Texans random thought of the day

No way….Texans can keep their picks and target a top tier WR1 in the draft.
Samuel is a proven, slashing game changer. If he costs us #13, I am fine with it.
He will immediately help our Oline, upgrade our running game and our receiver corp in one fell swoop.
That's too tempting in my book.

For the longest time I thought Schaub was the only QB who could sack himself into a fetal position b/c a gust of wind hit him during a defensive rush……that is, until I saw Savage get dragged off the field, concussed, after a glancing blow to his left shoulder pad.
I hardly believe what I am reading in this post about Savage. Savage hit the back of his head on the ground when he was tackled. You don't get a brainstem injury manifesting in the "fencing response" from a love tap.

I like the quiet confidence Mills has.. Sounds highly mature, intelligent, and extremely professional (No nonsense) too. He gives off a vibe like he already knows he's going to kick ass this season and everyone else just doesn't know.. I like it. Definitely sounds like a starter, I'm glad he's getting his chance to prove it.

Side note: Why do the Texans post these Q&As when all you can hear is the damn As.. Can we please get some freaking mics on the press floor? Doesn't make a lick of sense.

Mills said it was a lot like what he ran in college. David Shaw offense at Stanford is the WCO which is fine by me.
My main concern was because Lovie said he was expecting good things from Davis because it will be his 2nd year in the system.

I was hoping that was a Freudian coach speak slip up.

Fortunately, games under his belt is bound to have increased his potentials somewhat universally..........especially his ability to read defenses. Much of that should be independent of the change in offensive scheme. An additional positive is that the scheme will be simpler, and one similar to which he has already been exposed to in college.

I think we all saw his progress toward the end of the season.
He had plenty of national pundits noticing also.

I still wish Lovie didn’t say “second year in system”

My concern has nothing to do with Mills.

It didn’t make sense to keep Kelly last season & running that putrid system.

But the Texans often do things that don’t make sense.

So it worried me when Lovie said “second year in system”

That got them 4 wins last season.

Last year the said they canceled mini-camp because they had such good turnout for OTAs. Let’s see if they’re still thinking that way this season.
Aren't the OTAs good for the rooks?
I imagine that a several choice picks at or above 64ish should have the coaches keen to try out their new steeds.
Plus a bevy of ones below that.
They only had a handful last go round.

What rooks? They haven't had the draft yet, have they?

With some legitimate coaches in place this year (even with them not present in some privately organized player practices like these), the added basic experience (because that is all these get togethers are........not scheme-driven) with the ball in hand is unlikely to hurt........and could certainly increase familiarity and comfort level between the involved players. It is not intended to have a great effect on the final season record............but to prepare them for when the coaches enter and stay in the picture.............something that does affect that record.

Green would be a solid addition at the right price. Only 24 years old coming off his first season as a full time starter in Seattle. Versatile player who kicked inside to DT and even played some LB for them. 6.5 sacks last season. Former 3rd round pick who’s best football is yet to come.

At a surprise luncheon for John McClain the Texans unveiled a wall of media Fame honoring him. I think that was a very classy thing for the Texans to do.

Texans 'In Mix' to Trade for QBs Jimmy Garoppolo and Baker Mayfield?
Times change, and according to one report, times are about to change at the QB position for the Houston Texans.
*****************************************************************************************

SMH.............the Texans are not going to take on Garopolo's $28 mil salary. As far as Mayfield, his head is not in the game..........it's buried in his concentration on marketing of himself............and add in his known quick temper, he is likely to introduce negative into any team he finally ends up on, even if the Browns agree to pay some of his 2022 $18 mil guaranteed salary.

Damien Pearce has infectious enthusiasm.
He's going to be easy to root for. He has a great personality and one well suited for a running back imo.

In the video it was mentioned by one of the draftees that the Texans were bringing in high energy guys. That might factor into why some players were selected instead of others that some of us wanted or predicted to be drafted
