Head Coach Candidate (Lovie Smith Hired) 2/7/22

If that is the case then they need to lock him down.

Either Gannon is waiting for word on another job, or there are too many conditions with him taking the job. Such as McCown, Hamilton, and Lovie.

That would be my guess.
That would be my guess as well. They're trying to find a slightly more accomplished version of Culley. If they can't find one willing to come here and take the fire for the ownership/front office, well then...

It's there. Look harder.

Man, I live rent free in some peoples head…oh well I guess that’s part of being on the Kool Aid Brigade. I am happier. Better than being filled of doom and gloom and a card holding member of the Chicken Little Peckers group. Always pecking at at the ground thinking the sky is falling.

Lucky - I heard they are going to build the Texans brick by brick. Caserio is a big brick. They want a team with a solid foundation. Not just one and done. They believe you can’t go wrong doing things the right way. They are committed to excellence both on and off the field. They want to bring a championship team to the city of Houston.

I listened 22 minutes. What was I supposed to hear?

I think Carr is a perfect fit for McDaniels offense. This may actually work out for the Raiders.
Carr's day's in Oakland are numbered. Mark my words. Everything will look hunky dory in 2022, & I like Derrick. But he's not tough enough for what McDaniels is bringing. I'd be surprised if he's in Vegas I 2023.

No, they got the Patriots Dave Zielgler as their new GM. Makes a lot of sense as to why McDaniels is the new HC. I think both of them are coming to a team with more upside than questions.
LMAO. So, the Raiders were able to get a former Patriots executive (Ziegler) as their GM and then hired McDaniels without hiring a character coach as a middleman to broker or lure the new GM or HC? Interesting.

They hired McDaniels first. Ziegler is coming as part of the package to build NewMecca in the desert.

Thankfully, we got Jack.

McDaniels had Cutler out the door before he even walked in when he went to DEN.

If there was a Tebow in this draft I'd think Carr would be out now. But the Raiders latched Gruden to Carr, he couldn't shake him. It'll be the same for McDaniels for the first year.

You know it’s funny but Cutler looked like the real deal with Shanahan. What could have been. Who knows.
But yeah, Carr’s probably being privately shopped by McD.

Sure he is. Easterby is how McClown got into the building.
Sorry, my bad,, I thought we were discussing who had responsibility for hiring.

Easterby very well may have been responsible for getting McCown the first interview,, but Caserio must have heard enough to call him back in for the followup interview. The decision who to hire will be Caserio's, after consultation with the McNairs. Easterby may be adding his input, but it will be Caserio's decision.

I never thought that much of Cutler. I thought he was a worse version of Jake Plummer. I loved me some Plummer... ahhh, if we could have got the Snake in H-Town

Well, he had a much bigger arm than The Snake. But yeah, I liked Snake too. Did you know Jake went something like 40-17 with DEN? He was extremely successful yet after that AFCCG vs PIT, Shanahan fell in love with Peyton Manning coaching him at the Pro Bowl and he wanted Cutler. Which makes no sense. But I guess he thought Cutler had the physical aspects of Peyton. Whatever.

You know just asking Luke Fickell for an interview can’t be the worst idea these knuckleheads in the FO ever came up with at this point. It can’t hurt.

Absolutely.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is pipedreaming.

Taylor has coached at numerous pro teams and as the O coordinator at CIN.
To clarify, Zac Taylor was OC at the University of Cincinnati in 2016. Not the Cincinnati Bengals. Taylor was interim OC of the Dolphins in 2015 after HC Joe Philbin and OC Bill Lazor were fired after 4 games.

OK, but the difference between him and McCown is that Taylor had 7 years doing the grind of being a coach. McCown has zero.

Yea. I know. Please don’t confuse my post as an endorsement for McCown.

That’s why I said it’s not an endorsement for anyone. And that’s why I said he was at several places but never an HC.

That should highlight the difference between him and McCown, but bring some similarity between him and Gannon/O’Connel.

I drink the Kool-Aid but stop short of snorting the powder.

I have my limits and self respect.

And that’s why I clarified with his actual resume. The dude did his time and grew and learned along the way, grinding out seasons for years.
