Texans random thought of the day

So why are you bringing up past opinions? Would you like it if people called you on past opinions? Point a finger, and three more are pointing back at you.
I was just asking a question for the entire MB.

Sorry I made your butthurt.

Haven’t seen anyone complaining about this in a long time. Who was it and when was the last time that poster complained?
Yep, only WR catching trade up complaints is Metchie still. I wasn’t a fan at the time because of the torn ACL and saw his upside capped at high end slot/WR2.

Then the cancer pushed his time table to contribute back two years and the team appears to have found a better player for his role in Tank Dell.

But end of the day, the draft is a game of numbers. And Nick traded up for all three of those WRs. It appears he hit on Nico/Tank and Metchie still has two years on his rookie contract to hit.

I like the risk taking.

I like calculated risks. As far as trading up, I'm ok with it if the guy is an espcecially good fit, or has one trait that you find exceptional, etc.

I didn't see that in Metchie. Plus you had the ACL. I just didn't see enough upside to make that move. I'm hoping I am wrong!

Now in fairness...his grade is an incomplete with many asterisks on it. It's nobody's fault that he got cancer. I'm just super happy for the young man that he seems to be ok health-wise. He seems like a high character guy, and that's probably why Nick wanted him on the team. He likes guys from big programs with high football IQ and character. I just didn't see that one special physical trait...and like I said the ACL didn't help things.

I've heard some good things from mini-camp, but I'm not ready to buy in yet. But if he shows up in camp that way....maybe we've got something. Rooting for the kid!

I seem to recall that Metchie was noted for his ability to get separation on quick routes and then his run/yards after the catch. The ACL brought this into question.

It's nice to hear he may be getting that quickness back but one thing that did bother me even last season is he still managed to drop some of the passes that did come his way. He definitely needs to improve on that as well even if no one is really talking about it.

Also there's no depth.

Man, I wish they would've drafted P. Wilson. They need a coverage LB in the worst way. Hopefully Harris/Al Shaair stay healthy.
I struggle with those injuries. My least favorite type of "depth guys" are injury prone ones.

It always happens that your starter goes down and you look to your depth guy to now step in but he's already been on IR for two weeks.

If you hit on picking him, you've got a top 15 guy in that draft. He's been healthy the last 2 yrs. Dude's really talented.

With that said I certainly can understand the Bullock pick with the injuries/crappy S play. The 1st Colts game was particularly bad. The Tampa game they won was really bad S play too. Hopefully Ward/Bullock/Petrie gets his head out of his butt/Stewart form great depth at the position and ST's play. In no uncertain terms do I want to see kickslide Murray in the secondary.

I agree about hitting but the fact he fell how he did tells me those medicals did not come out clean whatsoever.

I wish this guy could just stay retired.

That said being hired by the team for just fluff piece reporting is probably best for him at this point and best for us as fans. I just wish he wasn't the go to guy for Texans stuff for the big networks and they'd turn to someone like DJ Bien-Aime instead.
Bien-Aime is too honest with his assessments. He would be unlikely to carry the Texans' water.

McNairs allegedly facing more legal issues:
This is what happens when billions of dollars are quote/unquote available. Every one related (whether it's family or business) to Bob Mcnair is trying to fight for their chunk of his empire/wealth. Unfortunately, the lawyers are the ones who take a huge cut.

IIRC, someone on this board suggested earlier, that Cary needed a huge cash influx due to a money pit of an investment he was in.

McClain is writing for the Texans website. So you'll see even more fluff pieces from the General.
Which is fine and probably the right role for him now. I just don't need to see his bloated head when I'm watching national sports media and they need a Texans media person on.

I figured why not.. ..

my good thought.... Foster is a freaking beast. I have no idea how he has that good of vision and able to make so many people miss in that split second.

my frustrated thought

I have seen comments about Rex Ryan and how his mentality (good or bad) has infected the team and how they play

and looking at SheTexan's thread

my random thought (and I am NOT saying Kubiak needs to be like Ryan) is here are the Jets and they are going to fine Sanchez (in practice) every time he has bad body language
and I see a picture and read an article where it is from the top of the chain to the bottom...everyone is saying "it is my fault"
.. just seems like Texans have come to expect have bad things happen to them and it does.. I like the jets approach on what they are doing.

I want to see some freaking fire on the TV on sunday .. Green Bay was pumped up last night.. I hardly see the Texans get pumped up but for just a few times. (and not a D-rob pump up thing where they forget that the next play is coming)

Foster was such a beast. I loved having him in fantasy football every year

Case Keenum on Stefon Diggs: “He hasn’t lost a step”
Published June 24, 2024 08:20 AM

It’s been more than six years since Case Keenum and Stefon Diggs connected on the Minneapolis Miracle. They had one more game together as Vikings teammates, overlapped for a year in Buffalo, and are reunited again in Houston.

Keenum, speaking at a youth football camp, recently gave a glowing endorsement of his past-and-present teammate.

“Yeah, it’s really cool to get back out there and see Stefon on the practice field and to watch him absolutely do some dirty things on some routes that I haven’t seen anybody be able to do,” Keenum said, via KPRC 2. “He’s a dynamic player and he hasn’t lost a step. If anything, he has gotten more savviness and can put some extra sauce on some routes when he needs to and win. He’s done a great job of continuing to build his craft and work his tools, his tool set, and I’m excited to see what he can do in the fall.”

There’s still a story to be told about what went wrong in Buffalo. Keenum was on the team during the home playoff loss to the Bengals, when Diggs showed frustration on the sidelines. Last year, when everything came to a head, Keenum was gone.

Still, with two prior seasons as a Diggs teammate, Keenum surely knows what makes him tick. He can be a great resource for the coaching staff and quarterback C.J. Stroud regarding what it takes to get the most out of him.

It is always important to note that we have former teammates of Diggs on the roster and we know management likes to ask players what they think of other players. So for those who think he'll be a locker room disruption I kind of doubt that others like Case would have vouched for him if that were the case.

I mean I hope so. But what are they supposed to say? "Yes, he's a major pain in the arse and I have no idea why they signed him?"

Well they get asked before he's traded for or before they're drafted and yeah they can be as open and honest as they want.

It can also be the job of the GM to read between the lines, someone might not want to disparage someone else but you can pretty easily tell the difference between someone vouching for someone else and someone just trying to give a regular answer.

Back at ya Porky lol. Great comedy show back then. Now here these Schultzes you can trust them lol Col Klink will never know what we are up to but to escape from the enemy. lol
By the way since I'm here that roster list can still change before the first game no?

PEDs aside I used to freaking love me some Brian Cushing. One of the most underrated LBs of his time.
I remember that I wanted RS to trade bak into the bottom of the 1st for Matthews.

Can you imagine a LB corps of Matthews/Ryans/Cushing.
