What do you like about Gannon over the others?
Even though my initial choice was Ben Johnson, I generally prefer defensive to offensive coaches.

With Johnson's surprising success with the Lions, I was willing to try to catch lightning in a bottle.

Gannon's defense has steadily improved over the past couple of years and he took over a defense that was not great and got it going in the right direction. His experience is with the defensive backfield which I think we could use.

I love Demeco. I loved him as a player and think he's a great guy, but he inherited a monster defense that was packed with talent. I feel like Gannon did not.

With Evero, he's only be a coordinator for a year. I'd like for him to get another year's experience at least. His defense has done well given the situations it's been put in, but he inherited a pretty good defense and I don't think they improved under him (although that could be just an indication of how bad the offense was... 32nd in scoring).

I'd be fine with Steichen or Kafka, but like I said, I prefer defensive coaches where I can get them.

And then with Payton... he brings a lot of credibility, but I'd prefer someone younger with more fire. I've never been a fan of hiring coaches who've already won it all; they rarely live up to expectations.

The teachers on his proposed staff.
It's all rumor at this point. Could be fire where the smoke is, but no guarantees.

I'm sure a fair amount of the analysis that Nick is doing and will figure into the eval is who the HC candidate wants on his staff, especially at OC, DC, ST and QB coach.

Hopefully, Nick can control himself long enough not to tell the HC who will be on staff. Suggestions are fine, but the HC needs the leeway to pick his guys. **hopefully he strongly suggests Ross at ST.

You can only go by what's been reported.

Someone should really tell him what the joke/snafu is - I don't think he is going to be able to figure it out otherwise.

First time I have seen ego make someone 'reading' blind.
I'm still sitting on a lot of jokes.

David and the Dominos is his favorite band.
David Jeter spread herpes to how many women?
Was Bo David really a 10 with those small breasts? I say 9-1/2 tops.

If we get Gannon and he brings in the QB coach for OC and then OC is as successful as we want; will he be gone after one season to be HC elsewhere?

I went ahead and voted for Gannon. The coaches that have been associated with Gannon is what pushed me over the top on him. Kafka is a close second for me. With what Kafka did with Daniel Jones really pushed him to the top of my list.
I’m switched. I want Kafka because I don’t want the offensive mind to take a HC job as soon as they have success and risk the offense regressing. Offensive HC keeps that offense running smooth.

i hope we pass on dinosaur payton and we keep all our picks. instead we hire a fresh new offensive minded coach to bring up our new qb with the 2nd pick. we need a new start at qb not leftovers in FA. best available qb then wr in 1st rd.

Kafka sounds like a very good candidate. I would prefer an offense minded coach. However, I suspect that Gannon is the front runner. The good thing about Gannon is his supposed group of coaches that he would bring with him. But, there is no guarantee that they would actually come with him. That concerns me a lot. If they don't come with him his ranking in my mind goes down a lot.

The difference is Kafka is 35 and spent 5 years with 1 team. Kafka was drafted by Reid and played QB for Andy for 3 years. Andy must have been impressed with Kafka, thought he was really smart so Andy hired him as coach where rose up the ranks rather quickly.
Speaking of coach Reid and his assistants, what's your thoughts on why his current OC Eric Bieniemy is unable to land a HC job of his own ?

This yr isn't the yr for the fresh young new start at QB. Next yr is though.

This is very fair and I'm in total agreement.

Sherman Lewis 2.0, Bruce Arians 2.0. Sad to see imo, thats how the NFL. See recently Leftwich
Speaking of Leftwich, I sure wish the Jags would've hired him.

Only Leftwich could finish under .500 with the GOAT at QB.

Lewis got a raw deal.

I never figured out why Tomlin fired Arians.

He didn't fire Arians, the Rooneys wanted more of a running game and his contract was up. In terms of Leftwich, he was good enough to call plays during their superbowl run in which the GOAT threw 3 picks, but the defense gave up fgs and or no points, but now he's a bum?

My point stands.

Only Leftwich can hold down the GOAT.

Well maybe Giselle and Sam Bankman Fried.

Teams can do much worse than poaching the Andy Reid coaching tree. I am team Kafka!

I have heard EB interviews terribly. No specifics though. They just say "bad interviews" If EB wants a HC job he really needs to leave KC and Reid and prove he can do it somewhere else, as an OC without Reid, like Kafka did. It makes me think people don't know if it is EB or Reid leading to the success of the offense.

Nagy didn't leave. Kafka left and went under Daboll who fixed Allen. Daniel Jones is still average, but now all off sudden he fixed Jones and is a hot candidate.

He has some personal history that teams do not want to deal with.
So they say. If teams didn't want to hire him, why interview him at all when he's the oc in KC? Again, we've seen this story before with Sherman Lewis, Bruce Arians, and now EB.

And Nagy wasn't very good. That kind of proves my point that EB needs to separate himself from Reid

Sometimes I wonder if you're just trolling....and then I see a post like this and I no longer wonder.
Unfortunately It's true,

go back and checkout CnD's posts and you will see an article that spells it out why EB will never become a HC.
