2023 TEXANS DRAFT DISCUSSION

Yes sir and that's why I'm wondering. Maybe they got all the medicals back and found a red flag. I'm still on the idea that it's Young at 1.1, but if this crazy scenario with Levis at 1 materializes, the obvious question is why? The size spook them last minute? Or could it be the shoulder. Food for thought.
If they get spooked by his size at the last minute, after what they gave up getting the 1.1 pick, the GM should be fired immediately. Betting odds are set to move money.

Remember you had Andre Johnson and Steve Slaton that year right?

Hah, yeah. I remember when that game was starting and everyone was talking about how cold it was and how the Texans weren't going to be ready for it. But a lot of the Texan players were from the north.

What's crazy was that Kubiak's coaching staff at that time included Kyle Shanahan, Matt LeFleur, and Robert Saleh and Demeco Ryans was still playing for us.

Much love for the Texans. Great team.

I am in the minority, but I like Will Levis. I think he has by far the most potential of this crop. Every prospect has risks, I would rather take a risk on someone like him than Young or Richardson. (Stroud sounds like he is out because of his agent and connections).

"Texans do things differently; took Stingley even when most people had Sauce over him, took Kenyon Green over other o line man that were better, texans keep things close to the vest, I am hearing the Demeco formula is to get a long defensive guy and that is Tyree who had a leg injury but the medicals have been cleared, Lombardi has the same thing who has ties to Caserio from New England"

I would take Levis or Richardson over Stroud. Levis was hurt last year and had a terrible supporting cast. Richardson had some bad passes at the beginning of the season, but his receivers were abysmal. They had 9 drops in the 2nd half of one game. I believe (I could be wrong) had either one of them played at OSU and Stroud played at KY or UF we wouldn't be talking about him.

Was Nix the guy we drafted a few years back that didn't have the desire to bein the NFL. Think he got hurt and never came back. Memory is a bit foggy on this. NFL requires 100% commitment.
He was stuck in his time with the Irish. Everything on his social media after being drafted was about Notre Dame.

RIP LN

He was one of them. There were a couple of others. I can't remember the guy's name who tried his hand in the WWE.

Irish Chocolate. Boy, did I take abuse on the forum when I said Nix should have been a 3rd round pick. Everyone here thought he was the steal of the draft.
Taking a guy in the top 3 with a foot injury is such a Texans thing to do. Come on DeMeco. Don't let me down like this.

This is the Texans board room when the pick is made.

Stingley needs a buddy to hang out with in the training room.

Got to use No. 12 on a terrible guard, really need to sure up that vital position.

If that's actually what happens, then we'll know the Texans are still the Texans despite DeMeco. Which will be a huge disappointment, but not particularly surprising.

I’m telling y’all the scouting department is full of Methodist employees.

Is the foot degenerative? As long as he passed the medicals, and it's not a condition likely to keep deteriorating, I'm good.

Wilson is my favorite D guy in this entire draft. I'd take him over W Anderson or Levis. I'd still take Stroud and maybe Richardson over Wilson, but I can see the logic and easily hop onto that train. Look how the 49ers built that D from the inside out. Sure, the pick will be booed loudly at the draft party. Shades of 2011.

Ok this is kinda out of the blue, but I've been thinking about Jimmy G. I could see the Raiders loving Richardson or possibly Levis. If they take one of these guys, any chance of a trade that gives us Jimmy G? Demeco and Slowik know him, he knows this offense and that trade gives us a legit QB for 2023. Once 2024 rolls around, we can see where things stand. Jimmy has a 3 yr deal with an out after 1 as I understand it.

Please allow jimmy g to ride off into the california sunset

Coach comes off as a straight shooter. I highly doubt he will flat out lie like that. And he was giving his opinion on those two players.

He’s not “lying” in this instance. He’s just not showing his cards, which is absolutely the correct thing to do. I don’t want a “straight shooter” as you put it, giving away his leverage. That would be stupid. The talking heads are saying that the Texans are the most tight lipped of all the teams in this draft. Someone convince me that’s a bad thing.

Nix indeed really never showed initiative. He was to be Drafted in the 1st rnd, but dropped way down to 87. due to his extensive presence on social media spouting stupid along with concerns that his weight (which had been high and not ccontrolled) and conditioning might be an ongoing issue on the professional level. In the offseason following his Draft, he had surgeries on his knee and wrist, and never was able to come back to ever play a single down for the Texans. His effort to recover was considered dubious.

Get Levis or Stroud at #2. Dont even DARE get a f'n DE. This is QB league... you MUST have one.
We have three QBs. We are hoping we don't get another one like Mills. That is what discussion is about. Not everyone thinks Stroud or Levis is the guy. If Texans don't, they better get a guy at 2 or a trade down that will be the guy at his position. This first pick has to hit a homer.

One of the reasons I want more round 2 pics. Do you think Demeco could find a way to play Sanders?

I'm not too knowledgeable in terms of tactics and such but just looking at the footage, it seems like this is the type of guy that you'll put him on the field wherever and he'll find the action. Cushing-y.

My QB Prediction:

#1 Carolina - Will Levis
#2 Indianapolis via Houston - Bryce Young (Huge trade haul)
#3 Arizona - Jalen Carter
#4 Las Vegas via Houston - CJ Stroud (another huge trade haul)

.
#7 Houston via Las Vegas - Anthony Richardson
I hope the trades work out like the ones I made on PFF!!!😅😅

I don't totally disagree with you. I've used the word "athlete" 100 times with this guy. He's not yet a QB. He's an athlete. But if they aren't taking CJ (and he's still the guy I'd take) then it seems to me that Richardson is the next man up if they stay put at #2. Yes, he's a project. But he's a project with a huge upside. Big arm talent. Perfect size for the position and speed like a RB. I get it...he could bust. But at the very least, he can use his athleticism at the outset whenever they decide to throw him to the wolves. And he seems like a smart kid. I think he can get there personally, but yes, he does have some bust potential. But to me, less of a chance of a bust than Levis.

To put it another way, if I'm in the room and Nick and gang are like ok guys, we're taking Levis or Richardson at 2. Let's take a vote and majority wins. I'm raising my arm as high as I can for Richardson. I don't like Levis and see Ryan Leaf when I look at him. If it's Levis, I'll find some way to get on the caboose of that train, but it won't be easy.
Taking a project at 1.2 on this roster? Nuh uh. No how. No way.

It really shouldn't matter. We're drafting a bridge QB, based on the state of the team.

Come on man. You're trying to convince me that if we draft a 1st round QB, he's nothing but a bridge QB? You've got to up your game man. You're sliding lol.

I've been saying it all along. Just like when we drafted Watson.

Tom Brady isn't getting this team to a Super Bowl. Hopefully they can build a good team while "developing" a QB. But by the time they do get the team ready, it'll be time for a new QB. Look at Matt Stafford in Detroit.

Nix’s draft fall but some have suggested Nix’s extensive presence on social media along with concerns that his weight and conditioning might be an ongoing issue on the professional level could have been the cause of his tumble.

In the National Championship game against Alabama, Nix was a non-factor. The Bama C pretty much had his way blocking Nix. Nix was an NT who never required a double team to block him.

I'm hoping for the trade downs you list, just not with the player you have us taking at 7.

I don't see that being the case at all. You are getting your QB either this year or next year. Enough time has passed since Watson for the rebuilding thing to be over with. The team should at least be competitive in 2024. Probably not playoffs, but ready to make the jump.

If the Texans aren't on the rise in 2024, then they completely pissed away the haul they got for Watson.
