2023 TEXANS DRAFT DISCUSSION

I never bought the whole tanking for 24 nonsense. Made zero sense. Once Demeco was hired it was all about the W’s. And with these moves tonight, anyone still doubting that this rebuild has moved into hyperdrive is sorely mistaken. This team is back to relevance. Great big step forward in this rebuild. By 24, we’re contenders again.

I'm happy the Texans traded next year's first... so that there's absolutely no talk about tanking next season. Let's f'in win some ball games!
I do agree that we should now be more competitive this year and the value of our 1st round (traded away) next year should not be as much as it would have been otherwise. Expectations just increased a bit. Definitely no tanking now. Which should make the games more enjoyable to watch.

Oh, they're going to win games, probably 7-8 next yr. Unfortunately, most likely they will end up with a top 15 cap busting qb in 3 yrs and mediocrity, but hey, fans will be back in the stands and will be entertained. That's all that matters to some, including the McNair's.

Texian wanted us to draft his crush Stetson Bennett in the first rd. Him calling Stroud a bust before he plays a down after that call on Bennett? Priceless.
Your words not mine, I just said Bennett is the better QB. Given a choice between the two, I like Bennett.

Whose consensus? Yours?

Well seeing as you think one person can be a consensus maybe I misjudged..

The general consensus is that a future pick is valued one round later than the trade year. It's researchable, no biggie.

I just was trying to clarify if you were going with that or your own unique super special formula.

If it's the latter I was just curious how you came to that. Again, just curious, no biggie.

I don’t consider a 2024 1st rd pick a depth guy.

I genuinely think we should make a "declarations thread." You’re on board or you aren't. Posters here quickly forget who they wanted and didn't 3 years into a career. Especially, when arguing with other posters.

I think I've been consistent.

Well buckle up because we have at least a few years of a few fans that no matter the success we have heels are dug in against their own players because it’s not who they wanted or how they wanted the 1st round to play out. Yea they may have the occasional celebration post but they’ll have the “I told you so” in their back pocket at every set back or loss.

It didn’t go exactly how I wanted either but I’m buying in as a fan. Getting two top players in a relatively weak overall draft is a win IMO. I’ve spent far too long watching a FO and org as a whole tip toeing through the tulips. Im backing my guys as a fan. I’ve yet to see any member here post their NFL GM resume. You win some and lose some but FFS at least we rolled the dice for once.

I like your post. I like it a lot.

They've entered mediocrity land again. They drafted a top 10-15 QB. Improvement as soon as next yr, yes. Championship level QB? Nope.
So you had Stafford as a chip QB? What about a hardly serviceable Brady three years ago? They’re plenty examples of a mid range QB taking it all. So Caleb W. is? So if no QB now then when? No one can seem to really answer that question. If Caleb never wins a chip do we get to conveniently blame it on where he ends up? Let’s lay down some ground rule here yes? I mean you seem to want a guy coming out of college to have been to the Super Bowl no?

I was a Reggie Bush stan back in the day. Glad to have a draft where I am not one of the butthurt people for once.

Very clearly a McNair pick. Same as always in Houston. I just hope he either kills it or flames out. Nightmare scenario is he is the 15th best QB in the league and we decide to pay him

His solution to the QB problem was to tank the entire 2023 season to draft a QB in 2024.
