I’m not sure there is a sure fire day one starting Center in this draft. Long way from having Linderbaum sitting right there to help your QB. There might be another option however, 2nd rd. O’Cyrus Torrence. Only thing, he’s never played Center. Natural knee bender, elite traits and could kick inside if he does well testing. Reminds me of Landon Dickerson, who played some Center @ Alabama now starting LG for the Eagles. Regardless position, he would fortify the OL.
I really don’t care what anyone says. Quessenberry is doing well as our starting Center. Green is fine as a starting LG. Aj Cann is doing the work of a starting RG, I understand he’s not getting any younger.

I think we have a starting OL, need to improve the depth.

I felt good about Morrisey replacing Britt at Center one day, but Q has been much better, imo, than Morrisey or/and Britt. I would not have a problem if they were to draft a Center in the upcoming draft that would replace Quessenberry. I’m not married to the idea that he be my starting Center.

But rounds 1-3 need to be about skill positions & QB pressure.

1-4 really.

Davis Mills, Bryce Young, Cj Stroud, whoever, is going to need better targets than we currently have on the roster.

I don’t even know who our #1 WR is. Cooks… don’t trust him & really hope he isn’t on this team next season. I like Nico, but not as a #1.

Aikens? You’d think the Texans could make something out of that, but no one else seems to want to bother.

& we should be able to be able to find a better RB than Ogunbowale (who I really like but hasn’t done squat), Freeman, & Burkhead in the 4th/5th

skill position & QB pressure. That’s where I’m at for the upcoming draft/FA

You really think Q has even been avg? Center is as big a need as any. Good news is in this draft a long term starter can be found in the late 2nd/Early 3rd.

Also the DL needs to be fixed. If Johnston is there in the 3rd it would be very hard for me to pass on him.

Johnston?

My wifes 19-year old grand son who played in the offensive line in H.S. said that IHO Charles Cross would be the best OT prospect in the 2022 NFL Draft and he might have been right ?
His latest thoughts about the Texans & the Draft is that thy should pass on the QBs in the 2023 Draft and draft Jalen Carter with their top pick. Oh BTW he's not really a Texans fan as the team he is most sentimental about is the Saints so guess he offers a somewhat objective opinion.

I made the comment because you said
My mistake,

I don't expect Johnson to make it out of the top 20.

If I picked Carter 1-1, it would be really hard for me not to pick Tyree Wilson at 10 and use Cooks plus #32 to try to move back into the 1st if Johnston or Smith Njigba fell to say #20.

3 star level players IMHO, I also like Verse a lot too.

Like I said, I’d so much rather skill positions early in the draft, through the 4th

& I’d rather invest in a Stud OG in FA than Center.
The C/OG FA class is weak this yr.

The center is the leader of the OL and makes the line calls. Give me a vet doing that and draft a college center that has played og.

If Caserio pays anybody big money in FA I hope it's Bradbury.

Texans keep bringing in TEs who disappear. If one happens to catch a pass or two we don't see him again. I'd rather draft an OT who has some receiving skills at least hold on when ball hits him in the gut, that can back up one of our tackles.

Taking a QB in the first round no longer hamstrings a franchise if they don't hit.
If you don't have a QB, you try to get one.

I know Nico Collins is on the roster, but I think he's the only WR who is taller than 6'1 if I'm not mistaken. A big bodied WR to give the new QB a nice target would be helpful. Quentin Johnson would be my personal target, but I don't think he makes it to the Texans second pick in the 1st round to be honest. There aren't many WR's like that in this draft either. AT Perry out of Wake Forest is intriguing in that mold a little later on.

Definitely need o-line depth if nothing else. With Tunsil wanting to "reset the tackle market", will he be around much longer either? I honestly don't know about that. I just read the report. Either way, there are some interesting players that could help. When you have 2 players backing up 4 spots on the o-line, some depth help sounds more than reasonable.

If people don't like the current crop of TE's on the roster, there are some in this draft that could help. I personally like the kid out of Utah, Dalton Kincaid. There are others that are intriguing as well though.

Do you all like your current group of linebackers? I know headed into the season they weren't highly thought of, but can't say how they've performed through the season. I really like my dude Tommy Eichenberg out of Ohio State and Jack Campbell out of Iowa, which neither will go in the first round.

I see a lot of my Bengals prior to Burrow arriving in the Texans.
We couldn't fill all the holes we had fast enough and then had luck shine on us as well.
