Derrick ain't giving up his $$$$, and is signing a contract in bad faith grounds for voiding it according to the rules of the NFL and the CBA?I'd say it was signed in bad faith. He has no intention of playing for this team.
How do you prove that he had no intention of playing for the team when he signed the contract?I'd say it was signed in bad faith. He has no intention of playing for this team.
I’d hire a lawyerHow do you prove that he had no intention of playing for the team when he signed the contract?
Well sure but the attorney still has to prove intent at the time of signing, correct? I don't see how you can do that. Perhaps the legal experts can opine.I’d hire a lawyer

Refusal to render services.
Texans need to suit him up and insert him as the QB1 at some point to make this viable…..right?
If it were that simple - Yes.
But it isn't - the legal issues complicate matters. Watson is Toxic.
But lets be honest here , does the team really want to void that contract and lose control of him should his legal issues resolve themselves ? What he fetches on a 4 year contract Vs what he fetches on the franchise tender are worlds apart.
That’s why I don’t understand why they’re paying him $10M not to play now. If they trade him before next season starts, then it doesn’t matter, of course, but if none of this legal stuff is resolved by then, then what?Let’s say his legal situation rolls into 2022 NFL season and suddenly the Texans are facing the fact they’re going to give him 35M guaranteed to sit. Throw in Goodell sitting on his hands and just letting the Texans take a beating. Anyone want to bet that Watson wouldn’t be on time for camp to ensure his new paydays begin on time?

What does your gut tell you about this "resolution"?
What are the odds you'll be on the hook for $40M for someone that you can't play & can't trade?
Isn’t that what’s going on now anyway? The Texans are forced to pay him to sit. Should they force him to play Goodell supposedly will slap the Texans with Watson on the CEL. So, the Texans lose no matter what. Kinda ridiculous that a player has all this power over the franchise.Let’s say his legal situation rolls into 2022 NFL season and suddenly the Texans are facing the fact they’re going to give him 35M guaranteed to sit. I wouldn't void it, just suspend w/o pay.If it were that simple - Yes.

I don’t believe this is correct. Unless the McNair’s have pissed off the entire league with their recent conduct (which I don’t believe they have, I believe they are well entrenched in owners’ club).Isn’t that what’s going on now anyway? I believe this is the McNair’s have taken drastic measures to right the ship on the Watson deal, they got rid of Hopkins at huge expense to the franchise, in an attempt to get Watson to straighten out.
Watson has thrown this back in their face, and disrespected them, not least of all when you consider that he signed his huge contract, the richest the Texans have ever written, during this timeline.
I think the McNair’s don’t want him suiting up for them, which is folly.
He should have been told he is QB1 and that he plays if he wants to get paid.
This would have forced him to **** or get off the pot. The Texans couldn’t lose any more face than they have done, and the team couldn’t play any worse than they are doing either. Should have met this head on instead of ***** footing around.
Apparently Watson is still working out in the building. You have a half decent backup QB on the sidelines injured and a rookie with like a dozen career games since high school clearly not yet ready. This is a farce and it isn’t Goodell’s fault.
Should have traded Watson on his 5th year option. They clearly knew his character wasn’t good and it’s obvious with hindsight (and clearly obvious first hand to the organisation) that this was affecting his performances.
Man this organization was doomed from the start. And every owner is all about the money first.Yep, the reason the franchise is screwed up is
1. Derrick
2. RS drafted Derrick
3. Cal chose $$$$ instead of trading Derrick before signing him to that big contract.
It isn't face...............Watson: "During my first practice, I developed a boo boo in my back.........I can't play now, it's much too painful...........thank you for your concern though, but don't worry; I will still somehow, as difficult as it may be on me, find some way to make it every month to the office to pick up my checks........."I think the McNair’s don’t want him suiting up for them, which is folly.

If that's the case couldn't they IR him and use the roster spot. Either way he is still getting his money. It isn't face...............Watson: "During my first practice, I developed a boo boo in my back.........I can't play now, it's much too painful...........thank you for your concern though, but don't worry; I will still somehow, as difficult as it may be on me, find some way to make it every month to the office to pick up my checks........."

I’m saying it now, so you won’t be surprised

Yep! Accounting and economics is above the file clerk's pay grade. The file clerk is illiterate when it comes to accounting, economics and the NFL Trade Value Chart. If you like the Roby trade you will love the Watson trade.I’m saying it now, so you won’t be surprised

Possibly. But could you elaborate as to which way and how hard?I’m saying it now, so you won’t be surprised

No reach around. No sweet nothings whispered in NCs ears….Possibly. But could you elaborate as to which way and how hard?

Miami doesn't own their own 1st in the 2022 draft (Eagles have it). But, they do have the Niners 2022 and 2023 1sts. As well as their own 1st in 2023.The inherent problem is that you really don't know the value of MIA's picks until the season is over. And if the NFL lets Watson play in MIA this season, then those draft picks lose value with each win that Watson helps them with. It's like some kind of Chinese mind torture trick.

I figure the Texans ownership is just ready to move on, and I can understand wanting to just get rid of the guy. But I just hope it's a smart deal and not some rush to finalize it without thinking it through.

Word I'm getting is that the Caserio has not come off of the 3 first round part of the deal.I’m saying it now, so you won’t be surprised

I’m thinking we’ll be paying $30M of his 2022 salary & get a 3rd round compensatory pick in 2023

But if they can work out a 3 way trade involving Tua and Miami can get a #1 for Tua, Miami would have 4 #1's ( 2022 & 2023 ). A three way might just be the catalyst to get a deal done.Word I'm getting is that the Caserio has not come off of the 3 first round part of the deal.
That's likely the best deal possible. Don't know why WFT would give up a #1 for Tua, though.I'll take the 49ers 1st and WFT 1st (Trade for Tua) in 2022 and Miami's 2023 1st.
Because the are the WFT.That's likely the best deal possible. Don't know why WFT would give up a #1 for Tua, though.
Nope, I'm all in on getting as many draft picks as one can get. I am partial to getting a 2nd rd pick for 2nd rd value though. Lots of picks are great. It's what the file clerk will do with them that scares the hell out of me.You against a team that needs all of the draft picks it can get spending 7 mil on a 3rd rd pick. Particularly when as of right now cap space doesn't really matter since no quality FA's will be signing with the Texans anyways.

I wonder if you have a vision for how 2022 could have been a successful year with a shot at a title from where NC started?Nope, I'm all in on getting as many draft picks as one can get. I've already seen how the file clerk does in the draft and the trades that he has made. If history repeats itself and the method of operation does not change, then that is exactly what scares the hell of me. No reason not to think that the file clerks performance in RDs 3 thru 7 won't happen in RDs 1 and 2. If it does then maybe you can come to grips and better understand the Nightmare on Kirby.Until we see how Caserio does in the draft, the juries still out on him.
