Who should Caserio target as the next HC?

You don’t know it and I’m not claiming that I do. But man stop spewing crap hoping it stick to the wall. No way in heck they’re bugging any of their players rooms.

Was anything in my post incorrect?

If so what? I'm not saying Easterby did this, I'm saying he came from a place where there's a history of doing this and Hopkins did complain about a PI following him around.

Sean Payton isn't going to be the Texans next HC.

LMAO
Have faith!

A quick internet search shows that there are AT LEAST 3 people on earth with my first and last name.

Surely the Texans can find A Sean Payton.... pay him an insane amount of money.... only to realize aftrr the comtract signing it is a 74 year old British guy that the closest experience to coaching football is screamimg at his TV while watching the soccer match.

I believe.

It's a reverse Ted Lasso!

Pioli also claims responsibility. It is probable that he was recommended by both. And yes it was for the Hernandez thing.

The point I was trying to make was he was at the Chiefs with Pioli, while briefly, where there was a bunch of concerns of spying by even regular employees.

In the article a familiar name pops up as trying to help fill the void of Easterby’s departure. None other than our favorite RB Rex Burkhead. Things that make you go “hmmmm…”

From the article:

“The team didn’t make a hire to replace Easterby. That’s why a group of veterans banded together to tackle the challenge for themselves. Led by Slater, players like the McCourty twins, Rex Burkhead, Duron Harmon, David Andrews, Ben Watson and Stephen Gostkowski have divvied up responsibilities to help replace the team’s character coach.”
Did n't they bring in Esterby after that lb killed himself? I think Romeo was their also.

This board is unreal. Lovie has only coached 5 games so far. We've been in every game & the closest we've been to getting blown out was the Chargers game & only lost by 10 points, all while installing a completely new offensive system. We're in the middle of a complete rebuild & so many of you act like we should be competing for the Superbowl. I agree with the earlier post that said Lovie will be back for at least one more year. With the success Caserio has had in the draft & the upcoming cap space, they should be able to add some more quality players to take this team to the next level. Unless I'm mistaken, Lovie is the first head coach we've had with prior head coaching experience & some of y'all want to dump him already? WOW!!!

Having said all that & in keeping with the theme of this thread, I can't believe no one has mentioned Mike Tomlin as a potential candidate. The Steelers are struggling now & I've heard some die-hard fans calling for him to be replaced. So, he could be available in the next year or two. And, in spite of what was said in the emails, I'd even entertain the idea of bringing in Gruden (The McNair's wouldn't, but I would).

But, let's give Lovie a chance to build something here before we boot him out the door.

Haven't heard of a knock.

I don't recall his name being tossed around last year during all the coaching changes.

I don't hang around social media sites very often so it is possible I just wasn't paying attention.

TT is pretty much the only site that I visit. Just about fills my quota of declining, available, free brain cells.

I don't remember Callahan getting interviews, either. Something that can work against a Super Bowl assistant is the amount of time lost before the coach can fully commit to his new team. If a team really wants a guy, it won't matter. If it's close between 2 coaches, and one is immediately available, that's a big advantage.

His prior head coaching experience is not what got Lovie hired.

Sadly, you are probably correct that he will be back.:rake:

Callahan interviewed for the Broncos job last year & if I recall correctly, he decided to not do any more interviews while the Bengals were in the playoffs, which almost paid off with a Superbowl victory. But like you said, he wasn't immediately available & the teams hired those that were. I suspect he's going to get some serious attention this off season. He's the guy I was hoping the Texans would hire. But, I'm still cool with seeing what Lovie can do first.

I don’t know why people can’t realize that and think this is someone that Caserio had picked from a list of candidates that wanted to coach here like it was some sort of hit destination that people were fighting over to get here.

Just signed a huge extension is one reason why.

Ok, off the reservation, throw all analytics out the window (not going to find one who is available) who I would like to see, coming into a good situation with young players last year and upcoming 2023 Draft Class -

J.J. Watt

Why wouldn't it be? If you solve that, then you have your anser

Why wouldn’t this place be a hot destination?

Culley was named HC when Houston didn’t have first round drafts picks and the controversy of Deshaun Watson. 20+ sexual assault allegations, no picks and uncertainty around if the franchise will be penalized. No talent on team.

Lovie was named HC prior to the trade of Watson. Still the controversy of Watson, and a normal amount of picks. No talent on team.

You’re right. If people can’t realize that this isn’t a prime spot to attract coaches then I should know those people haven’t been paying attention.

Picture it, return of JJ Watt as Head Coach. Know it would never happen, but just imagine:swatter:
He's never been a coach at any level and you want him to be the HC of the Texans?!?
Hell, he bailed on us once, not sure I'd want him back. And if you say he wanted a shot at a ring, I call BS. I can think of several destinations way better
than Arizona if you want a shot at a ring.

I recently quit a job because of management - it's more common than you think.

The Texans wanted to bail on Watt’s contract as much or more than Watt wanted out. A mutual decision.

But no, Watt is not ready to be a NFL head coach, or a DC for that matter. And I don’t see coaching in JJ’s future.

Start by getting rid of Caserio and clean house completely. Even if he doesn’t deserve all the blame, he hasn’t shown great promise, excelled in any fashion or done anything exceptionally well.

What don't you like about what he's done? He's had 1 full draft and after 5 games it's much too early to judge that? He was handicapped with the mess OB and Easterby left. You don't think the haul he got for Watson under those circumstances was exceptionally well done?

You must be part of the instant gratification crowd and expect a SB every year

Agreed, it felt like he was trying to set up a hollywood career, but dude is so stiff, I don't see it happening.

Watt will likely do something in Hollywood.

I would like to see Demeco Ryans get a shot.

We need to hire an elite OC or proven offensive minded HC like Sean Payton or Kyle Shanahan (if he is fired) the year we decide to draft our 1st round franchise QB. 2024 QB depth will be stacked. Drafting Ewers from UT and a guy like that year’s version of Daboll or the guy the Vikings hired would be ideal. I want a guy on the offensive side of the ball that helps Caserio choose our franchise QB in the draft that fits his system. Offensive coaches are more successful in this day and age in my opinion. Guys like Arthur Smith in Atlanta are overachieving while Eberflus in Chicago is clearly the wrong choice to go with Justin Fields who is quickly entering draft bust territory. They needed to get an offensive coach.

TRUE. Texans were in salary cap hell and Watt gave them $17 million in immediate relief. It didn't get them out of cap hell but it let them see the light at the end of the tunnel.
