Texans random thought of the day

At the end of his brief remarks, according to two witnesses who asked to remain anonymous, McNair – whose family has owned the Texans since they were founded in 1999 – told the crowd, “I’m sorry that we couldn’t get together last year, because of the China Virus.”
As McNair and his wife, Hannah, looked on smirking, some audience members were stunned by the reference to the COVID-19 virus, which had forced the 2020 tournament’s cancellation.
“Everyone gasped,” one witness said, “especially the people directly across from him. He and Hannah seemed to think it was hilarious. It was dead silent.”

Gasping at the truth

I guess in the McNair's world those people cant handle the truth.

We live in a totally different world to the point of not being able to joke around about certain things. The Asian community believes they’re being racially targeted. So Cal should know he can not say what he said. The media is about to eat him and the Texans apart. They will bring up again what the late McNair said as well. Then they will spin it in the favor of Watson, basically saying that’s why he wants out.

The Asian community HAS been racially targeted across the country because of coronavirus by racist idiots, they didn't think it up. Someone in Cal's position should know better, but we know better that he doesn't.

That said, I don't consider what he said a racist slur, rather an insensitive and ignorant comment.

Well then China shouldn't be releasing a plague on the world. The disease started in China, so therefore it's the China virus. Why did they call the Spanish Flu the Spanish Flu?

Agreed the media will do exactly what you're saying they will do. But who really gives 2 craps about what the media says today. They're evil. Live life and laugh alot is my theory. Dont worry about what others opinions of you might be. Life is to short to live any other way.

Maybe it'll be to your surprise, but it wasn't because it originated in Spain.

The problem with calling it the China virus is because there are too many idiots who mistake that with blaming every Asian person for it. You should be smarter than that.

This isn't about being smart.

It's about telling the truth, if for histories sake if nothing else.

I hope Cal doesn’t come out & say the Texans will win the Super Bowl this year. People are going to lose their minds, sell their kids & what not for tickets.

Mods is the thread a Texans random thought thread or Texans injury thread? I’m confused because the title of thread says random thought not injury.

Mods are getting drunk waiting for the Astros game, as am I. I have nothing to add anymore other than I'm not surprised one of the McNairs would say something like that, and I can't wait until they sell the team and go live their billionaire lifestyle.

Why couldn't you have joined me in 2010 when I said this. Instead there were many (Cak) that said the McNair's were hands off owners. LMAO, the only hope is Cal's so lazy that he will truly let Caserio run the team without interference.

Barnum would be proud.

Someday maybe some (Not you) will listen.

I didn't pay that much attention to the owners back then, plus I don't remember you specifically, but I think people who complained about them complained that they were cheap, which I disagreed with. But yeah, I'm definitely done with Cal.

Based on all of the transactions that have happened only months after Bob's passing I think this pretty much is the case now. With one major exception, I still believe that Easterby has Cal's ear more so than others and is Cal's primary keeper and puppet master. As long as Caserio meets and performs to Easterby's expectations I don't think Nick has anything to worry about. Like Rick Snmith, Easterby is another Godfather in the making. How about that cafeteria?

If Easterby got Cal to fire BO'b & talked him back into the video game room, I'm down.

He was also instrumental in the firing of Brian Gaines Jun 7, 2019 (for interfering with trades), Chris Olson Jan 20, 2020 (for interfering with contracts), Amy Palcic Nov. 11, 2020 (no longer a cultural fit) and pushing Rootes out the door (wouldn't go along to get along). On the other side he had a hand in O'Brien being promoted to GM Jan 28, 2020 ( a week after Olson demise), Easterby being promoted to VP of Football Operations (in charge of contracts, 1 week after firing Olson), Easterby became interim GM after getting O'Brien fired Oct 5, 2020. Convinced Cal dump all the research and interviews to hire Nick Caserio Jan 6, 2021. You still down with all of this?

