CJ Stroud year 2

If everyone stopped talking about each other right now, it would save me so much time deleting posts. If you cared about me at all, just a little bit, you would stop.

If the Texans think Will Anderson is all that hot and he's going to change the Texans defense, and the team, then they should have made the trade.

Personally, I think Stroud was a "management" pick and Anderson was a "coaches" pick (or reach).
Unless the team wanted to go with Mills another season, it was obvious we needed a QB. Maybe obvious to management, but to the new coaching staff as well. With Young the likely pick at #1, Stroud would have been part of all draft discussions leading up to draft day.

Well, for whatever reason he was picked by the Texans, he's our QB now. Let's just hope it was the right decision.

I really don't understand this "troll" thing. It comes off as a "name calling" attack on a poster. Right or wrong?

Posting an opposing viewpoint is trolling? Don't agree with "me" then "you" are a troll?

If that's the case then we are all trolls at one time or another. Troll away, it's the social media way. :wesmantexanfan:

:coffee:
I thought about putting the troll comment in quotation. I guess I should have. He's been called a troll multiple times recently, I don't do the name calling thing either. And I don't care if someone is trying to upend the apple cart, disagrees with someone just to get a rise out of them. I and only I can control how I react/feel about something and it takes a lot to get under my skin. I feel like most of the members on this board are the same way.

Why C.J. Stroud has been the most impressive player during Houston Texans OTA’s (torotimes.com)

“He’s a ball player, I can tell you that,” Ward exclaimed. “He made some great throws. Then they’re going at each other. Well, he’s been going after the defense. We made a few plays on the quarterback and he made plays on us. So he’s able to, you know, come and make these curls so confident and it’s just crazy. It’s amazing to me to actually see it, and actually come and get some reps versus the ones and make great throws. He has a lot of power and arm so, you know, that’s been promising to see.” ~ Jimmy Ward

Someone recently said that Stroud plays the QB position with "elegance" with how beautiful many of his passes are. I agree.

How is picking arguably the top rated player in the entire draft at #3 overall a reach?

Honestly, I don't give a flying pink rat's ass whose pick was what. The Texans got one of the top rated overall players AND one of the top QBs in this year's class. What they go on to do in their NFL careers, well, at least give them a ******* training camp to go through before deciding whether they're busts or not, but you can't do a whole lot better on draft day than what the Texans did. Whether it was Caserio, Hannah, Cal, the janitor or the cafeteria lady's pick, who ******* cares? What matters is this team needed a new direction and this draft, and offseason in general, was a very good start. Again though, as the draft is a crapshoot, how it turns out on the field, NO ONE knows.

As far as Stroud is concerned, I've already pointed out a bunch of good QBs the last few years who rarely win more than 6 games in their rookie seasons. So if the Texans only win 6 this year, it doesn't mean failure all around, tear it down, start over. This isn't a ******* video game. And this is a team that has only won 7 games the last TWO seasons. Winning 6-7 in 1 year would be a huge step in the right direction. Things take time.

I explained that.

So a 1st round pick next year makes it a reach, but winning 3 games to be at #2 wasn't? Prices are paid all the time. The Texans got 2 players with potential to change the face of the franchise. Whether they do or not is of course unknown, but the fact they were that aggressive to change the image of being a laughingstock is nice to see for a change.

Guys, Steel is just laying the groundwork for his gotcha moment later.

I can pretty much write his post. It’s build the narrative, set the trap, add the cheese, and wait for the bait to do its magic, then boom. The trap closes. I’m a friend of Steel, he adds some spice…but let’s not lie either. He is selling a narrative so that he can pull the rug out from underneath it later.

I don’t know who his crew is.

I think it’s rather weak sauce to say he has a crew but then say “they know who they are.”

If you are going to call people out don’t fold your hand and runaway.

Tell us who his crew is.

I dont know who my crew is.
I’ll be in Steel’s posse.

Let’s go Stroud! (for football talk)
Put this guy in my crew.

But disagreements are so rare on this board. :pirate:

This guy too, rumor is he's got the best got the best ganja.
Where is the fun in that?

Asking for a friend.

This guy seems like a fun guy. I like Fun, hopefully he will be willing to join my crew. LOL.

