Texans Player Transaction DISCUSSION Thread

Pharoah being cut makes me wonder if the Texans have been working out other TE's. Is he being cut with an injury settlement, and the possibility of going on the practice squad after he clears waivers? It's interesting that we haven't heard about any other TE's coming in.

Maybe they think the young TE they drafted is ready for a bigger role.

Pharoah cannot block without hugging and holding, think they have enough pass catchers, none elite anyway. We need serious upgrade at TE anyway so whatever JAG they keep now, whatever

So now we're down to signing TV game show hosts. The end is near.
A revamped Newlywed Game has got to be more entertaining than Texans football. Am I right? Hell, bring back the Gong Show for that matter.

I’m assuming Brown got cut because Quitoriano is coming off IR? The team knew what they had in Brown (not good enough) and want to give his reps to Howard and the rookie.

OL KC McDermott is backup at best. (Ex Miami 2018)
Jacksonville released him after a injury riddled career (only 1 start from 16 games) then Giants just recently released him.

He has 22 career receptions for 414 yards and three touchdowns. He has run a 40 in 4.36 seconds.
Possibly preparing for either a Cooks trade or a Nico Collins IR designation? I think he fills more of the Cooks role. I'd like to see the Texans bring in WR Charleston Rambo, and see if he can develop. He played for Miami, but he's a Texas boy.

Looks like he’s a Tyler Johnson replacement. Had high hopes for that one… but couldn’t make it into the lineup.

Hopefully Jeleel Johnson can help clog the running lanes better than what has been going on so far this season.

Is bad play worth it? Not mediocre but horrible. Doesn't the mentoring and leadership go out the window? Do you want your young led by that?

No argument from me. No. Yes. No.

@steelbtexan is on record that he values veterans to help the young guys. I posed a half serious/joke question after reading he wants to move on from a veteran that he wanted on the roster for the young players.

There are no young guys in the wr room anymore. Plus Mills has enough experience now and Collins is slowly becoming his wr1, it's time to move on from Mills but I wouldn't give him away. A third is the least I would take for Cooks.

I know you did and last year it was a good idea because they actually provided a little, but KGH was missing in action all this year and Kirksey doesn't even provide the little of tackling and run defense that he did last year. I also think that some veteran leadership is needed, but those two ain't it if they ever were

Will the remainder of KGH's contract come off the cap and move to dead money freeing up another Million or so cap space?

edit: According to Over the cap, 1.5M goes to dead money and the rest cap savings?

Would you send Cooks to the Jets….straight up for Denzel Mims? Jets had another injury to their receiving group, another WR who wants out, and Mims who they just dressed for the first time this season, last week. No draft picks would be used to finally have a nice outside threat with speed to burn.

Cooks is a better player than Mims. He will continue to be a better player than Mims in the time it takes to find his replacement for someone who (more than likely) are a better player than Mims.

No but I would trade Cooks and a 4th for Mims and a 3rd. But I doubt the Jets would do this deal. They appear to like Mims a lot. I do think a deal like this with the Packers and Watson is doable. Would you do this deal?

Like your twist……I’d execute the trade tomorrow if we were pulling the strings.

NBC Edge reports that Ronald Jones, RB picked up by KC on a 1-year $1.5M contract for 2022, has asked for his release. He isn't getting PT is that offense which is probably just a depth chart thing. If Caesario is looking for a viable RB2, who can legitimate both run and catch with a 4.5 career YPC, why not work something out and bring him here? Jones is still only 25 years out and can probably do a good job reducing the load on Pierce.

Jones would have run for 1000 yards in 2020 had he not missed 2 games and had a 5.1 YPC.
