New Mock Draft Has Texans Choosing Will Levis @ #1

If the NYJ are going to move on from Wilson would you give up 3-65 for him?
Wilson was a nobody before the draft, then after the videos, he turned into the Mormon Mahomes. There were people on this board tooting his horn too despite him not being able to just make basic plays. That's one thing I really like about Young and Stroud, they make the basic plays look simple as well as making the playmaking plays.

That and leadership. Teammates gravitate towards both.

I started doubting Wilson when the video of the place he was staying while working out, was certainly not what a QB that is going to be the face of a franchise should look like. IMHO.

With this said the talent is still there. If I had to guess he's the next Rosen.. I really liked Rosen and Rosen/Wilson will both fail for one reason and one reason only, a sense of entitlement.

At least Rosen was more of a known quantity in terms of college production. Wilson was Jonnie come lately with a smile from BYU. Everyone in the nfl has a degree of talent.

Someone will take a shot, they always do
I should be excited about this draft, with the Texans probably taking #1 or #2. But for some reason I'm just not. I can't shake this feeling we're going to pick the wrong player again high, and that this organization will be stuck on stupid for the next 2-3 years with Bryce Young leading the offense, as a 'mid'. Hope this feeling is wrong.

I know how you feel. I know the organization as it stands is stuck on stupid. And will take Will Levis #2 overall.

Football World Shocked By Mel Kiper's Quarterback Rankings
Will Levis #1

The most realistic thing from that link:
These rankings can and will change before the 2023 NFL Draft in April. We'll just have to see how much they change.

My big takeaway is that there is no consensus #1 QB, despite what the media wants you to believe. That's unfortunate, with the Texans in position this year. I don't have a good feeling about it all, especially after Caesrio's bad Day1 selections last year.

Just give Caserio’s RD1 picks from this season, the season they’ve played…..next season they should bear fruit.

Was Caserio supposed to know those guys were going to get hurt?

They are talented.

This GM stuff is easy.
This is what I would do to help Lovie run his antiquated cover two and Pep run his hodgepodge unimaginative offense.
Took the Detroit and one other trade. Don't like either of the touted QB's. I'd keep what we have over either of them.
#7 and #11 -Yes I did, we need to upgrade our linebackers. Sure steelb won't like my #11 pick. :D
All things being equal I favored speed/size.

We'll see. I think Stingley will be fine. Green is a very unideal situation, being one of the league's worst guards this year. So whether he can become league average or respectable is a crapshoot. Caserio did not do well here. Some good picks were bypassed which we know are above average players with PB potential.

I'm not going to post alot on this because I agree to an extent with you, but based on Stingley's last 2 years, he was not worthy of that selection. I think Green will be fine even if I thought that was a little rich for a guard with limitations. D. Brown is the comp with the exception that Brown was a super duper athlete that just needed seasoning. Green will be fine as long as he's developed, but when you select a guard that high, you expect high probowler/all pro. We will see.

You're ignoring his play before he was injured and judging him on play he was injured. Before he was injured he was one of the top in the league
Ok, great. I'm talking about the totality of his play. I just discount the injury less than most because he was deemed fit to play on Sunday, even if he wasn't 100%.Hopefully he will be better and stronger next year and it'll be all good. Just saying conserding the totality of play, I think there was a better pick to be had. Whatever though - let's see what happens next year. I'm sure he'll be a lot better.

Precisely me view. At #15 overall for an interior guar, he should be upper quartile at his position right away in the NFL, not league worst. Injury is a mitigating circumstance 100%, but I feel people are willing to attribute his poor play to injury, which I don't think is true either.

I think it's a couple years too early to judge

Just looking at some player clips tonight and cruising YT for mock stuff. This stands out to me, hence the share. Apparently, C.J. Stroud is ranked #133 in FBS throwing under pressure. (38 out of 100 grade; adjusted completion % of just 46%!). Needless to say, I didn't expect this when talking about a potential #1 overall pick QB. Certainly wouldn't yield good results under a Texans line prone to yielding pressure, as currently constructed. Thoughts?

I also recall a comment that a lot of his stats were produced against poor quality opponents. So I googled and Ohio State only played against 3 ranked opponents. He's going against Georgia in the Peach Bowl on Sat, 31st.

I'm really interested to see how Stetson Bennett performs against OSU

When doing a mock I don't necessarily draft players but positions I think we need.
I draft the highest rated player, but it's up to the scouts to find the right player for what we need.
I did draft a couple of rated edge rushers.:D
I don't watch film. With this antiquated computer I'm lucky to just get online. Video's freeze up. :brickwall:
I'm at the mercy of the draft sites scouting reports. I don't know if either of the LB's can rush the passer.
Any suggestions who could?

Kyler Murray has entered the chat.

Baker Mayfield says “what about me?”

Jameis Winston: Don't hate the playa...you want some crab legs tho?

View attachment 11328

In the year that Murray and Mayfield was drafted the 2nd pick was the better pick. Bosa and Barkley. In the year Winston was drafted - well - that was a rough year.

I see some similarities between the Cardinals and the Texans. Do you pick an undersized QB because of the perceived “need” or pick another player and wait until the following year to go for QB?

If Arizona had waited they would have been able to have a chance at drafting Burrow, Herbert, Tua, or Jordan Love.

Just saying…
