Texans Player Transaction DISCUSSION Thread

Remember anyone going to IR (Brandon Hill) or who might go to IR or PUP. Christian Harris is a candidate for ST IR for example. Those folks won't count against the roster.

I'd also expect some churn on the roster's back end over the next few days. So, what's final today probably will not be truly final until this weekend (give or take).

Yeah the actual 53 usually takes a couple days to iron out.

They can bring back 2 of the IRd players that are put on there now, but anymore will require the usual roster gymnastics - cutting 1 year vets like Weeks or Dare and then re-signing them a day later. If anyone remembers Derek Rivers it felt like he was cut and re-signed 185 times.

It looks like all we are waiting for are the RB cuts. By my count: 10 OL, 2 Qbs, 7 WRs, 3 TEs, 9 DL, 7 LBs, 10 DBs, + weeks, Townsend, Fairbairn... That is 51. My guess is we may cut one more OL and maybe a LB, keeping 4 RBs:

RBs still on the roster: Mixon, Pierce, Akers, Brooks, Jordan, Ogunley, Taylor.

DeMeco is The Word. What he says he wants in a player couldn’t have been better expressed than by BB’s camp. This is a fairy tale beginning to the season. I could shed a tear when I think about how happy that young man must be right now.

It will be interesting to see how...and how often he is used. I suspect he'll be inactive to start the year off, and they will use the backup TEs as occasional use FBs, but I expect BB to slowly work his way up the food chain and be a real factor at FB as the season moves along. He can also spell guys at RB as well so versatility. Having a FB that is an actual threat in the run game is something different for this team. Let's see what Bobby and the boys cook up.
 
deadline is up so roster should be down to 53...some pick ups and cuts and roster managing will prob still happen, but so far so good. Glad the players I wanted stuck around and some I wanted cut got cut. Shows this staff is all about the team and winning.

Dare made the cut over Bawden and Beck. But I was close on how I saw it playing out. Mixon, Pierce, Akers, Brooks and last year’s darling Dare. I’m happy with it for damn sure compared to some rooms we have had in recent years. Let’s see if we can sneak Jordan and Taylor to the PS / IR now.

Good point. I have nothing on him as of yet. I'd be shocked if he made it. That would be 5 RB and one FB (assuming you count BB as a FB as I do)

Although the 53 is now submitted to the league office, we may still get a drip or drab out this afternoon or evening to clarify and nail down the last couple of spots.
