H-Town

Gambling can be addictive and is a vice for some. The current pantywaist culture would be offended with that name.
If not that than I could see us continue to use a Bull logo but instead of the one we have we could drop the Texans name and replace the current Bulls logo with the old Jacksonville Bulls logo and their colors. We could call ourselves the Bulls or the Toros. I always thought they were one of the coolest looking teams in both the NFL and the USFL as well as the the CFL and college teams.

I like the ideas, but unfortunately, the McNairs have never cared about Houston pro football history and don't give a rat's ass about what would appeal to the average Texans fan.

This is the franchise that Bob built and I doubt they ever change anything about their colors and designs as long as its owned by the McNair family.

I'd rather they bought the rights to the old USFL Gamblers and that became the name, logo and colors.

Not going to happen but it would be cool.

I admit I was a big fan of just about everything USFL.

Texans best change IMHO......Gunmetal Gray Metallic with the Steel Blue and Battle Red. Helmets would be pretty slick in GGM with the Toro logo and pants in GG with the SB and BR stripes.
it’s going on 20 years. That’s long enough imo. Easterby should be putting together design teams & focus groups to have this ready by 2022.

Let the Oilers and the colors rest in peace.
The Tennesee Titans are not going to let it rest in peace.

Especially when there's money to be made.

Why, you can even buy this on the Titans website: We Were the Oilers: The Luv Ya Blue! Era on DVD (I'm seriously thinking about getting this one. . .)

Or maybe you want an Oilers shirt from the Titans website (they offer several different ones, btw)?

Unfortunately, its our memories, but ultimately Tennessee's history. Even "our" great Earl Campbell is now embraced by, and is rooting for, the Titans.

The Texans don't care about anything before 2002.

I see me and my son's Christmas gifts. Thankfully, there's nothing referencing TN on the shirt.

There are some people out there that can get along with their x-wife, those who will always want to see her burning at the stake, and some that want her back.

Others that really don’t care anymore and have moved on to the next life draining, dream crushing woman.

Similar to this ongoing Oilers saga.

That's why I say let it rest in peace. The Titans can do whatever the hell they want with it, and until you posted that, I had no idea it was available. Of course, I'm not seeking it out either. AFAIC that's been dead and buried a long time ago. Fun when it was here, lot of great memories, but like grandma, it's gone. Loved, missed, and will never be the same without, but gone.

I do think the Texans made a big mistake not reaching out to the lost Oilers, Earl, Pastorini, Brazile, etc. and keeping that connection with them and the fans, but they bought into the that's another organization stuff instead of making it about Houston and it's history. Just another blunder in an entire existence of blunders when it comes to the Texans.

And the only reason that stuff is on the Titans website is because they know sentimental Houstonians will still throw plenty of $$$ at it. Ain't nobody in Tennessee buying that stuff. They packed the trucks and abanboned this town, and left us with just our memories. And now as more time passes and those memories start to fade, they're going to sell you all of that old **** to help you remember? **** them!

I purchased a Earl Campbell Jersey for my Father on Father’s Day and a Warren Moons Jersey for myself.
I see that beautiful Earl jersey at Academy every time I go there. I have been so tempted to buy it many times. Sewn on letters and everything.

I still might. I'd wear it to Texans home games with my Texans hard hat that I've worn to over 100 games. I might be jaded, but damn, I still like to wear my costumes. lol

I’d buy that.
don’t care if it’s being shipped from possum holler or directly from the Chinese sweat shop.

But I’m not going to root for the Titans as if they are the Oilers.

I've been saying this about the Texans org since 2010.

I was thinking about your post (as I often do with many of y'all's points), and started thinking about the why of nostalgia.

Part of it is the normal reflection of good times, fun things that brought my family together, and the overall collective memories that we all share about those days.

And then part of me realized that it also comes down to one simple thing: the Luv Ya Blue days are still the best football times this city has ever had, and nothing in two decades of the Texans franchise has given us anything close to rival those memories.

Except perhaps tailgating, but that's 100% fan driven, so I can't give credit to the Texans for that one. But, on the field in the past 20 years, I just don't have anything beyond 19-10 and the first playoff game that really leaves a high water mark, much less gets even close to the Bum Phillips days.
