But just like JjWatt didn’t want to be here, playing for nothing, I can understand Tunsil not wanting to be here & feeling trapped.
I don’t see that bothering Tunsil at all. Two years in a row Tunsil has renegotiated his contract to make him virtually untradable. Not the actions of a guy who wants out.

Prior to the renegotiation, there was a lot of noise regarding the Texans dealing Tunsil. I think the Texans would have dealt Tunsil, but the market wasn’t there after he missed 2/3 of the season. If Tunsil has a decent 2022, I see him dealt next offseason when he takes up over 15% of the Texans cap.

Or maybe this was just the media making stuff up. We don't know how much the cap is going to rise with the new TV deal

The best decision in my opinion that Warhop has made is to let the offensive line played at their best position and not musical chairs.
We really don’t know anything about positions from OTAs & mini camp. We’ll see who Warhop really is in training camp & preseason.

Even then, responding to injury after the season starts is when we’ll really find out.

Any thoughts on possible WR's to bring in to replace Metchie? I've heard a few names kicked around. I've heard about TY Hilton, Cole Beasley, and even bringing back Danny Amendola. What about Braxton Berrios? I don't know much about him, but he's still fairly young. When I googled WR FA's he's listed as one of the top slot options.

I’m sure they will bring in a few guys to work out. But that group is deep right now. I think they were prepared for him to miss at least half the season.

I like him too. Unfortunately, he got hurt last season before he could really show what he can do. We'll have to see how he can do this season. I agree about Beasley. I would either bring him in, or Braxton Berrios. I think Berrios is a very similar player to Amendola and Beasley, but younger.
Berrios would have been a good signing. But he re-signed with the Jets on a very reasonable 2 year $12 million deal.

CB Issac Yiadom wants to be building block in Texans' rebuilding process
August 6, 2022 11:06 am CT

One sit down with coach Lovie Smith and fifth-year NFL cornerback Issac Yiadom knew he wanted to be a part of the Houston Texans.

Even though Houston is in a rebuilding mode coming off back-to-back four-win seasons, Yiadom knew that the Texans had a leader in Smith.

“I was a big fan of his and a big fan of his defense,” said Yiadom about Lovie Smith, who also serves as defensive coordinator for the Texans. “The way he coaches guys and his message to me. I felt like he was going to coach me and give me a chance to be the best player I could be here. The connection I felt with Lovie, I felt was real right away.”

The Denver Broncos selected Yiadom in the third round (99th overall) of the 2018 NFL draft. After two years with the Broncos, the former Boston College standout was traded to the New York Giants, and one year later, he was moved to the Green Bay Packers.

Now that he is in Houston, Yiadom is looking for a fresh start and consistent playing time on the defensive side of the ball. He has caught the eye of his defensive coordinator throughout the first six practices by playing well in pass coverage and his ability to help in the run game.

“He played some good football at Green Bay last year, so we got a chance to see him play,” coach Lovie Smith said. “But as a cornerback, you notice his size. He’s going to be a special teams contributor for us, but long, he’s physical, shows up every day, good pickup. We have plans for him.”

As an unrestricted free agent, Yiadom was aware that he had choices on his playing destination in 2022 but also knew that he would have to take his offseason training to another level. He spent numerous hours honing his craft down in Florida. He applied his knowledge of going against a four-time NFL MVP in Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers every day in practice to prepare to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster.

“Last year I had the gift of playing against Aaron Rodgers and he did some things in practice that only got us better at corners,” Yiadom said. “That was a great opportunity.”

Yiadom has appeared in 61 career games with 20 starts, recording 107 tackles (76 solo), one interception, one forced fumble, and 12 passes defended.

This is the reason I don’t stress out about using 5th-7th round picks as parts of trades.

This guy with this kind of career is what most 6th rounders are going to be. So we get him in year 4 or year 5, after he’s worked out all the small stuff.

If we could find three Roy Lopezes every year in the 5th-7th rounds I’d be against using them as currency. But that’s not the norm.

I don't know if anyone caught radio 610 this morning where Lopez and his sidekick were arguing what a sprain, a strain, and a tear was. For the most part, both got it wrong. It's quite entertaining, as a surgeon, to listen to 2 people that don't know what they are talking about when it comes to injuries............talk about injuries. 1659999620381.png

I find those 2 rarely know what they are talking about in most cases.

You'd never guess he was on his 3rd NFL team now from his draft profile

Overview
Big, fast and athletic, Shaheen will immediately interest teams who are looking for size and traits. He's a poorer blocker than what might be expected for a player with his frame, but he's also a much more dangerous pass catching target. The jump in competition will be substantial and teams will expect him to become a more consistent blocker, but he's a pass catching tight end in a Y-tight end's body. Shaheen has starting potential with an ability to impact a passing game early in his career.

He seemed to have been used sparingly at all of his stops. I believe that the Dolphins carried 4 TEs that could partly explain this. Last year, he was also dogged by an MCL injury that he suffered in November. A fresh start, a new scheme, a new coaching staff, could make the low risk trade a positive.

He also missed the first 9 games of 2018 on IR with an ankle sprain/foot injury. And was on IR the last 4 games of 2019. Don't know why... he's a low risk gamble for sure

His wikipedia said he put on 70 pounds in college. Wonder if that fast weight gain put too much pressure on his body and has caused him to be injury prone in the NFL?

Low risk gamble at a position that needed a talented body or three.

On the surface, it would seem worrisome.

Sheehan went on IR for a freak Grade II rolled ankle sprain. His 2nd opinion basically minimized his foot sprain as a problem. He would have only missed 3 games at the beginning of the season, but the team was in immediate desperate need of decent receivers and chose to place him on IR and replace him with a new receiver. In those days, of course, there were long mandatory IRs before a player could be replaced.

His 2019 end of season injury occurred when he took a direct helmet hit in his chest while making a TD.

He has had not problems with either his foot/ankle or his chest since comming back from those injuries.

The Grade II MCL he suffered last season should not be a long term problem.

Of course, "past performance does not predict..............." :D