Cnd is real smart, I like smart guys, he can join my crew.

This depends on what you think about Stroud.

I would rather be bad than mediocre.

So basically chill out and wait to see what the product looks like before passing judgement? I can agree with that.

That said, I still have my (worthless) opinion on the draft. I would have rather had Anderson, the #12 pick, the #33 pick and both of next years first round picks than Stroud. Is it worth arguing over? Not to me.

The reality is, according to some data collected from 2000 to 2017 50% of quarterbacks drafted in the top ten eclipse 24 TD's in a season at least once in their career. 50% in the top ten threw for 4,000 yards in a season. NFL Draft Prep: How Successful are First Round Picks? – QB List (pitcherlist.com) When I say I believe Stroud will be an average NFL quarterback I say it with the knowledge that the odds that he'll hit those milestones listed above consistently are against him. And I like the guy. I like his interviews, I think he's genuine, sincere and confident.

For the most part, I prefer more picks (I believe the more picks the better your odds are that you're drafting solid starters) unless I'm real sure the guy I'm giving up premium picks for is going to be a plus starter. I don't get that from Stroud. I don't get it from Anderson even though he was my first choice at #2.

I think it is safe to say that it's way too early to call it a reach or not. The young man needs a season or two to prove his value. When the times comes for his 2nd contract, we will know at that point if the juice was worth the squeeze. Until then, we all have our opinions on the matter and are entitled to them.

For Stroud they gave up 1-12, the 33rd player in the draft, which is like having the 1st pick in the 2nd rd. Like another 1st rd pick. Pick 4-105 and another 2024 1st.

Was stroud worth three 1sts and another almost top 100 pick? IMHO no way was a top 12-15 QB worth that much.

I agree. But they did select Stroud and getting Anderson also made it a good draft imho. Next year is much too cloudy to worry about now

If he's successful that will be after yr 3. DM will make it where the cap is destroyed, but Stroud will get paid and that's all Stroud/DM care about.

Yes.

Totally agree with that part.
If Anderson is not a reach at 1.3, I agree, but if the trade was too expensive then what should it have been compensation wise? would the Cardinals go for much less? Nobody “likes” giving that 2024 round one but it is not unreasonable to assume that the Texans wont be in the position next year to get the best player in the draft. They just moved it up a year. How much would it cost them in 2024 to move up to get next year’s best player in the draft? Could taking Anderson out of this young team’s defense this year possibly be a negative factor nobody is paying attention to? Also he just might be critical to Stingley’s and Pitre’s development in yet unknown ways.

Drafting Will Anderson at 1.3 is not a reach, it's a good pick. Throwing in another 1st round pick to make that 1.3 pick is what makes it a reach. I love the pick, I don't love the price. If he turns out to be worth it, then I'll love the price as well.

and I don’t think the extra picks should be attributed to Junior but to Stroud

Oh ya, well I'm starting my own crew! I'm going to call it the Motley Crue. Just 4 of us is all we need, and we're going to play guitars and take drugs and have women everywhere. Maybe we'll get a model to marry one of us. It will be wild! Follow me for more completely original ideas.

Dont forget to wear makeup and lots of leather and lace!

Wait! I just got sources...
Now I gotta get a crew?
I don't like joining anything. Well except Texanstalk!

Any organization that would allow me to be part of it, I wouldn't join.

Poorly paraphrased from Groucho Marx.

It’s OTAs and mini camps. I don’t remember a lot of pertinent info emerging from these. I do remember fans going to training camp and relaying their opinions. I hope we see that again.

In the meantime, what’s so bad about and ?

It all depends on whose rainbows and unicorns we are discussing.

It's a TT fact, one's members rainbow & unicorn is another's members BS.

Anyone claiming that a team "should" win 10 games, coming off a 3 win season, with a rookie HC, rookie QB, rookie OC, rookie DC and greater than average offseason roster turnover has bumped their F'n head.
Hey aren’t we playing in the weakest division in football? Do we not have the weakest schedule?

The Great Kevin Garnett screamed “ Anything is Possible “, after winning the NBA championship. So I’m inclined to believe literally anything is possible. Go ask the Bengals.
