Texans random thought of the day

What?

You don't think a team that needs a pass rusher or a wr wouldn't be willing to trade for Hughes or Cooks?

As far as the rest of your post goes you must just enjoy being an A-Hole or you woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
Thats only a 1 1/2 years after I called for trading Cooks for a 2nd Rd. Whats his draft value today? A 3rd or 4th? Cooks must be a Tim Kelly kind of guy?

Contract complicates potential Brandin Cooks trade

The Texans reportedly are getting calls about receiver Brandin Cooks. That doesn’t mean they’re getting any significant offers.
As one league source explains it, teams won’t touch the current Cooks contract because it carries a fully-guaranteed contract of $18 million in 2023. This means the Texans may have to assume some of the financial obligation in order to get someone to take Cooks off the books — and to give the Texans value for the player.

Five years ago, the Texans blazed a new trail by giving the Browns a second-round pick in order to get them to assume the $16 million guaranteed salary of quarterback Brock Osweiler. It’s now common for teams to pay a portion of a player’s salary in order to facilitate a trade.

A first-round pick in 2014, Cooks has been traded three prior times, from the Saints to the Patriots to the Rams to the Texans.
In six games this season, Cooks has 28 catches for 281 yards and one touchdown. He’s questionable for Sunday’s game against the Titans, with a wrist injury.

I guess he hurt his wrist while working out when he suppose to be speaking to the media.

Something tells me we are going to trade him for a 2nd round draft pick and eat his salary for the season.
It’s next season’s salary that worries me, who’s going to want to pay the $18million guaranteed? Texans are going to have to eat it, for a 2nd rounder and last day pick i can understand it, they don’t look $18 million away from competing next season to me so maybe those draft picks help build towards it.

We'll be 1-5-1 after today with the following games left;

Eagles - loss
Giants - loss
Washington - questionable
Dolphins - loss
Browns - questionable
Cowboys - loss
Chiefs - loss
Titans - loss
Jaggies - maybe just our 2nd win of the season LOL
Colts - questionable

Washington and Jags are both winnable. Though i’d favor them both. Maybe Texans favored over Jags due to past history or make it a pickem. Browns i’d say no. Not because of WD40 but because of Chubb/Hunt.

The #1 pick is on the table. At least the Lions have exciting games they lose sometimes. This Texans team is boring and bad. Not a good product.

Yep Nick I must restructure it Caserio pretty much crapped all over a possible trade for Cooks after restructuring Cooks contract not once but twice.

We will see on Tuesday.

Rumors have it that Cooks will be on the move.

Watching the Titans run through the Texans defense like a hot knife through butter. Random thought. The AFC South is known for having strong running games. Being able to stop the run is mandatory in this division. So, how in the heck did the Texans allow the talent on the interior of their DL and/or LBs get in such a pathetic state that they cannot even slow down an opposing AFC South running game?

By bringing in a bunch of special teams players and making them defensive starters.

OK...we saw today that the Texans Interior OLine is trash. It'll be expensive, but can we possibly sign Indy OG Quenton Nelson and Saints C Erik McCoy as free agents next year? Maybe even a backup plan with Denver OG Dalton Risner. McCray needs to not be on the team next season, and Cann needs to be not more than a backup if he stays. Quessenberry isn't a starter. He's a backup at best.

We absolutely need to upgrade the DL and LBs. Whether that happens in the draft or from free agency is yet to be seen.

Most of us knew this was not going to be a good year and hoped realisticly for some progress as we rebuilt this team. AJ and Quessenberry were both out not that it would have mattered and green looked like the rookie he is against Simmons. No shock there. I have not read every Post in this thread but have not read anyone dog Titus Howard. How do you think he performed as I cannot remember any horrible plays that resulted in Davis Mills being touched.

Nelson and Pierce better than I expected and the crappy linebacker play was exactly as I expected preseason. We also keep bringing in tight ends and have little significant productivity.

Roster needs a lot of work but all of us knew it was going to be that way before game one.

Tell OB thanks for the memories

The scary thing with yesterdays game was that the opponent clearly had no intention of passing, the Texans did not even have to honour the pass game, yet they weren’t able to stop the run at all. There was one point where it felt like 1st down resulting in 2nd&1 was a mini victory.

It goes beyond talent, both co-ordinators need replacing.

Because Nick Caserio is good.

Some folks here even think that I'm a hater when I said Nick is mediocre.

When it's all said and done, I think that NC will be below mediocre.

Steelbtexan keeps telling me that NC has been doing a good job.
I just don't see it.

Everybody should be reminding you that this is Caserio’s first GM job. Second, what did you expect based on the absolute shite show this organization was left in by OB?

Caserio has been digging out of this since his arrival while trying to field a somewhat respectable team. It wasn’t going to be easy.

I had high hopes for this Lovie Smith plus his staff and they’ve done their best to completely destroy that faith. Their systems have regressed the Texans versus building off the final 5 games of last season. I believe the players may be the next group to quit on these coaches.

That’s fine, but the shit show he took over isn’t much worse than the shit show he has now.

He brought in the QB. He brought in all those career special teams players and made them starters. He brought in the RB room he has, WRs, LBs, DL, OL, TEs. There’s only 9 players on this team from the 2020 roster and 2 of those are the K and LS.

So yeah, he took over shit, but he hasn’t replaced it with much.

Agree, but he hasn't had a full book of resources either - yes he had extra picks last draft, but no cash to make those big splashy FA signings.
This next off-season will finally give us a full picture.

Is this the part of the year we give up on the season and argue the same thing over and over again in different ways? And then people start labeling people in groups?

Asking for a friend.

Yes.

What group would you like to be in? I want to know, as that way I won't unknowingly insult you. :)

Personally, I'm completely out of rats asses to give, so I just pick random posts to argue with.

If any team's QB throws more than 20 passes against the Texans their coach should be immediately fired.

You have the freedom to insult me. The internet doesn’t hurt me like it does other people.

Also, we don’t get to pick our groups. And if I am a betting man, then I would say we are in the same group. Cause I don’t give a rats ass either.

So, no change then.

What do you mean no change? There's tons of changes. There's new UFOs in the parking lot every day to talk to. Aliens look to the Texans as a perfect example of how not to run an organization. If the Texans ran the galaxy, there'd be no aliens. Or, if there were, their spaceships would all be broke.
