A couple of weeks ago, I heard a discussion about Stroud that in high school, he couldn't afford to go to football camps or work with a QB coach. So, he would study YouTube videos on QB play, watch videos of great QBs and worked to the point that he was the last invite to a camp with the top prospects and that's how he got noticed and received a scholarship.

IMHO, the kid will put in the work needed to be great. At this point, I've not read or seen anything that would make me question his work ethic or commitment.

Pretty telling on who dude really is and always been . Scrutinizing this young man like that. Wow.

Yep, we shouldn't scrutinize the future leader of the franchise. Or look at whether if he beats the odds and becomes successful whether a guy with his background is an outlier?

Geez Wally there are a lot of people in in the NFL and sports in general that have a background closer to Stroud than that of the typical suburban two parent, white picket fence, leave it to beaver back ground.

Ray Lewis had a even rockier past and was going against a series allegations against him. Guess what he’s a SB champion and a HOFer. There are so many success stories out there.

But hey I digress, old buddy has to stick to his outlandish agenda.

I'm not sure why he is wasting his ability to predict the future on the Texans. With his Minority Report skills, he should be helping the police catch future criminals or going through maternity wards around the country and tell parents not to invest time and effort on certain kids because he can tell they will not be a championship QBs or will be dregs of society.

I didnt post anything about being a rah-rah guy or drinking any kool-aid. Just that I was happy to see the organization finally get rid of bill O' dumbarse and stop with the retarded hirings of Culley and Smith and got a REAL coach to come in and that they made the bold moves required to win in drafting a top rated QB and DE to turn things around. Will it happen?? Idk but its a start.

I will criticize this organization and franchise when its called for and have done exactly that. I've boycotted buying ANY gear or going to games b/c I wasnt happy with the product or the direction the organization was headed, but Im optimistic about the changes made and the fact that they seem to be trying to turn things around from the dumpster fire that this organization was turned into when they let bill do what he wanted and trade away superstars for peanuts.
 
It’s not one comment, it’s the consistency in which he spreads that crazy ****. Big difference. No one can come on here and say anything positive about CJ without that nonsense. And the constant derailment of each thread.

How many QB's with the background Stroud has have won championships? That's all that matters.

I'll give you another. Ryan Day's father committed suicide when Ryan was only 9 years of age. I cannot even fathom the grief and hurt that Ryan must have felt and he was only 9. Can you imagine? In spite of that, Ryan played QB in college at New Hampshire for Chip Kelly. Thereafter he became a coach and today, at the age of 44, is the head guy at Ohio State and is married with three children. Talk about overcoming a traumatic childhood!

The claim is that the GM, the new head coach, and the new OC were ALL opposed to drafting CJ Stroud but that they were overruled by the owner because she thought that drafting CJ would be good for marketing. Is that the claim?

He’s going off what two beloved heavy hitters on here messaged him. It doesn’t matter what the actual owner’s son, his wife, GM nor what the HC said. They’re liars and those two prominent sources are all factual.

How do you know? Is it possible that the GM, head coach and OC were all overruled by the owner? That seems extremely unlikely to me but perhaps this owner does those types of things. I don't know.

It seems to me that the actual insanity is that a middle aged man (?) with what sounds like a divine sanction as a guide wants to waste constant hours berating a 22 year old draft pick who supposedly doesn’t meet his superior standards based on circumstances the 22 year old never desired or could control. My dad gave me good advice once. It didn’t involve god, work or family. He told me that a person that doesn’t meet someone’s social conventions should not draw that someone’s sense of superiority lest that person sits on a piano stool and plays the most beautiful music you’ve ever heard.

No one knows with certainty. My guess is the coaches may have wanted Anderson and ownership may have wanted Stroud. This type of division is not at all unique. Caserio found a way to get both. Problem solved.
(edit) Typical of such situations, we fans will never know "if the rumor is true".

Johnny Unitas and Bob Griese both grew up in single parent homes.

This is just like when you said Burrow’s agent wouldn’t allow him to go to the same party Stroud was at. Yet Burrow was there. And just like Burrow, Stroud hasn’t signed at this time either.

So to review - Stroud has an agent just like Burrow’s who let him go to a July 4th party, Stroud also has not signed a rookie deal at this time just like Burrow, and Stroud comes from a single parent home just like two other Super Bowl winning QBs.

The statistical correlations you try to create to judge and fail Stroud don’t exist.

I'm in the prove it mode. It doesn't help that I don't like Stroud as a person or a player and the crap that went on behind the scenes that lead to him being picked. I've seen this show before and it makes the rest of the rebuild not near as much fun..

Do they have this party every year? 2 QB's in NFL history?

Call me old fashioned but I believe you should have to prove it on the field before you become a celeb and building your brand.

Stroud wasn’t invited for his brand - he was invited for Fanatics brand. It’s annual party that started in 2021.

As a young man why the hell wouldn’t you go to rub elbows with other super star athletes and super models. It’s a holiday party. You would have been off either way.

This article is encouraging. CJ says that he and the rookie receivers are together "24/7".

In another article I read the CJ and Davis have been going the University of Houston with Schultz, Collins, Dell, and other receivers for additional practice. I think it's great that Davis and CJ are hanging out and practicing together.

After the fiasco and debacle that jack easterby and bill o' dumbarse put us through after wanting and trying to get fired and single handedly ruining this franchise and all its progress....ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING is fun at this point...and like I said the obvious decisions they have made in hiring and drafting are proof that they are trying to turn things around and hindsight being 20/20 I believe they see the error of their ways and are rectifying them.

However I don't see how attending a high profile July 4th party during a break is "building a brand" or putting his brand ahead of his team. Now if he gets some "at home with C.J." progressive commercials.. We should all be worried as hell.

He was the quarterback of that defense and leader of that team. And who cares about the position he played anyways. The point still remain the same. He had a very rocky life, then he found god and the rest was history.
