DW4 Traded to Cleveland

It sure seems like if you ask and recieve a NTC in your contract, and then YOU demand a trade, seems like by asking for that trade that you have recinded the NTC in your contract and all teams would be fair game.
Thats just me though...
Really? Why? He asked for and received control over future destinations in any trade regardless of whom was initiating the trade. The TC does not say that he cannot be traded. It does not say that he cannot ask to be traded so what's the big deal? He was smart enough to ask for it and the GM at the time was silly enough to give it to him. To be fair no one at the time thought that he would be going anywhere and that he would be the starting quarterback for the Texans for the length of that contract.

The team and Watson agreed in writing that either side can request a trade, Watson has right to negate or agree to it. If any of us were in his shoes at the moment of the signing of the agreement we would have signed it also. Why blame DW for doing what he thinks is best for him. It's the nature of the business right?

Curious about these meetings, wouldn't the Texans have someone present in the session? Could the Texans cut the meetings short if they wanted? (Dw is under contract so without our consent - including ON-GOING consent- it would be tampering?)

Just by saying it in public tells you he is a nut case. He didn't say "input," he said he would allow him to choose the next coach if he chose the Panthers.
I thought that tweet had been taken down as fallacious? Did I miss something? Perhaps I'm reading something out of context here as it seems to be you're referring to the tweet that would allow Watson to choose the next head coach of Panthers. I am waiting correction.

I'm just going by the wording of the clause....NO TRADE CLAUSE. to me that means that he can't be traded. I'm sure I'm wrong on my understanding of this But either way, if he instigates the trade request, just seems like the team should have some protection. Why does he get all of the benefit? He's the one that Broke...? the NTC.

You're right, the contract could've been written that way, but it was not.

Texans' fans need to prepare themselves for the probability that Caserio/Kirby Boardroom is going to screw this up. TIA.

He asked the Texans which is what I was referring to. And now that you bring it up - I wouldn’t put it past him to want to do it again.

Yeah but.. and let's not debate this all over again but as Texian says just above this is all at the feet of Cal who apologized for allowing DW and/or his camp to believe that McNair was going to allow that. I DO NOT want any player choosing HC or GM. Having that said if I were that QB and thought I would be given the opportunity, I would take advantage. Wouldn't you?

The tweet was deleted, but never let a good narrative go silently in the night. It's funny. We've spent 15 months bashing the media for their constant trade speculations and now they are immediately credible when they post something that fuels the smoldering disdain we are feeling for Watson. Funny stuff.

Again, it does not say he cannot be traded and either side can instigate a trade.. he just has power to sign off on trade partner and that is what we are seeing now.

This may be Caserio not wanting DW4 playing in the AFC. If so it's a dumb move and not in the best interest of the Texans. Jets could offer the Texans the best package and the most value for DW4.
It could be that as you say but I think it is simply negotiating by both sides. The danger as I see it of NYJ or any team bringing a low initial offer (in other circumstances I would do same) Caserio may think they are jerking his chain and trying to do "Hopkins" trade OR and more likely, Nick could be given a huge acceptable offer by say Carolina but with caveat he cannot shop the deal.

Nick should have told all teams put your best offer on table and I will choose one. If he liked one or two he could ask them to sweeten package. The timing for this is perfect IMO.

He doesnt want to be roasted by all of the national womans groups that are usually based in the big markets. He wants to stay as under the radar as he can.
You can’t get a filthier trashier, more corrupt dump than the chocolate city that crapped on Houston before. Oh I hope he goes to that **** hole.

No, what is implied is that this, as it turned out, was previously unheard of and unanticipated. Yes, as written, you are correct, but certainly not what was intended. The intent of the NTC was to give Watson a say in any trade initiated by the Texans.. You can bet your last dollar you will never see a contract like this again.

Now, let's throw in a little conspiracy. A comment was haphazardly thrown out on 610 today, but not discussed, that there were indications that Watson's discontent with the Texans began prior to his signing the new contract. I think that this gives Watson some smarts he doesn't seem to have. But...?

