Texans "Culture"

The Not Texans Worthy Motto was in full force long before Cal took over or Easterby entered the building down on Kirby. Yes the McNair's with Bob McNair in charge was cheap. How many premium FA's have the McNair's signed in 20 yrs? Jo Jo/Manning and debatable Os. The Os signing was nothing more than a reactionary signing.
Not Texans Worthy didn't stop any player from coming to Houston & no one was ever cut because they were not worthy.

Again, I don't know why the Texans didn't bring in top FAs, but it wasn't a money issue. The McNair's act like they don't understand the value of a dollar the way they throw money around

Jaleel Cook would disagree with you. So would Swearingen.

Gipson and Hopkins/Clowney would like to talk to you about why they were traded.

Fact is the Texans started throwing $$$$ around to their own guys after BOB took over the GM job. Before that, not so much. The Texans dont add top tier FA's because those guys cost to $$$$ and the Texans have never really spent $$$$ on those type guys. Not saying right now is the time to be spending top $$$$ in the FA market. That time will come in a couple of yrs. Will the McNair's step up to the plate and spend the $$$$ to add a premium FA or 2? History says they wont.

Are you suggesting this team doesn't favor high character religious types?
What do you think of Vincent Taylor's character & religious preferences?

I know they value character. But not more than most teams. More than some, but not more than most.

I doubt religion is a factor.

I agree that they don't. But I'm sure it's not about money. They spend up to the cap almost every year.

You seem to be the one with the religious issue. You are the only one keeping it alive on this board. I read the rules. Religion carries the same status as politics.

Maybe you should take off you visor and read the f'ing room.

Do I think they took a poll and anyone who checked Atheist, they let go or traded? No lol obviously not.

I think you have a room full of people since changes started taking place with Cal and religion plays a major part of their life and seems to be their compass (from decisions that have been made, how openly they discuss things, Easterby's background, disgruntled ex Texans commenting on culture issues). When you surround yourself with the same viewpoint, one that is strong in religion, you can start to let it take over. I do think it clouds their judgment and influences their decisions.

I have said it 1000 times, I appreciate our organization in the past not sticking their necks out on high troubled players. I too value good people. I also feel like we have been patient with players in the past, which people in general deserve. None of this is an issue with me.

Back to the topic at hand, Hines Ward and Joe Lombardi as HC? Why are they even wasting time interviewing those guys?

Again Hopkins forced his way out. He wouldn’t have been traded if he wouldn’t have charged up O’Brien

Clowneygot traded basically the same reason. Disagreement with O’Brien.

Dude that crap was very bad way before the pastor stepped in the building. Started with Kubiak going against the owners word. To the power struggles between Bill O’Brien and Rick Smith. And who in their right mind would give a darn inexperienced HC GM powers?

Why do you think the pastor was hired? They been had off the field issues that needed to clean up. And that was way before this Watson drama and way before the pastor. The crazy thing is none of this was spewed out until Watson’s nonsense. AJ was ticked off because the Pastor was spying on Watson after he learned about the off the field issues. I’m pretty sure they told Watson to clean it up but he continued. That’s why he put out that nasty message about Cal not being loyal.
:toropalm:

I wonder how many times Caserio and McDaniels spent discussing how they would construct a NFL franchise while attending John Carroll University? If they’re sports fans like the rest of us…..I’d suspect many and many days.

If the Texans pull the string on hiring Josh McDaniels, it might be a very good thing for the Texans to finally have a GM and HC who are on the same page.

i could see Nuk doing that….& I could see BoB’s head about to explode with anger after hearing it and subsequently doing everything he could to trade him…
BO'b would have put him in the doghouse before trading him.

I don't think it's a bad thing to value character on a team.

In fact, it's really important to make sure your team isn't filled with low football IQ, selfish, lazy distractions. For both cohesion and, from a fan standpoint, likeability.

Bill O'Brien was a scumbag and his teams reflected that. He marked a change "from* the character of regimes past. And it didn't work out well.

Hines Ward is interesting as another stellar player young in his coaching career. I’d like to see him cutting his teeth for an NFL team rather than Florida Atlantic if considering for HC though… maybe he’ll be an option to bring on the next coaching staff?

Joe Lombardi is interesting as a Sean Payton disciple. I think his offense would mesh well with Mills. It didn’t work out in his first stint as an OC with Lions/Stafford but Chargers/Herbert offense looked good last season.

Thanks for posting. Out of curiousity. Over the years. Has anyone read such a breakdown of the O'Brien/Kelly ED offense and what they are trying to accomplish or was it too complicated for mere mortals to read?

You're upset about a lie you've told yourself.

Unless you've seen this document & first bullet point.

I don't know if Lovie is a religious man. Nothing I've seen suggests it. Same with Kamah Grugier-Hill or Kirksey, or Desmond King, or Tavierre Thomas, or any of the players.
You’re kidding right? Lovie is a FCA guy. There is a lot of FCA on the coaching staff. Culley was a FCA guy. Could be just coincidence eh……

lol say what you want man, but over the past year ex-players are calling out the culture within the doors. Sure they don't give exact details, but it seems like connecting the dots shouldn't be so hard....

Not sure if you have ever made a business plan, but not a single one I have ever seen or been a part of involves how they can incorporate religion into their business decisions....
Whatever culture the McNair and/or Easterby has introduced into the locker room, it is no different from the woke culture corporations are introducing into their companies and forcing onto their employees. This was a big deal in the large international corporation I worked for in the last couple of years before my retirement. You also see this in the NFL with helmet woke slogans and end zone woke slogans and some commercials I've seen on TV.. The backlash against the Texans are part of this.

According to a quote attributed to Albert Einstein.

"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."

So according to Albert Einstein... no matter how you look at it.... Bill OBrien didnt understand it himself.

An excellent point.

Is this true? Hadn't heard this before.
I believe it was posted previously. However, for some reason. The improbable Watson mom scenario overshadowed it as the justification for the trade.

When you think about it. Which one is more likely for BOB to trade Hopkins? Hopkins disrespecting BOB in front of the team or Watson's mother going to Janice about Hopkins' bad influence on her son? :kitten:
