Given the QB pool...yeah I think he can become a top 5 Qb....Brady is gone, Rodgers is done...only for sure two you have out there right now is Mahomes and Allen (had 4 to's last game), MAYBE Hurts, Burrow still hast to prove it and played and looked like shite. Will he ever be able to play all 4qtrs???, maybe lawrence...Herbert has big ? LJ has never been an elite qb...runner yes but never has been a great passer, Tua how long can he last before another injury and is a top ranked qb? Dak need I say more??? Fields??
Right now you have a period where a lot of top Vet Qb's are gone and a young field of qb's coming up.
I personally am not sure I see Stroud as having top 5 potential. But top 10 I can definitely see and you can absolutely win a Super Bowl (Matt Stafford for instance) and compete year in and year out with top 10 so that would be good enough for me

whats laughable is you already have next years class as top 5 consideration...you act like they arent going to go thru the same trials and tribulations of hoping they land in a good position with a decent team that can provide them: Coaching, an oline for protection and time, and offense that fits their style, and weapons to help them succeed...yet you wont give the same to Stroud b/c you personally dont like him as a person and who he has for an agent. THATS RIDICUOUS

Yes Allen, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, and Purdy are all young...but are those top 5??
I say there are two for sure: Mahomes and Allen
then you have good chances of maybe getting there but need to prove more: Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Lawrence, Tua, Fields
then you have good but def not top 5: LJ, Dak (DW4 used to be here but I think he's fallen off a bit)
then you have the rest of the field...

Notice I dont have Stroud, Bryce, Richardson and really Purdy belongs in this category too (he's on a good solid well rounded team...he isnt special at the qb position) because they are all rookies and still need time to show what they have and what they develop into.
Yes, I believe next yrs QB's are better than this yrs QB class.

I didn't list them because they're rookies and who knows how their careers will turnout.

The top 5 QB's are the QB's that are winning championships. Minus Stafford.
Non top 5 guys like Flacco, Ei Manning (can never spell his name) Russell Wilson, Peyton Manning (late career Peyton), and Stafford all win super bowls in the last 10-15 years. Not to mention guys like Carson Wentz, Jimmy G, Kaepernick, Goff, and Matt Ryan have all been to super bowls without top 5 QB’s

How long has it been since any of these guys have won a SB? They're all retired except for Wilson/ Stafford and they will be retiring soon.

Goff and Jimmy G are the only guys still playing on your 2nd list. If you dont have a top 5 QB you're not winning a SB. Minus maybe Jimmy G. LOL

I mean it says the time frame in the post. But To answer your question specifically it was last year! Like cmon are you even trying here

Last yr the Chiefs/ Mahomes won SB over Hurts Eagles. Both top 5 QB's IMHO

Why is everyone slobbing on Allen? Yes he’s a damn good QB, but he’s a turnover machine. He lost that game against the jets, single-handedly.
would I like him on our team, 🤷🏻‍♂️ sure I guess. But that dude thinks he’s a LB playing QB. He gave away the playoff game in Houston a few years back.
Give me Mahomes,Herbert and Burrow before that cat.

Are you being intentionally obtuse? That was this year last year Matthew Stafford won a Super Bowl. Matthew Stafford isn’t a top 5 QB
This yr is this yr. The 2022 season was last yr. BTW, Stafford is an outlier but he's very talented.

Everything with you is 'what happened last year' is the greatest thing since sliced bread and the only way to do things. Your mind is like a steel trap sometimes... a closed one
My mind isn't closed.

I just pointed out a fact.

Sorry this apparently upset you to the point you felt the need to make this post.

Hannah did a fine job of accomplishing her goals.

The answer to this post is do you believe Stroud can become a top 5 QB? If not they should've waited a yr like the Stros did. Stadium being full be damned. Impatience, but hey the stadium will be full and that's what counts to the McNair's. Is this conducive to winning championships? Doubtful.
I genuinely don't see a QB in this class other than Caleb Williams that is better than CJ was in college.

So far at least, maybe someone really jumps up as the weeks go on, but no one has been better in my eyes.

Was Eli top 5 when he won? What about Foles,Wilson, and Ben? How about Peyton in Denver or even Rodgers when he won? I'm not saying you don't have to have a top flight qb, but he doesn't have to be top 5. That helps, no doubt, but if that was the case, a whole lot of teams wouldn't have won the superbowl.

Herbert?

Agree to disagree

Rodgers, Ben and Wilson were top 5 QB's when they won SBs. Eli and Foles got hot at the right time and played like top 5 QBs in the playoffs. Peyton played with an all time great defense.

You don't have to say a top 5 QB for the last 5 SBs. All you have to ask is what QB not named Brady or Mahomes has won a SB in the last 5 seasons.

Super Bowl 53: Tom Brady 0 TDs
Super Bowl 54: Patrick Mahomes 2 TDs
Super Bowl 55: Tom Brady 3 TDs
Super Bowl 56: Matthew Stafford 3 TDs
Super Bowl 57: Patrick Mahomes 3 TDs

Go back and look through history and you will find that most of the top QB's won SB's. From Staubach/Bradshaw to Montana/Elway to Brady/Manning to Brady/Mahomes. Even when Foles won a SB he had to play at a historic level to beat the Pats and Brady.

And plenty of top QB's that never did. Marino, Fouts, Kelly, Rivers etc.
The QB's I listed were the best of the best during their time.

Fouts choked against the Oilers

Kelly had the better team and lost against the NYG in the SB

Rivers wasn't as good as the QB's that were winning SB's.

Marino you can make a case that he never had a complete team around him.

To'oTo'o is listed as the starting SAM for the game. Nice! They're also projecting Fant, Ward, and Pitre to start. Hopefully that's true.
That depth chart doesn’t take into account injuries unless they’re out on IR I believe. I think Fant will play though, would be very surprised if Pitre played however

I have posted this before but statistically speaking the defense seems to be almost as important as the QB in SB wins. Out of the last 5 SBs the team who's defense allowed the fewest points in the regular season are 4-1. Out of the last 10 they are 8-2.

no excuses

I wasn't making excuses, I was just pointing out the guys you listed (Although HOF'ers) they weren't the cream of the crop.
They were at the time. You're just using hindsight to build your excuses