Gaine was fired for HR reasons

Palcic (Who was very good at her job and I wouldn't have fired her) was about as culturally different from the McNairs as possible. Wonder if Rootes was the guy that hired Palcic? That would explain why he left. I dont understand the Olson firing and believe he either Easterby or BOB was behind that firing. Cal promoted BOB while waiting on Caserio to become available. Watt went to mamma McNair about BOB and the rest is history. Do you think Easterby had something to do with the BOB firing? I think this quite possibly happened in conjunction with Watt. But everybody should be happy because they got what they wanted, BOB fired, so is that a bad thing?

Gaine was fired for HR reasons
Hogwash he was cleared of any wrong doings. Gaine was fired because he wouldn't approve the Tunsil trade, plain and simple. Follow the timeline. Gaine proved to be right. Olson was fired because he would not approve the contracts O'Brien and Easterby wanted to do. Olson proved to be right. Palcic was fired for campaigning for Biden. Cal wasn't waiting on the File Clerk, he had gone through a research firm who did not recommend the File Clerk and also formed two different committees to help search for a new GM. It wasn't until Easterby went to Game Boy's house and convinced Game Boy that had to go to Boston ASAP or lose a chance to hire the File Clerk. That's when the File Clerk became relevant. The file Clerk was hired less than 24 hours later due to a case of FOMO along with highest recommendations by Jack Easterby and Bill O'Brien.

I don’t think Gaine was fired for not approving any trade. McNair tells him what to approve & not to approve. Most likely he used the word “idiot” & “dumb mother” too many times when voicing his objections. Same thing with Olsen.

Failing to do one’s job is acceptable on Kirby. So is doing your job poorly.

But language, they’re only going to allow so much.

Also, the agent for both Nick & Jack convinced Kyle that the Culture Club were heading to Carolina in a package deal. Which was total BS.

Gaine was fired in June 2019 and Tunsil trade happened in August 2019. Gaine wanted nothing to do with Easterby O'Brien Tom Foolery and was fired because of it.

I have it on good authority Gaine was fired for HR reasons.

Agreed about Olson

Correct about Palcic, while I disagree with the firing, Cal had every right to employee who he wants to employee.

Cal got the guy that he was threatened with tampering charges the yr before as his GM. I dont think this is a coincidence. You do and that's fine, agree to disagree. But atleast Cal got his guy. I'm glad after the BOB/Porn Fairy experience I'm glad BOB went back to his original GM candidate.

This seems like the most logical and simplest of explanations. #Occamsrazor

But instead, like the little weasels they are, the Texans owner/management hides behind empty, clouded platitudes like "HR" and "culture", which are nothing but paper tigers when used as empty rhetoric to hide the truth.

O'Brien was an egomaniac and was most likely dominating the front office, which probably scared Cal. It was only when he could have Easterby to hide behind could he deal with Billy.

Then Jack started the purge, one that would eject any voice that could undermine his growing shadow power within the organization. That's when they got ride of Palcic (who's politics never seemed to bother Bob McNair) and Rootes. Now Jack's got a powerful position as VP of football operations, can whisper sweet nothings directly into Cal's ears, and has minions like Dylan Thompson to keep an eye on things as so-called "character coach".

There's always the possibility that the McNair(s) - either Cal or Janice or maybe both) want people to think that Gaine was fired for HR reason.
I don't think it's too difficult to hand out an "executive order" of that sort while keeping things close to the vest such that the real reason doesn't leak to your source.

Easterby was heavily involved in the tampering charges. The fact that Gaines was fired the day after the Patriots ring ceremony where Easterby talked to Caserio is just too much of a coincidence to ignore.

Another suspicious thing is that Easterby & Caserio both have the same agent. Personally I see Easterby's fingerprints all over Gaines getting fired.

Easterby was hired to bring in Caserio as GM and cleanup the mess that was/is the Texans org. Caserio just got started cleaning up the mess a yr later than Cal wanted him too. Cal's paying the price for not giving up the 1st rd pick (Howard) to get Caserio here before the house of cards all came tumbling down.

This is revisionist history and it doesn't make sense. Easterby contributed to this mess. If Caserio was such a hot GM candidate, why does he need Easterby to be his hype man? If this was such a mess, why would a hot GM candidate come here to clean it up? I just cannot buy this PR worthy spin.
