Texans Wide Receivers

Funny thing is as a colts fan I think we need to do what the Texans are with stroud and add more deep shots particularly to Pittman and downs
I think both coaching staffs are playing to the strength of their QBs.

Minshew is more dynamic with the short throws and his mobility.
Same goes for Richardson; also with his raw experience as a passer, especially against more sophisticated NFL defenses.

The Cowboys did it for Prescott.

coming into the game Nico was 1 of the top yardage WR’s in the League. It’s realistic to believe that the jags showed him some extra attention..which in turn opened things up for Dell. So I wouldn’t say he “disappeared” per se..it’s just what happens when you’re beasting; teams take notice and adjust accordingly.

^^^^
This, they took away Collins and Dell made them pay.

Yep....Collins has made teams take notice and he was given the appropriate attention to neutralize his impact. Dell stepped in and put the NFL on notice that he can be a force if they try to cover him with single coverage. With Dell and Collins production....it's going to loosen defenses up. As I mentioned during the game, another big peg would involve getting Metchie into the action to force attention on 3 receivers. Brown and Hutchinson would be solid safety valve options anywhere on the field. Get all these guys going and blitzes are going to cool way down.....which may parlay into the run game finally moving the chains.

What’s likely going to happen is Woods being will be the odd guy out next year & Metchie steps into his role.

I think Schultz has to be the next guy up in terms of stepping up & working over the middle when teams start helping over the top with Dell and Nico. That will also open up things for Metchie to begin working underneath on those bubble/tunnel screens and whip routes..something he was very good at at Bama.

Def believe Metchie can step into those shoes once he gets some experience and rapport w/ CJ. Also dont sleep on X. Hutchinson.
I also believe now that Nico and Dell are showing out, that it will open up our underneath game to Schultz...and then we will have a 4 headed monster with Our Wr's, Te, and Rb's.

TE is a need in the next draft.

Getting the ol healthy will also help the run game.

Why? We rarely use except for blocking and ones we have don't appear very good at that.
Great WCO's all have really good, great,TE's. Look at the past SB as a guide. It's not only catching passes, which is really important, it's being able to seal the edge in the run game.

You keep saying that and I agree but we don't have a great West Coast offense. We just don't. When we get one then we can get the tight end to fit it. Every TE we draft is suppose to significantly improve us but they don't. Schultz stunningly signed with us. Has he made us better? Please do not say it's only been three games because it's only been three games for tank dell.

As long as the o-line can't o-line then the tight ends can't tight end

They arent counting on Tank Dell to block DE's either...I believe, or at least hope that when we get our starting Oline back and healthy and playing together that the TE will be utilized more b/c CJ will have time to go thru progressions and the TE should be wide open in this style of offense...especially since Nico and Dell have both had stellar games and DB's will be honing in on them more.

They need to get a difference maker at the position and there are 2 Bowers and Sanders in the upcoming draft. It usually takes a TE 2 years before he becomes a difference maker.

You do realize how they're having to use Schultz due to injuries on the ol? Expect that to continue Sunday. Comparing Schultz to Dell is an apples to oranges comparison. But you know this and you're reaching to prove a point.

Did not realize Tank has been put out wide rather than slot almost 80% of his snaps. Glowing review from Steve Smith who knows a thing or two about being an undersized WR with a chip on his shoulder…

According to Steve Smith, He plays 77% out wide and 29% in the slot for a total of 106%.. So there's still a 🤏 room for improvement to reach the 110% that Coach asks for.

Schultz has been THIS CLOSE to a some really big plays. A couple of times, he just didn't catch the ball. A couple of times, CJ just missed on the throw. There was one play where Schultz was breaking free but a LB--who was out of position--was able to make a great leaping play to knock the ball away.

I'm expecting Schultz to start showing up any game now.

They are counting on dell to do what he was drafted for. How are our TEs doing at blocking? My hope is as yours.

How are the top drafted TEs from 23 doing? Not the difference makers they were thought to be coming out of school.

I'm not comparing Dell to Schultz positionaly, rather on what each was expected to do.
Schultz was a good receiving and blocking TE. Not so much with Texans.
Caserio knew the oline was questionable before injuries happened and one of reasons he signed Schultz. Will he improve as oline does? We hope all players do.

May he show up tomorrow and be up rest of season. I was hopeful when he signed.

LaPorta, Musgrave and Mayer are doing quite well in different roles Like I said it usually takes 2 years for TE's to develop and these guys are ahead of schedule. What are your expectations for the TE position in the WCO?

I beg to differ about the ol being suspect before injury and when Scruggs, Howard back we probably will see more of Schultz in the passing game.

You thought Kenyon Green and our veteran center were going to be ok? I didn't. I'm hoping like everyone our TEs and other players improve and perhaps we will not have to draft a TE.

I'm still hoping Green can get healthy.

Which TE has the natural athletic ability and blocking prowes of say Kelce or Kittle? For that matter Waller, Hockenson or Higbee?

Remind me which one of those guys plays for the Texans? We all are hoping that Kenyon green gets healthy and then is productive.

Tell me what does Kenyon have to do with the Texans TE"s or their need for a difference making TE that all of the contenders that run the WCO seem to have?

BTW, is Green a bust after playing most of his rookie yr hurt and spending this year on yr on IR? BTW, I never thought Q was good and didn't know enough about Britt to have an informed opinion. I did back off of Britt once CnD gave his opinion on possible outcomes for Britt. Same as when CnD gave his opinion on Stingley.

Is it possible bhe could get healthy and play well. I like to judge rookies after 2 1/2 years, apparently you can judge them after injury plagued rookie seasons

Sorry I got caught up in the moment
Was Kelce, Kelce after his rookie yr? Kittle? Waller? Goeddert? Etc .. expecting a rookie TE to come in and be great as a rookie is unrealistic. IMHO

You keep Schultz around for another yr to bridge the gap for the rookie TE.

uh, you brought up Green and TEs and I responded...

Welp.....
I just came back from a short trip into the future, and let me tell you guys. NICO mofuggin COLLINS is going to ball out with his new QB CJ Stroud. AMAZING!!
You went into future and that's what you bring back? Hope you are keeping a lot to your self.

I am back, after a short break from my Nico Collins victory lap I (like Nico) am back on my horse. I was told this guy was a JAG!

Currently he is 4th in receiving yards, tied for 2nd in TD's, 2nd in plays over 20 yards, and tied for 2nd in plays over 40 yards (with Tank Dell and quite a few other players).

He is on pace for 1800 yards and 12 TD's. Very unlikely that pace holds up of course but that's the math right now
