& we can start talking about Case Keenum

giphy.gif
Lol some never stopped talking about him.

Case makes sense now that I think about it because he's a solid vet guy that can be the #2 for you as well as be a mentor type for Bryce. Mills isn't that guy. He can't even put his shoes on the correct foot, and needs to watch videos of Mr. Rodgers to tie them correctly. Mills can be #3 and sit down and shut up or ship him to Outer Mongolia where he can become a backup falconer. I really don't care as long as I don't have to watch him kill my fandom anymore.

I also feel this means Bryce or CJ will be starting very early in their rookie season. Might be game 1, but if it isn't...won't be long. Case isn't the "I'm starting this entire year" guy to let some rookie mellow. He's spot start guy...play a couple of games to let Bryce see it from the sideline, then throw Young/CJ in and let him do his thing. Can't wait to see it.

BTW - after today's events, anyone that still thinks that the Texans are passing on a QB at 1.2...I don't even know where to start. But your fantasy (which always was a fantasy) has been shot down in flames. I've always thought it was 99% they were going QB at 1.2. After today, it's a no doubt about it 100%. Welcome to Houston BY or CJ!

Dang! I thought it was Casey Kasem. Oh well I can still get my top forty from the sixty seventies and eighties from our boombox coordinator.

Ridgeway is set to reunite with Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans after the two spent last season together in San Francisco. A veteran defensive tackle who broke into the league in 2016 with the Colts, Ridgeway has appeared in double-digit games just twice over the last five seasons. Still, he's a familiar face for Ryans and the re-tooling Texans and can serve as a run stopper for this upcoming season. per Rotoworld

&#@$*& - Come on Casserio. Quit the bargain bin short-term shopping and sign a guy that actually makes a difference and lock him up long-term. I'm not saying we've got to go to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, but could we at least go to the Woodlands Mall instead of Dollar General? supposedly, this was the year when Nick was going to step up and show us what he can do with some legit cap space. This is his grand plan to take this team up a level or two?

Meanwhile, Bears sign Edmunds and 49ers nab Hargrove from Philly today. True difference makers at key positions. We sign a bunch of guys that look up to all of the JAGS in the NFL. This ain't jack squat. Nick better do something in FA worth a sheet, or he has to absolutely nail this draft and the next or he can walk the plank.

Yes because these players have absolutely no say in where they sign. They have to sign with the Texans if offered a contract...

Excuses are for losers. The worst team in the league signed the best LB available. Jessie Bates is arguably the best safety available. He's going to ATL.

Nick says hold my beer, we're signing a bunch of guys that are camp bodies and ST players. Aren't you happy yet?

Give me a freaking break. This guy is a joke as a GM. He needs to step up his game. He's got the money, he's got a hot new rookie QB about to be in the fold, he just signed the hottest young HC in the NFL.

Again, what is the excuse? I'll give you the answer before the test is given - there is none other than Nick's incompetence as a GM.

Slightly over the top reaction based on this being the first 4 hours of FA. If nothing changes over the next few days then I will be irritated. Until then, I’d rather wait and see. When he was at the podium a couple of weeks ago and asked about FAs, I did not get the sense that he was going to bring a high cost guy in. Think he said something along the lines of spending a lot on a FA fails to workout with the new team a lot. I am heavily paraphrasing.

I think 2nd tier is the best we will see and what we see now will be the SOP while he is running the show.

Need to keep all sharp objects out of Porkys' reach. 🤣

And we haven't even had the draft yet.

I can't wait to see the reaction when Mills is named starter this season.:D

:coffee:

Dude, that's not happening. There is zero chance Mills starts this year unless there is major injury issues ahead of him.

I'm ok with 2nd tier. These guys aren't even 3rd tier. They are dollar store rejects. We accept this crap which is why the team sucks. There's no pressure from fans or media, and no accountability to the fans, who ultimately pay the bills because the fans are blase.

Now I'm hearing that our best DE is going to the Browns. They didn't even keep the one FA on this team that's worth a damn.

Ya...but keep making excuses for this failure of a GM. He couldn't even lose right. Should have fired Lovie before he had a chance to screw the Texans over. He's an incompetent boob...and I generally like boobs. But if he was a boob, he couldn't fill in an A cup.

Strike another premium FA from with the wish list...

Anybody know what happened to SteelbTexan anyway?

He got pissed at someone, not sure who. Guess he got thin-skinned or something over something said to him so he said he was taking an extended break. We could use his input because there are certain guys that stir the shake. Sometimes you might shake your head, but they keep the conversation moving. He was one of those guys here. I don't care what anyone says about me. My ego isn't caught up in an online forum in the slightest. This is the candy store of life - a distraction from reality. So, fire away!

He got mad at one of the Mods.

Every year, I read a thread similar to this one about who is winning FA. People overreact. I could not care less about winning FA. I care about winning football games. Signing top tier FAs doesn’t mean we will be a good team. NFL history has many examples of this. But by all means, don’t let me discourage any of you from freaking out. I’m going to do something crazy like…I don’t know…wait until we have our 90 man roster before I start roasting the Texans FO.

I’m not making excuses. And I didn’t say the guys that have been signed are 2nd tier. They are filler and I know it. I’m just not over reacting 5 hours into the “tampering” period of free agency. If they don’t bring worthwhile guys in at some point I will be irritated. No free passes from me. Won’t give them a dime if things are done exactly like the last 2 years. They need to start creating a real foundation.

I imagine FA will be much better for the Texans after the draft. Team will be more appealing to guys when they know there will be a real QB under center, instead of Davis Mills.

Hmmm....I wonder if these are guys that DeMeco wants. Didn't they say the coaches would all get together and discuss which FA's they wanted to go after? It's just Nick's job to try and sign them, but he also has to compete with other teams trying to sign them as well. I think it would be nice to be able to sign every player we want, but those players also have a say in where they choose to go.

Yep the worst team in the NFL aka Texans. You have to appeal to free agency players and attract them with money contracts but also to a winning team. It's possible some very talented players don't want to play for the Texans.

While we are placing our hopes / guesses on crystal balls.

Mine says:
Mills starts the next two years, then is traded for a first round pick. Then our sixth round pick qb this year takes over for the next ten years.:trophy:

Young retires after three games with a ruptured spleen and kidney failure.
Stroud is TE for the Houston Gamblers in 2025.

This forecasting is soooo easy.

Well maybe just maybe the Texans in the 3rd year of their first year of rebuilding are finally getting it right. In year 1 you take out all of the trash and you do not make a BIG splash in free agency. If the Texans get rid of the Cooks and Tunsil contracts this year and start 2024 with $200MM in cap space, then they will be on the road to redemption.

that would sound real good fir shir

It is so much easier to attract better talent when you’re winning or you have young up in coming team. Right now the Texans doesn’t have either one.
yep as I always say this after decades of Oilers Texans and Astros (finally did it) when impatience kicks in this is what saves me during these times - "Lord grant me patience but please HURRY!" 😅

so the Bears and Falcons are now good attractive teams but the Texans arent? This is the kind of mind numbing propaganda we are being fed and you are falling for it. Could it be that this team is run by a dysfunctional GM and hired by adysfunctional owner?

The GM is not dysfunctional. I understand you don’t like him but let’s not crap on him for taking this job here in Houston. Like I said I’m not impressed right now.

As far as the Falcons and Bears, they are not nowhere close to the dysfunction that the Texans were in.
