No. Mills has made one poor decision after another. We should definitely know by now he isn’t the one.

I’d start him next week, but if he continues to make bad decisions I’m going back to Taylor. & if he keeps screwing up, I’ll go back to Mills.

Taylor is most likely not my QB for 2022, but neither is Mills

This deep into the season, yes. It's not a knock on Keenum, but Mills throws a better ball than most NFL starters. The question at this point is how Mills processes what he sees while under pressure, which is every snap.

Since training camp I keep reading that Mills has a big arm. As of today, I cannot recall one of his passes that made me go "wow. what an arm".

It's not only his processing, but Mills has made some terrible decisions and throws even when not under pressure. And it's not just when he and the receiver are not on the same page. This kid needs the kind of grooming that does not exist on this team.

Mills is a pure pocket passer who isn't being given a pocket. I think the O-line has to function before we know to move on.

Here's a rough idea of what Mills can look like if given protection and seeing his reads. Goes without saying that highlights can be misleading, but it proves there's a lot to work with. Davis Mills Mid-Season Highlights - YouTube

Valid point that afflicts every GM and coach evaluating a QB. Rex Grossman is another example. This same conversation has been had by every coach concerning great QB's who've had rough starts. I could be totally wrong about Mills, but he has enough upside to take a gamble on.

Mills has neither the big arm nor the accuracy on the deep ball.

He only looks good when throwing deep middle of the field (ie. , the shortest distance from point A to point B on a deep pass).

What the OL does is what the OL does. What Mills does is what Mills does. Throw the ball away. That’s what pocket passers do when it’s not there & the OL can’t do their job.

throw it away without getting flagged for intentional grounding.

never ever throw across your body to the opposite side of the field, especially without establishing your base.

No egg on my face. The whole reason I wanted to see Tyrod was for the development of the rest of the team.

if Tyrod didn’t come back as starter, some of us would be making excuses for the offense because of the rookie.

But since Tyrod came back as the starter & the offense continues to struggle it’s clear the issues are beyond the QB.

Nobody said Tyrod was going to be the savior; most was expecting 3-5 wins in a 17-game season.
But, he definitely is the better bet.

So far, his record as a starter is 2-3.
That should have been 2-2-1 as he was charged with a loss in the Browns game, but the score was actually tied when he left the game.

The Texans are winless with Mills.

Dont mean to be bad, but some of this posters knew was going to happen long ago. Brady/Montana/Elway would struggle behind this OL. Heck, Derrick who some posters used to think was a god around these parts struggled with this level of incompetence. 4 wins gonna be 4 wins best case scenario.

Last year, with a terrible defense that barely created turnovers or flipped field position, the Texans lost at least 7 games by 7 points or less. That took Derrick throwing for 33 TDs and 7 INTS to keep those games close. That performance was criticized as compiling garbage time stats. This year, you are seeing opponents with 30 point leads playing prevent and the Texans can barely throw for 100 yards. I guess it's not so easy to compile garbage time stats.

Without Derrick, the OL is still missing blitz pickups. The running game still sucks. The play calling is still mediocre. They are still not moving the chains. They are still not scoring on their opening drives. They are still not making half time adjustments. I just find it funny that now that QB play is a real concern, we are finally evaluating more than just QB play and recognizing there are bigger issues with this team than just the QB. I guess better late than never.

The QB was and is a loser.

Cully trend line is spiraling downward. He’s losing grip/traction it’s just matter of time. Jacksonville also has a terrible coaching situation but with more talent. That game, Sunday December 19th will be his Alamo. Some may say these games don’t matter, well believe me they matter and loser of this game, Meyer or Culley should be fired (maybe both) regardless. Heck I thought Detroit was the worst team in the NFL. Bad decisions costing games they should’ve won but yesterday they finally did win against playoff bound Vikings. That team hasn’t quit despite winning just that one game. They lost to Bears by two last week, lost to Browns week before by three and tied Steelers week before that.

Would the real McNair please stand up.:logo:

From the fan perspective I can see this building. But I don't believe that's where Caserio is at.

Lovie may actually save Culley's job. It's clearly a problem of offensive production. & Culley is not tied to the offense as our previous HC.

Blaming Kelly wouldn't be throwing him under the bus as it was in past regimes. Those HC were the real OCs.

But we may be in a situation where Caserio knew to expect Kelly to be "figuring out" what the offense was going to be. & is grading him on a different scale than we are.

Culley is not absolved from his shortcoming though.
 
i was at the game some of yall need to realise how this season was going to go so im not surprised

lets just hope Detriot wins more and we secure that #1 either way here is looking to the draft


and hey maybe something odd happens and watson comes on back wouldnt that be different ..????
