When the two grand juries no billed was it not claimed to be bribery for lack of a better word? So I guess Robinson was also bribed?

Thinking back over this entire thread concerning Watson what seems to stick out most to me is the "if you don't think like I do you must be morally corrupt" point of view of several posters.

in case you didnt pick up on it, that was sarcasm. Reality is, the NFL doesnt care about anyone, man or woman.

What’s going to happen next is Goodell and the NFL will appeal for a longer 1 year suspension…but it’ll be purely for optics…they will fail but score a moral victory by getting maybe 1 or 2 more to make it 7-8 games…

I understand this,

People make their own choices in life and yes the NFL doesn't care about their customers. Why? Gambling which now is going to change for the worse since the NFL has gotten in bed with the gamblers. What could possibly go wrong? The second reason is FF.

It's still precedent. Doesn't matter who laid down the punishment, the inference here is as clear as day.

On matters involving women, the NFL (and related entities) looks the other way with a wink wink and a nudge nudge. After all, boys will be boys right?

Are you missing the part where the NFL is within their rights to appeal? AND change the suspension to one year?
 
I’m not quite sure how folks keep saying “well, if Goodell changes the suspension to a year, Watson will sue and the NFL’s dirty laundry will come out”. Robinson STILL found him to violate the personal conduct policy regardless of the owners.
 
I think this new process is somehow even worse then the old process. SR isn't taking sexual assault seriously, and then if the NFL dares to take it seriously, they get sued? Seriously?

The NFLPA will sue. It's not just one player, it will be an entirely different case. The charge will be that the league violated the CBA, by not holding the owners to the same level of punishment as the players.

I think we've been over this before.

Are the owners bound by the CBA? Btw, the owners actions happened prior to this current version of the CBA. It won’t work what you are implying. So how could a CBA be violated for actions prior to the current CBA? Interesting question.

Nope, this is going to come down to whether God'ell was lying when he said he wanted a year. Of course God'ell is a known liar, so who knows what is going to happen.

As a Texan fan I said he should be severely punished because he's a known sexual predator and that's when he was with the Texans. My thoughts haven't changed now that he's with the Browns.

Judge Robinson can only use the facts layed before her. If the league brough a poor case, that's on them. And the NFL is in this pickle exactly because the league has yet to take seriously the claims against ownership.

This is bigger than the Watson case. If the NFL loses to the NFLPA on the grounds they have violated the PCP, that agreement could be thrown out. Not to mention what the NFLPA may find out in discovery. No, Goodell is best to take his medicine here.

If not this post is invalid. The case was good enough to get to Godell's desk and that's all that the case needed to be good enough to do for God'ell to meet out whatever punishment he sees fit. But seeing how the NFL only had 4 victims testify you're probably right in that God'ell will go along with Robinson and her judgement. The fix is in because God'ell didn't really want Derrick to be punished severely to begin with and he can hide behind Robinson. God'ell will probably give Derrick 8 games to say he's being tougher on Derrick than Robinson wanted, but this is all a bunch of typical God'ell BS.

I'm hoping Derick gets the karma he deserves for taking advantage of the poor, this season. AC, broken FN neck doesn't really matter to me. POS.

Everybody got their day in court. The Texas GJ surmised that Buzbee didn’t present enough evidence to go forward. Hardin and Watson pushed for and got settlements paid out to each of the women. How much….not sure we’ll ever know, but it was obviously enough to send everyone home. Robinson was given the case and based on evidence, not accusations, decided a 6 game suspension would suffice. I’m sure Watson and Goodell have spoken and came to an agreement on what both parties would consider acceptable punishment and Robinson’s punishment fell within the guidelines. Watson will sit 6 games, which should benefit the Texans in the 2023 NFL Draft. I don’t think Goodell would appeal b/c he’s probably as relieved as the next person in line that this nightmare has finally come to an end. The start of the season will put this mess in the rear view mirror.

Again, setting aside emotion, since any reaction I would have would solely be based on 3rd party information. I don’t think any of the women refused the settlement and chose to pursue a criminal case. If they have chosen to turn the page, then I will as well.

Figured this was going to happen soon as I saw 20 of the cases were settled, think an additional 3 have been settled now as well. Everyone talking about NFL looking to appeal and justice not being found are forgetting one thing.

ALL PARTIES INVOLVED IN THIS ARE HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS!!!!

Watson is happy because 6 games is nothing and his contract is such that it doesn't hurt him at all. Hell 6 games might not even hurt their playoff chances to much if they win a few of them.

Browns are happy because they got the QB they wanted and he got a slap on the wrist.

Texans are happy because they got their three 1st round picks and pulled off the biggest trade in 30 years WHILE the player had a NTC and legal trouble they had to work around.

Buzbee and his clients are happy because they got a settlement, think only 1 is left, which was Buzzbee's goal from day one. He never cared if Watson went to jail or never played again, that wasn't his job. His job was to get his clients the most money possible and, while we'll never know the amount, I'm guessing it was a pretty good chunk of change.

Finally the NFL is happy because they have coverage for the weak slap on the wrist because it was a third party, a woman judge at that, that handed it down and they can say "We pushed for more but we respect the decision of the judge." and get back to swimming in their money.

Meanwhile for the fans well winning fixes everything and if Watson starts winning then all will be forgiven.

And you think Watson cares about that ? Why? $230 m + hot girlfriend that doesn't criticise; a new team and ownership that thinks he is going to be their savior. Pffft!
