Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

Personally I am pi$$ed at Watson.
Texans traded up for him in the draft then back up the Brink's truck in a huge contract then he gets mad at the Texans for not choosing the HC he wanted?
And then he has this lawsuit against him?
Pfftttt - he can now climb down off his lofty high horse.

They already are. By claiming he was blackmailed but before requesting a trade he didn’t get a lawyer. He waited 2 months and until after allegations were already out

I did not know this! It seems very unfair. How can you defend yourself on even footing with your accuser if you can't "face" them. By "face" them do you mean they can remain anonymous through and entire civil proceeding?

By the same token most lawyers wouldn’t want to go against Hardin, Buzbee is one of the few that would and enjoy it

Likewise there is no guarantee of this supposed big pay day. As of right now there is no big pay day as they have only sued for the court required minimal. Now will there be, yeah most likely, but there is nothing now or for the foreseeable future.

I can assure you that Buzbee was aware of Watsons' "indiscretions" way before he officially filed his first lawsuit. He had plenty of time to research the "subject." It is very common that the original attorney involved has the most amount of information on the first and subsequent related cases..................in turn, it is logical and very common for victims to seek out the attorney with the greatest amount of background/experience in the these related cases.

Regardless if that is true or not, it does not mean the Texans knew Watson was sexually assaulting women (if he was). Only that Watson liked to party. They might have thought strippers & drugs. And once they verified it wasn’t drugs or prostitutes they let a grown man love his life.

I’ll be the first to admit to not being a lawyer or expert but defamation is very hard to prove and almost impossible if you are a public figure. Even the Duke lacrosse players had most of their counter suits thrown out and was only able to get a settlement from Duke itself and those poor boys were dragged through the mud way worst than Watson has even thought of being.

Doesn’t help that since this is a sexual assault claim the victims of that are usually allowed to stay anonymous more than in most cases.

I'm wondering now if that theory still has merit and is in fact reinforced by this, again if its true. A person getting rejected or not having women throw themselves at him, a person having to realize that no matter what he does it not enough, add in to that getting a pay day that sets you for life at just 25 and yeah I'm starting to see how all these things could change a person or at least bring out the absolute worst and darkest parts of a person. To your point DB I also believe that he has been shielded from and consequences of any actions. The way people have described him was almost a saint. I'm not saying he was a bad kid or anything like that but some of the descriptions were not very realistic either.

Do you think Hopkins being traded was a football move? I dont and I believe that the reason for the Hopkins trade was related to SOME of this crap.

His agent is most likely a “lawyer” & recommended he does nothing. Until they made a counter move, there’s not much they can do.

He could have hired an actual attorney to handle it IF he was being blackmailed or gone to the police. He did neither, he requested a trade. Also smearing the Texans FO. That was most important to him. Kind of interesting, one might think if someone is actually blackmailed they wouldn’t be busy with optics

Not sure what in that referenced the Texans. The guy said he is the marketing manager for Watson, not for the Texans.

I’m going to throw out a couple of thoughts off the top of my head. Understand this is simply my imagination & though some events may be similar to actual persons & events, it’s entirely made up.

Imagine Jane Doe approached Watson with the intent to extort money. He told her to take a hike. He tells his agent/fixer. He is then advised not to react until they find out if she will continue to pursue or if she’ll just forget about it having struck out.

Jane Doe goes to the Texans with her unsubstantiated story & her “manager” again she is told to pound sand.

Texans approach Watson about it, he denies any wrongdoing, & informs his agent/fixer. He is advised to relax not worry about Jane Doe and her “manager.”

Jane Doe pops up with Buzbee filing a civil suit along with four other women. His agent says, “Get a lawyer, a good one.”

I imagine when Jane Doe approached the Texans they sic’d Easterby on him. They most likely advised him to take this seriously & if there was any truth whatsoever he needs to address the situation & not blow it off.

I’m thinking Watson did not appreciate the Texans acting as if there might be a problem when his agent/fixer believed Watson 100% no questions (when the truth is his agent/fixer is only worried about the brand & will advise his “client” to the next payday regardless the reality of the situation.... wormtongue if you will). “They wouldn’t treat you like this in New York”

In my land of make believe I think Watson is wishing he listened to the Texans back then & not his hanger-ons.

I doubt criminal charges will be levied. It’s difficult to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt. Doesn’t sound like police reports were made, rape kits done... do you think there were eye witnesses?

Don’t get me wrong. I believe there’s more truth to what theses women are alleging than what Watson is letting on.

I could see DW4 traded to the Pats. But it will take atleast two 1sts and a 2nd. That's how bad DW4's hurt the Texans franchise by tanking his trade value.

But the whole point was not to win the case but get the identities of his accusers.

Again I’m by no means an expert but you can’t just file a lawsuit against anyone that has said something about you to try and get their identities. Even if he could you really wouldn’t want to because then Buzbee turns around and say that Watson and his team are trying to force victims of a sexual assault to be revealed publicly and open them up to public humiliation and attack. All he has to do is pull up all the Internet comments being made about how these women are this and that and that’s while they are anonymous. No Hardin has to be really careful about how much he pushes to get identities.

If it does go to criminal court then Watson can face his accusers, if it stays civil then having the identities wouldn’t help him much anyway. I think they mainly want the identities so they compare them to the list Watson has given them of ones he’s gone to. That way they know what others might be coming down the pipeline.