My frustration comes from what you say but also I was dissed for posting "info" to be read and discussed if not accepted or believed. Later those same folks begin posting everything they had complained I was posting. People demanded that Watson would not be traded and no team wanted a sexual predator or deviate as if their belief would somehow make Billionaire owners change their minds. It was not supposed to be accepted as their opinion but FACT. All through the other thread we were told what would happen and it didn't. Two posters IIRC said 'some have egg on their face'. Others just said they were correct and the system failed or the DA a female was corrupt. I'm going to try to move on.
smiley face

If true, dammmmmn have the Jets management team already given up on zach wilson?
Have you followed his play? Stats are extremely misleading although bad. Too much dead cap $ to trade him but he needs to take huge step forward if he remains starter. No it's not all his fault but more than enough was.

you are not saying that NTC in NFL were unheard of? Other players have them including Russell Wilson. Any who I don't want to spend time on all this which hopefully will soon be in our rear view mirror.

or! This is the file clerk taking charge and and picking the best offers and telling Watson, here, this is who you have to choose from.

I think you need to prepare yourself for casserole to establish himself as a dam good GM with the handling of this complete **** show he took over. Well at least I hope you will. I have my doubts too But if he pulls this off, it will be impressive considering.

Deshaun Watson trade suitors now focused on his next deposition and possible NFL suspension

NFL teams preparing for a potential trade pursuit of Deshaun Watson are now focusing on two key aspects of his future, following Friday’s decision by a grand jury to pass on indicting the Houston Texans quarterback on sexual assault allegations.

First, multiple teams considering a trade for Watson told Yahoo Sports that Tuesday’s deposition in the quarterback’s civil litigation will be a pivotal moment, because Watson is expected to give it without invoking his Fifth Amendment right to refuse to testify against himself. In his previous deposition, which was taken on Friday, Watson’s attorney Rusty Hardin advised him to decline answering questions by invoking the Fifth. Watson is currently facing 22 civil suits alleging a range of sexual misconduct or sexual assault.

Hardin previously told Yahoo Sports that Watson would continue to invoke his Fifth Amendment right in depositions until grand jury proceedings — which were tied to criminal complaints against the quarterback — had been settled. Now that the grand jury process has been completed without an indictment, teams expect Watson to answer questions under oath for the first time on Tuesday. That deposition won’t be public, but NFL teams and league investigators will attempt to gather information on Watson’s testimony as franchises consider a trade pursuit and the NFL continues its investigation into the allegations.

“We want to know what he’s going to say,” one team official told Yahoo Sports. “That’s going to be important for us and I assume probably anyone else who gets involved [in trade talks].”

Of the teams that are vying for a meeting with Watson, the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers are expected to meet with him by the end of this week. Other franchises could still express interest in meeting with Watson in the coming days, including the Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns, among others.

THIS IS NOT HOW THE NTC WORKS.

Well this **** show started about 5 minutes after Easterby's #1 guy, Nick Caserio was announced as Texans GM. So you could say that Caserio is the catalyst and now has to clean up the mess he created.

So thats:

Browns
JETS
Chawks

If he keeps veto'ing teams he may kill the bidding war...

Yeah, but as long as the two teams still in it are divisional rivals the bidding war will still stay hot. At this point They're not only bidding for his service, they're also bidding for who doesn't have to face him 2x a year or have him potentially block their playoff chances for the foreseeable future.

I understand but would feel more comfortable about it with a couple of wildcards...

And you would be wrong. It started when BOB got more power than he could handle. It’s been downhill ever since.

Isn’t the bidding over? I would think that the offers were acceptable before they gave Watson his choices. As in here Deshawn, these are the two teams with acceptable offers. Which one do you choose. At least I hope it’s that way.

This article implies that Texas approved the general parameters of a trade before allowing Watson speak directly with the Saints and Panthers. whether that is accurate or not, I don't really know.

If the deposition is not public, can only Watson release it to whom he chooses? With what we have read on MB it seems Saints and Panthers are not too concerned about either Suspension or civil proceedings.

No, not over. Watson reportedly will still be taking meetings tomorrow.

It sounds like that is exactly what you were saying but not important to keep rehashing.
