Deadline?Well, if there was no criminal investigation, Rusty Hardin would have made a motion to file for the disclosure of the name of the complainant. I'm not saying any criminal investigation, I'm saying a criminal investigation concerning rape in the context of this player's history. Then how is Rashee Rice scoring tds as we speak?
It coincides when the victim and witness and video is to be presented to the NFL.On Wednesday of this week… Hardin explicitly stated that he would be asking the courts to reveal her identity. The NFL has responded saying that they only applied this to sexual assault cases................although the rule does not qualify it as such. Goodell/NFL makes up or manipulated the rules as is advantageous to them. Both should be removed from the field in regular season. Both are being allowed to practice now.
The language of the Personal Conduct Policy authorizes placement of a player on the Commissioner Exempt list “when a player is formally charged with: (1) a felony offense; or (2) a crime of violence, meaning that he is accused of having used physical force . . . to injure or threaten a person.”
Ask Rashee Rice about this.If there's a criminal investigation the NFL would have to suspend him. When that happens I'll know.
Hopefully the NFL doesn't suspend Derrick.
I want the Haslam's to have to pay the price for getting in bed with a sexual predator. Plus I'm hoping the victims get the rest of Derrick's money.
I believe according to the CBA that money would be paid out even if Watson were to be suspended or even if the contract were terminated, the cap hit would remain - but the funds would go to an NFL approved charity.
On Wednesday of this week… Hardin explicitly stated that he would be asking the courts to reveal her identity. That quickly disappeared so yeah I’ll be watching for that to happen over the next two weeks. May I ask why you said two weeks? Is there a timeline? Deadline?

This latest victim was not a minor at the time of assault. She is a single mother and a professional.................not a massage therapist. On revealing the victim's identity - courts almost never do that when the victim is a minor.
There were "multiple" victims under 18 - Not all of them were part of the civil settlement.
There was also one who was "mentally challenged"
It's a strong possibility that's what's going on here.
Some Cleveland fans are begging for a suspension after that performance today. For what it's worth. Florio hypothesizes what would happen if the latest victim is manuevered to settle. If this case is as solid as it appears and/or if the case is in the hands of the police re. criminal, the victim would definitely do better than any settlement Watson would ever offer. We are only a week or less from the time that the victim is likely to testify to the NFL.
Furthermore, the 2nd of 3 outstanding cases have subpoenaed the full records (including all communications) of the Houston PD, detectives involved, Harris County DA's office and the NFL. This would be a mountain of potential damaging information to Watson.

