Board for the last year: Get rid of Watson! I hate that guy! I can't wait for him to be gone! I don't ever want to talk about him again! He can't be gone soon enough! Good riddance forever is alls I got to say when that bum is finally shipped out! Won't be soon enough! I never even want to say his name again!
WATSON TRADED TO CLEVELAND

Board: Hey, where the heck did that Watson thread go!? Dang thunderkyss moved it! I wasn't done talking about Watson yet!

So you have never watch a Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby production since the light has shined on their transgressions?

No. And it’s been very easy.

Meh, Cleveland is where QB careers go to die. Ironically I was reading an article, don’t feel like searching for it, that the number one Browns women fan group were mad that Browns pursued him in the first place and glad they were out of the running.

As far as the return goes the big point of always the 3 first round picks. Anything beyond that was hopeful but it was the 3 firsts that were the deal breaker as far as Texans go. Looking at the situation I honestly think Texans got the best deal they could because at the end of the day Watson being able to say “I want this team only” tied their hands.

I suspect that after this we are going to see major changes to how NTCs work and I don’t think the NFL is done getting their pound of flesh. Anyway the lying, perverted POS is gone and we came out of it with something. It’s not a complete win but at least he’s someone else’s problem now.

Good riddance and hope you never win another game again Watson.

I believe this is the article to which you were referring. As this was published just prior to the announcement of Watson to Cleveland, their relief was short-lived.

Russell Wilson had a NTC got two 1sts & two 2nds

if the Texans could have got just Cleveland’s 2022 2nd, that would have been a deal

But Russ wasn’t asking for a new contract. I bet he’s feeling sheepish now. Probably be calling Mullegetha in the morning

Wilson has won a Super Bowl, failed to win another, and has superior character.

Watson has only won a decision to not get indicted and is alleged sexual assaulted.

Does age balance those things out or tilt the scales?

Exactly, I think the long term fall out from this for the entire NFL remains to be seen. I also think Browns just became the most hated team inside the owners club and they will make them pay for that. Watson weaponized his NTC in a way no player ever has and had more off field baggage than just about any player being traded as well.

Overall this was a get what you can and get out type of situation.

At the end of the day, this proves how much David Mulugeta has been a puppet master who orchestrated much of the chaos of the past 15 months. If he was interested in what's best for his client, I don't know if going to Cleveland who has never had a 4000 yard passer, having to play outdoors in a tough AFC North in outdoor stadiums in Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Baltimore then having to go through Mahomes, Allen, and Hebert, to get to a Super Bowl, is in his client's best interest. Tom Brady is the GOAT, but people rarely mention he played in a very weak AFC East division and feasted on the Bills, Jets and Dolphins.

Mulugeta orchestrated the largest guaranteed money contract in NFL history, took advantage of BOB and Easterby, poked the NFL and exposed the NFL hypocrisy on their player's conduct and reminded everyone about what they hate about professional sports. He earned his commission and increased his reputation. However, time will tell if this was the best move for his client.

In 3-4 years, I expect another drama filled offseason for the Browns. Other NFL owners should be mad at the Browns for the guaranteed money they just gave Watson.

By far the dumbest trade in NFL history. Lol we only got one pick from them this year. What in the bleep.

Sorry to say bud.. doesn't even come close to touching the dumbest trade in Texans history (Hopkins) 😔

I'm going to reserve judgement on this deal given the conditions the team was working under (Bullshit NTC that never should've been given + all the bullshit legal matters Watson caused) and I'm also going to see what we land with the picks we acquired.

..Just so glad this piece of 💩 is no longer playing for my team, Good riddance.

Love him or hate him.....well played mulugeta. Now off to the draft section and see what's possible with our first two picks

When have they ever had a qb of his caliber? Bernie?

And another basher. We both know you are the bashiest of bashers. You didn't want him here to start with and you've been consistent in being the world's largest DW4 critic. Did he steal your girlfriend or something?
Most importantly I was right.

You just seem to gloss over that.

For those who are still thinking we didn't get enough in return, you may take solace in the fact that this is only the 2nd time in NFL history that player was traded in return for 3 first round picks.............the only other was the Herschel Walker trade.............33 years ago..........in 1989.

Yep and with the immaturity concerns with Watson I’m just ecstatic with what we got. Great job Texans

I was curious about what the Texans originally gave up for Watson in 2017. They handed off Brock Osweiler and his bad contract, the 2017 1st round pick (#25), and the 2018 first round pick.

Now, 5 years later, the Texans got a return on their investment. They got rid of Watson and his terrible contract, 3 1st round picks (2022, 2023, 2024), as well as 2023 3rd and a 2024 4th round picks.

Now that is some hella interest for putting up with all of DWs crap.

Well the Browns are praised by some for getting Watson. However, it seems media like Sports Illiterated feel they will never live down the trade. That they sold their soul to try to win. That Watson made it seem like the charges were just annoying to him and nothing more. Glad he is gone, good read here about the Browns.

Watch the video included in this article. It reflects much of what I'm hearing.

A look at Deshaun Watson's legal situation as he joins Cleveland Browns. Can he be suspended by NFL?
While a grand jury declined to criminally charge Watson for sexual assault and harassment, his legal problems seem far from resolved.

As well they should be. 22 counts isn't just small potatoes. At least it is not going to be our issue very soon

I didn’t see if this said the suspension would have to be in 2022? Can the league put it off since he structured his contract to avoid a monetary loss?

This is a scenario I brought up earlier, since his move otherwise will have created a mockery of the NFL punishment system. I doubt that it has gone unnoticed by not only Goodell but also the NFL owners............neither of which are very tolerant of egg on their faces. I believe the unforeseen consequences for Watson, and probably the Browns, is far from over.
