A couple of weeks ago, the broadcaster mentioned how impressed Culley was with Kelly and the work he did with the passing game in 2020. They failed to mentioned that passing game has always been built around the off schedule plays of a top 5 QB.

At this point, I would not be surprised to see them fire Kelly at the bye week. Seeing Culley and Pep have spent significant time with the WCO, I think they should hire someone from the Shanny/Kubiak WCO tree. The question remains. Why would any young OC candidate join this dumpster fire.

Do you think Daboll will land a HC job?

we can bring him in as OC/asst HC. Then work onphasing Culley out
Of note is that Daboll has ties to the Caserio/Easterby FO bloc.

He was in NE from 2000-06 and again from 2013-16 in a variety of asst positions.

Caserio arrived in NE in 2002 until last year, Easterby in 2013 to 2018.

Lots of overlap there and possibly some shared vision/trust.

Hard to pinpoint a good OC unless you grab a recently fired HC who has had success as an OC or you pluck an up and coming coach from the college ranks like the Panthers did with their OC (though their results are subpar without CMC).

Daboll interviewed for Jets/Chargers HC jobs this past offseason. Its likely he’ll get a HC job this offseason. No reason for Bills to grant an interview for Daboll to take anything other than a HC job.

I'm not suggesting they/he should..

Sadly the most likely candidate for an OC job outside of Pep being promoted internally that I can see is…. Matt Nagy

Culley and Nagy worked together under Andy Reid for Eagles/Chiefs. Nagy at least has some playcalling experience as OC with Chiefs which helped him get the Bears job. But pretty safe to say based on results with Bears that Reid had a lot of say in the gameplanning and probably veto power on playcalling when Nagy was OC.

That's true. Yet they didn't interview him for HC. I doubt he comes here to be an OC. However, once Bo Porter David Culley is fired, he might be their HC candidate.

Right, I think he's a HC candidate only as well.

And I think they intended to continue tearing down this year with a Bo Porter-type before handing things over to someone else later, hence no interview for a Daboll-type candidate. Whether next year is too soon who knows.

When’s his deal up with Buffalo?

I’m sure he’ll be looked at for HC gigs can’t imagine him passing a HC job to be the Texans OC.

What happened to the Cowboys offense today against Denver? I understand they got a butt whipping.
I don't know. Cowboys went into that game ranked 3rd and averaging 32.1 points per game. I guess they found themselves in a similar situation to the Bills and their #1 offense that was averaging 32.7 points a game and could only score six points against that terrible Jags defense.

That was another stunner for me but it moved a competitor out of high draft pick. Now if we could just convince Detroit to beat a couple of teams ...

Not sure what self respecting OC would sign up with a dumpster fire that has a 3 to 4 year bassackward plan to get the fire under control and whose HC could be gone after this year or next.
I’m tired of these self respecting guys. I want someone who don’t give a fuh. Like a Jim Harbaugh, or an offensive Rex Ryan.

I want Brady or Daboll for HC, but since this is just for OC I’d say Mike Kafka from KC. Passing game Coordinator so OC would be a move up and he’s blocked by Bienemy in KC since I think he’s taking over for Reid when he steps down.

Somebody will take the job.

If Caserio's smart and say he wants to hire Daboll in 2 yrs then he will hire a guy like the Bills WR coach to be OC. That way the offense will have a head start on learning the terminology and taking the offense for a test drive.

My 2 cents…..Kelly should be BOI’d during the Bye Week. Pep Hamilton should be elevated to interim OC to finish the season.

At season end….clean the table. Shite-can the entire coaching staff since 2022 will be the official start date for the rebuild.

I think the Texans should make a b-line to Dallas OC, Kellen Moore. I’d like to see someone as innovative and young as Moore to lead the rebuild and youth movement that will begin in earnest come 2022. This would represent a culture change that has the potential to stick. He could be another Sean McVay which wouldn’t be a bad thing for the Texans and Caserio. I could also see Caserio and Moore making a solid team.

You're assuming they would be interested in the job. Odds are there will be much more attractive jobs that will go to the better OC. My bet would be to look for some recycled Patriots coach.

So if Kelly's fired, you're saying Adam Gase or Nagy etc... Wouldn't take the job?

I'm guessing McDaniels or Pep get promoted if that's the case.

I'm saying there will be other OC jobs that will become available that Gase and Nagy would want.

I think you need to think of the next OC hire in much the same way and manner the last HC (Culley) was hired.

Kellen Moore is an interesting HC prospect. As much as I hate to admit it. He has done a good job with that Dallas offense.
True. But that offense is LOADED with talent, everywhere! The Texans have JUCO level talent on O.

everyone drops a turd every year. Example, yesterday was a weird day.
Bills score 6 and lose to the Jags
Browns curb stomp the Bengals
Titans kill the Rams
The Chiefs still look like the anti Chiefs on O
Giants beat the Raiders
Pats beat a mud hole in the Panthers

I think the Cowboys were slurping up the hype all the media has been throwing on them. They will be better, just like the Rams will be.

Exactly. That’s why I don’t think you can judge any coordinator off of one game or one season. Track record means everything. I’d rather have a coordinator from a consistent winning team than a Super Bowl winning coordinator that misses the postseason the next 2 years.

Texans have the draft coming up and I'm sure they'll be adding additional players via UDFA and PS signings. Hopefully they stay young while going thru the process of rebuilding this team. I'd like a young and hungry HC who may have an upper-hand in communicating with a young team. I don't think the Texans players would have an issue playing for Kellen Moore based on his success with Dallas.

Unless this Culture crap is changed, Easterby is gone and fresh young football minds brought in, Houston will be a mercenary destination where players come to make money before leaving elsewhere for a Championship.

Why should Easterby matter one whit to the players?

I can't imagine a new rising Head Coach candidate (Kellen Moore) wanting to take a chance at what could be their only opportunity to be head coach with the Game Boy, Preacher Man and the File Clerk.

Because, according to Britt, and so many others, along with Culley, Casserio, and Front Office .... Easterby holds dominion over the players .... and I don't think Easterby has been biopsied yet. Answer to next question .... No, I have no proof, but, where there is so much smoke, there is more than a remote chance that Easterby, and his Culture, are nefarious by nature ! I don't think it's coincidence, that so many young athletes, who love to play sports and be happy, are distrustful of the secretive little man behind the curtain .... the one we're not supposed to pay attention to !

To me, that name is magical. Anyone watch the Rams last night ? They lost to a brutally physical Titans team. Titans look like the Cowboys of 3 years ago. To be successful in a Man/Gap offense, you must have a huge, all-star offensive line. They tend to be massive, dominating specimens who, can/do use their physical attributes to crush their counterparts. However they are rare and very expensive. Playing that hard, they tend to be seem injury-prone .... but at their price, it's touph to keep backups of similar talent. Everytime I catch a glimpse of the Rams, I forget where I was going .... have to stay and watch a better version of what we were during Kubiak's glory years .... a well-oiled machine ! We're back to the man blocking scheme, and we can't stay healthy up front .... just like Dallas. I love watching the Rams .... so efficient ! I'm all for anyone who employs Sean McVay's sewing machine system !