Chatter persists about a potential Deshaun Watson suspension
- By Mike Florio

The early weeks of the 2024 season have generated some unexpected headlines. In many cases, the underlying stories aren’t going away.
In Cleveland, quarterback Deshaun Watson faces both a new lawsuit and fresh league discipline after being accused of sexual assault and battery in a complaint filed on September 9.
There’s no specific news for now. However, there’s chatter in league circles regarding a potential suspension under the Personal Conduct Policy.
The league has said Watson won’t be placed on paid leave. The lawyer for the new accuser has said she will cooperate with the league’s investigation.
The neutral party who conducts the disciplinary hearings, Judge Sue Robinson, concluded two years ago that Watson’s flat denial of any and all suggestions of wrongdoing lacked credibility. If she handles this case, too, she might be inclined to give greater weight to the new accuser’s version of events, if only because she has already decided that Watson is not a fully reliable witness.
The question becomes how quickly events will proceed. Will the league feel compelled to expedite the situation, resolving it during the 2024 season? Or will the league be content to wait to proceed in the offseason?
Regardless, there are indications the Browns are preparing for the possibility that a suspension will be pursued, and obtained, this season. Some believe they’re evaluating available quarterbacks, even though they currently have both Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson on the roster.
On one hand, any suspension gives the Browns a potential avenue for voiding the remaining guarantees in Watson’s deal, if he did not previously disclose this claim to the team. The league, given the widespread consternation regarding the Watson contract, might not want to provide the Browns with an escape hatch from $92 million due in 2025 and 2026.
On the other hand, an in-season suspension guarantees the Browns yet another less-than-full season with Watson.
Another question becomes the duration of the suspension. The allegations of the new case seem to be a lot stronger than the allegations from the four specific cases that triggered an 11-game suspension in 2022.
Then there’s the possibility that Watson settles the case quickly, securing an agreement from the accuser that she won’t talk to anyone without a subpoena. Since the league can’t force non-employees to cooperate with these investigations, a settlement with a broad confidentiality agreement would short-circuit the process.
That’s the biggest flaw inherent to the NFL’s in-house justice system. Without cooperation, this case goes nowhere. A settlement guarantees that outcome, which also would protect the $92 million in guaranteed money payable in 2025 and 2026.
Some Cleveland fans are begging for a suspension after that performance today.
I said back when this all came out….So the rest of the women he's done this crap too shouldn't say or sue him so that the women who have already filed lawsuits/gotten paid can heal?
The NFL couldn’t interview her if an active criminal investigation was occurring…..Hopefully no settlement. On Sept 12, it was announced that within 2 weeks, Watson's latest victim would be made available for interview by the NFL......................today is 2 weeks.
Here's the full post:
I think this may be relevant as Buzbee will be making a public statement about this tomorrow and it may encourage the most vulnerable of Watson’s remaining accusers to come forward
Are you saying that the reason that the victim is not being interviewed by the NFL, is possibly there is a criminal investigation going on.............................if so, why would Buzbee not have announced that there would be an interview within 2 weeks. The NFL couldn’t interview her if an active criminal investigation was occurring…..Hopefully no settlement.
I’m thinking, when Buzbee initially announced the NFL would be interviewing the victim, authorities may have reached out to the complainant. I think Buzbee learned his lesson about announcing any contact with law enforcement because Rusty and his corrupt ways affected the grand juries before. Are you saying that the reason that the victim is not being interviewed by the NFL, is possibly there is a criminal investigation going on.............................if so, why would Buzbee not have announced that there would be an interview within 2 weeks.
Or are you saying that a settlement may have been reached and there will be no interview and he'll just let it die without reporting it???????????
As we've previously communicated....................with "Jane Doe" remaining "Jane Doe" for so long, there is good chance that this is being investigated by law enforcement...........a good explanation for why Rusty has not yet filed for demand of her real name (knowing full well that under such circumstances his filing would be rejected).I’m thinking, when Buzbee initially announced the NFL would be interviewing the victim, authorities may have reached out to the complainant. If there fty has yet to file a motion to disclose the name of the complainant, as she still shows as “Jane Doe”. Until Buzbee or Hardin publicly state a settlement has been reached, there isn’t one.
Mhmmmmm. Also, not only would Rusty be demanding the name of the complainant, he would also want to know the names of the two witnesses. Which you could be sure there would be attempts at intimidation, and another reason why I believe this is a criminal investigation. As we've previously communicated....................with "Jane Doe" remaining "Jane Doe" for so long, there is good chance that this is being investigated by law enforcement...........a good explanation for why Rusty has not yet filed for demand of her real name (knowing full well that under such circumstances his filing would be rejected).![]()
With Hardin basically being the attorney who co-crafted Watson's ridiculous contract, I wonder when someone will challenge Hardin's conflicts of interest in his defending Watson.....................including if the NFL comes into direct confrontation with Watson. In 4 days it will have been exactly a month since this latest suit was filed. Nothing new on an NFL interview, and Rusty said he advised Watson not to speak publicly about it while it works its way through the courts. Rusty also said he wouldn’t be conducting his defense in the media. Pretty funny considering that’s what he did before. lol.
I am strongly of the belief that not only is this case an ongoing criminal investigation, there may be multiple. The NFL may have no choice but to deal a hefty suspension of this case alone because it is in a different event cycle, and a VIOLENT allegation. He would be deemed as a repeat offender. I don’t think the owners will feel so threatened by Mulugheta this time around.
