You don’t pick a QB just because you need one……Especially at number two. You have to love the QB. And it appears they don’t love Stroud. Its such a Texan move to get scared and not pick a QB when you need a QB.

That would be CK.I’m starting whichever knows how to read NFL defenses, how to call the play in the huddle, & make the calls at the line.
For me, it’s not about developing a QB. It’s building a foundation for our future QB.
Next Thursday night I am prepared to be informed that the Texans have been diagnosed with Leprosy.I don't watch college football, but as a Texans fan I know that the one QB prospect that "sometimes one works" will be the one the Texans pass and falls to the Colts. lol
And I'd rather take a chance with a rookie QB than Davis Mills or Case Keenum. If either of these guys are the Texans starting QB in 2023, I think all the hope I had for DeMeco will just blow away like smoke in the wind.
Then don't draft the guy, but leaking you don't like a specific guy for 3 weeks is just dumb it eliminates teams willing to trade up because they know now you weren't drafting the guy.
Of course it is, and I can't wait to do it.![]()
The QB position is far too key to ignore. For those of you that are so dead set on taking a QB in this draft, this is the year to build a great foundation (offense & defense) for the QB we take next year. And, next year we have two 1st round picks & all of our 1st round picks in future years. Since there are no Andrew Luck type players coming out next year, offering 2-3 1st round picks should be able to get us one of the top projected QB's. So, quit worrying about it. This team is on the right path to becoming a Super Bowl contender. And if done right, a Super Bowl contender for many years to come.
Huge assumption on your part that Texans are leaking anything. I think we have to be extremelyThen don't draft the guy, but leaking you don't like a specific guy for 3 weeks is just dumb it eliminates teams willing to trade up because they know now you weren't drafting the guy.

Agree. It also lets Carolina know we are not trading up for the first pick so they can start lowering their expectations. It makes teams know you might be targeting THEIR player after the consensus for us was a qb. It means we're a threat to do anything and increases trade possibilities.
It's exactly what we should be doing. Arizona at #3 is no longer the biggest pivot point in the draft. We are.
Nicely done Nick.

You're reaching as usual. If you go back and read, I had issues with him staying in the pocket too long and not using his legs last year, not even this past season. Posters want to use a 1 sided conversation. You speak of his wrs, yet all those guys at those big programs have studs at wr. Burrow had Chase, Jefferson and a 1400 yd back in the backfield. If a guy makes a bad play he makes a bad play. That play was a jailbreak. It was a throw away. I notice you didn't mention the supposed #1 didn't play the entire season. Yep, keep pushing Bortles and Carson WentzIt's his fault because under pressure he threw an airball pass falling backward off of his left leg. Because of his awkward throwing position, he couldn't get any zip on the ball or enough strength to throw the ball out of bounds.
I'm not sure why you're fascinated with Burrow and LSU unless you're trying to make an argument that Stroud is better than Burrow. That I disagree with and is a bet I would happily make.
You can either believe what your eyes and ears are telling you or become infatuated with the player and make excuses for his poor play.
How long did it take cincy to rebuild? What about the Rams after that sham job by fisher? This is the NFL where parity rules the day. It doesn't take 5 years to rebuild a team even without extra picks. 3 yrs tops, we just witnessed it in Cincy.I guess people are forgetting this is a rebuild lol
For this team? No.We should only be taking a QB with a number 2 overall if you think there is a likely chance they can develop into a top 10 QB. Don’t take someone who’s ceiling is a middle of the pack player just because our current QBs suck.
If you think there's a natural born leader, sure. But I wouldn't take a guy because he's the best of this year's bunch. That would be CK.
So, in that scenario, you absolutely draft a potential starter to develop now and start growing and familiarising with the team and play some snaps in garbage time.
That way he can be about as well equipped as possible to start in 2024 without being thrown in the deep end.
Hate this. I'd much rather hear the Panthers are taking Young.
Yes please
it's like when you're undecided about dinner and you give her the choice...she picks restaurant "x" and it elicits a feeling that tells you preferred "y"
i want the little person
FIFYOtherwise you have Stafford in Detroit, Rivers in San Diego, Kosar in Cleveland

Some team probably throwing rumors to cater his draft stock so they can get himCan I get a summary of the reason why now?
Not true. Also, if Bryce was actual NFL playing size, there would be a much further gap between him and Stroud. It’s funny. The Stroud folks can’t even tell you why they want the Texans to draft him. Other than they say the Texans NEED a QB.
Hey rude
Call me very skeptical re. the "leaked" scores.
Lance was way ahead of this. He also said this morning that a team had Stroud retake it because they were so concerned and he scored similarly.
Good lord

I WIN! Who are two NFL QBs who have had better success in the NFL than any Texans QB?Yep, keep pushing Bortles and Carson Wentz
I agree. I have Nolan Smith as the #1 player on my board and I think he is in the Top 10 on most team boards. Is Nick foreshadowing Anderson or trading back?Nick on 610: "I think this first round has to the potential to maybe be a little more unpredictable than people think."
Went on to say teams follow their process, aren't necessarily relying on "information on the periphery that may or may not matter."
He rarely gives information out like this.

Last year at this time Bryce Young and CJ Stroud were that guy that people couldn't wait forCaleb Williams is considered that in the top of the top-tier prospects. My guess is that half of the posting about waiting until next year is the fantasy that the Texans can suck again or trade for the next generational talent. Some posters are aware that what they are doing, and some not.
I would give them a 7th round pick from the 2025 draft. I'm not interested in him at all.For a third round pick for next year’s draft.
That doesn't surprise me. Georgia Bulldog will a great combine.I have Nolan Smith as the #1 player on my board
I wrote a couple weeks ago that positionally, these prospects at the top are clumped together. Wilson/Anderson, Bryce/CJ, three or four receivers have very little separation between them. It's going to be a very interesting draft. More and more I believe the Texans are taking Tyree Wilson at #2. Which I would be okay with, not thrilled. I still think Anderson is going to be really good in the NFL.Nick on 610: "I think this first round has to the potential to maybe be a little more unpredictable than people think."

Young scores well on the S2. That makes sense, if the S2 correlates to QB decision making.
Maybe he didn’t take it seriously, which would be even worse, IMO.Young scores well on the S2. That makes sense, if the S2 correlates to QB decision making.
Will Levis scores well on the S2. That doesn't make a lot of sense, if the S2 correlates to QB decision making.
CJ Stroud scores...an 18? CJ Stroud, the guy with a career 1.4% INT rate?
I would need more info to see how exactly the S2 correlates to NFL QBs. Because it doesn't seem to correlate to college QBs very consistently.

I’ve noticed some of us get a kick out of being negative towards there own.
Ask ClevelandWhich is worse?
Drafting a QB high who ends up being below average or worse?
or
Not drafting a QB who ends up being a franchise QB?
