2023 TEXANS DRAFT DISCUSSION

Levis IMO is only up there because he has the look and a big arm. He's another Zach Wilson.

Absolutely nailed it. I've compared him to both Wilson as well as Ryan Leaf. He's got a lot of natural ability, but I think he's a first-class douche and he's going to end up having a team of men that don't like the guy that's leading them. This is a recipe for a bust at QB. Yes of course, there is a chance he puts it all together, changes his attitude and gets down to work, but I'm very skeptical of that. He's 5th on my list of 5 and there's a lot of distance between him and #4 on my list (Hooker).

I'm not buying that he's the Demeco Ryans type of guy for this locker room. For a day or two, I was buying the Levis speculation, but the more I thought about it, it just didn't make any sense. I don't see any scenario under which Levis is a Texan. I'm not buying it whatsoever. I could see any of the other 3 guys (minus Bryce for obvious reasons) but no way on Levis.

I'm not as high on Levis. He's a mid to low 2nd rounder. Granted, all it takes is one to pull the trigger. I get it. But I'd be shocked if the overall general consensus among GM's is that the guy is a top 10 pick. I don't see it. And he's a total asshole. It's usually not a good idea to turn off the hiring manager. Just saying...don't be shocked if he falls to either the back half of the first round or even the 2nd round. I think he's rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

You don’t like Levis in much the same way I don’t like Stroud. More than half of it is here-say BS spouted during lying season but it’s sunk in and you double down on it the longer you wait to hear what’s actually going to happen.

Me too.

OMG!! Are you one of those? If you don’t want the pick spoiled stay off ******* Twitter. And I don’t get the spoiling pick thing anyway. The whole purpose of this is knowing what the picks are. Who ******* cares if it’s leaked?

:hankpalm:

Because it's part of the pageantry of the draft to hear it announced at the podium.

And it's fun to discuss and be on social media or here on this forum too. That's what we've been doing for months now, right? And that's how we follow our teams and connect with fans, right? But you now even have talking heads on radio and TV talking about picks before they're announced too. It's unavoidable and it sucks.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was just on twitter... it's the posting of it here that ruins the watching of the draft for the rest of us. If you want to get your draft info via twitter fine but don't post it here until after the fact

If Anderson is the pick at #2, and when #12 rolls around Levis and Hooker are both there, do you take one of them?

It would be a massive and expensive trade if they pulled it off too soon….but I’d be fine with the Titans moving up to 3. Colts fully understand what would be happening and could place a call to the Texans for the #2. This move could land the Texans Anderson at 4, take the Titans out of the running for Hooker at 3, give the Texans pick 2-035, and a 2024 RD1. That would be a massive….massive….massive win for the Texans.
If it leaked that AZ had traded down before Texans moved.

I have to disagree.

You need a "Franchise Quarterback." You don't need a bust at #2.

If you don't believe in that player, you don't pick him.

Picking the wrong guy is worse than the fact that you don't have the right guy to begin with.
Out of all the drafts I’ve been around I don’t ever remember hearing so many stupid theories.

We have to draft a QB @ 2

We have to take a WR @12

We have to take a QB or the fans won’t have hope.

I only have one theory .... "you have to get the QB position right"

Getting it wrong is worse than not getting it at all - because you are wasting time and not at all likely to get it right while you are screwing around with the wrong guy. Teams give these guys 2-3 years before they call it a failure and move on.

Mahomes and Allen were both considered huge gambles coming out of college. One had a pretty lackluster resume with nothing really accomplished on it and the other was Allen. Even Burrow had the knock of being only a one-year starter. And yet somehow all developed into top tier QBs...odd that.

Draft the QB you think is best and move on.
If you are going to gamble, which is what I want them to do if they go QB, then pick Levis or AR.

Guys, Levis will not be available at 1.12. Forget it. If the Texans are going to nab a QB, it has to be with 1.2 or maybe just a slot or two down if they trade the 1.2. If you're gonna take a QB, do it BEFORE you get to 1.12.

They think that Levis is going to fall due to situations like Jackson making the Ravens have no need for a QB. As well as the need for good edge and DBs. I saw 2 mocks with Young taken 1.1 and no other QB to 4.

Which is worse? Drafting a guy that doesn't pan out and you give up on him after 2 seasons? Or 3 seasons from now, you're still looking for your QB while Stroud is a franchise QB.
