Easterby’s Takeover complete..Watson wants out

I don't see an upside to playing hard ball. Why would the deal we get be any better over time if we make him sit? Timing is an issue also -- I'd rather trade him before the draft to capitalize on picks this year. I still think that we're going to get a lot back in compensation, just not as much as many of the proposals we're seeing here.

Teams get desperate as the season approaches and during the season. And having a 3-time pro bowler and budding star qb up for sale...for some teams, it would be just too good to not go after him with a nice deal...especially if you’re a team on the cusp.

And if the relationship is truky irreparably damaged....well, He played the whole thing as just business and from our standpoint, getting his max value out on the market would be just business too. He put himself in the pickle when he signed the long term deal.

Right, but they're more desperate after the draft than before? Maybe, but you'd then be getting 2022 draft picks which you're not certain where will land vs 2021 picks that have already been slotted and are much more valuable. But yes, I think that you need to be willing to not trade him initially if all offers are piss poor -- I just don't think that will be the case.

Send him away then.

So much for being a leader and winner and a man of character and humble.

If he wants to be a NBAified primadonna little ***** then that's fine by me.

My fault for thinking he was actually what he was billed as.

Go chase whatever dumb thing you're chasing somewhere else, Deshaun. And it doesn't seem to be a ring that you're chasing.

What are you talking about? Deshaun is being praised league wide for having an amazing season, despite this dumpster fire of an organization trading away his biggest weapon and risking injury in meaningless games. He finished Top 5 at his position when he could have mailed it in. THAT is a leader.

We clearly have different definitions of a leader, if you think him wanting a front office committed to winning dis-qualifies everything else he’s done.

getting 2022 draft picks would be fine for me if it means we get good value in return for him. I mean this team was likely not going to be that good with him this year anyway so....plus the teams going after him will likely not be very good and assuming we get close to the value he’s worth, they will probably be gutted for the foreseeable future too.

He would wind up in a situation similar to what he’s already in now with us. A not very good team that can’t really build around him.

I'm taking 2021 slotted picks over uncertain 2022 picks. The Jets #2 is valued at (4) 1sts in the back end of the round (if your trade partner does really well) and (2) mid round 1sts and a high 2nd (if your trade partner does average). I want to be guaranteed to be at the top of the draft -- there's too much risk where those 2022 picks are going to land for me.

What's funny is the same people who want to ignore the SI articles and ignore Andre's tweet are the same folks who want to ignore this is about Cal and Easterby.
At the year end conference call, Watson specifically mentioned organizational leadership, power and culture. Has anything changed to address his concerns? Is it any surprise he wants to leave this mess?

Lets see they hired Caserio and it has been made as clear as possible that he is the final word, they just hired a HC that is so different than OB its hard to believe they have the same job. They look like they are keeping the OC that Watson wanted to keep. So what other changes would Watson have liked to have? If its just about Easterby being there then why didn't he complain about that before signing on the dotted line and if its about Cal being there well he's the owner so......yeah.

Congrats. He's still a little *****.

i just wanna say a few things....

DANGG!!! jack is the undrafted the way he makes power moves hes playing chinesse gungi while the rest are playing candy land lol...i dont even know this guy but u gotta respect his gangsta

anywho what urks me on how watson is acting. i put him in my shoes i hate some of my supervisors and managers and front office but i dont just up and leave ...well for one i dont have that option lol but ya know

watson is kinda overated tho he lost to a cicny backup got blown out by Mitchell and lock okay if he was soooo good can we have gone 8-8 at least not 4-11 if he was so good shouldnt he have took this rag tag of losers on his back and carried the hole team

ooo man this is kinda messed up tho might has well trade him and get it over with

it should be 4 but if the texans take anything less then (3) first and some stuff i would just let watson rot tbo

at this point texans fans

it was king bill but i must of forgot

JESUS jack was above the king might has well embrace jack at this point lol

I would play hardball because you're going to lose the trade big time. If they trade him, it will be from a position of weakness. Everyone knows it now. Jets aren't giving up all those picks when they can minimize you.

jets will give up all the picks well just send jack to "negotiate" he always gets **** done lol

it wont matter once we go ahead and go 0-16 this year our 2022 pick will be #1!!!!

I hope we tank too. I think this is a lot smarter than trying to bring in a Stafford or someone else to try to be competitive. We don't have the cap space to make that kind of overhaul work and we have too many missing pieces.

But we were talking about draft picks that we get back in a trade, not draft picks we get based on our performance. We really need to maximize the trade return to get the rebuild right.

i hope watson enjoys going to a suck ass jets team with no draft chips

Hopefully this time it includes fire.

Not gonna' lie, I hope fans run this franchise out of the city with its tail between its legs. As much as folks hate Bud Adams, HE WAS NEVER THIS STUPID!!

I've got a bunch of Texans merch I'm about to put up for sale, including a nice stained glass logo that I made years ago. I'll keep my military tribute JJ Watt jersey (and my custom jerseys because nobody would buy them), but everything else that I've accumulated over the years will be up for grabs, including all my tailgating gear.

I just can't anymore. Loyalty "just because" is mindless to me. There is no entertainment value in misplacing hope with a terribly run organization that only cares about money and some bizarre cult-of-personality culture BS.

I'll stick around here for the friends I've made and to help ridicule them into eternity, at least until Hookem shuts it all down from disgust.

I don't have much more than t-shirts that have zero value.
I'm seriously thinking about boxing everything up and mailing it to Kirby

Deshaun Watson should say screw the Texans. They are a bottom rung organization and I don’t blame him one bit for wanting to get tf outta town.

I'm wondering if he's serious about the Jets. That would be great for the Texans as they have a lot of capitol. But will they want to hand it over?

But... The Jets is as bottom rung as the Texans. So throwing dueces & going to the Jets... I mean sounds like a Texans thing to do.

I’m probably misrepresenting Watson.

The Texans being a mediocre at best franchise is probably not the reason he wants out. Sounds like he has issues with management that may go beyond the football field.

Im thinking this is not completely football related and there’s some social issues going on in the Texans organization.

So that would explain why he’s ok with going to other bad football teams.

NFL franchises have their own demands. Just ask season ticket holders every February. And I recall the local franchise demanding a billion dollar taxpayer funded stadium just to exist.

I have no sympathy for greedy and stupid sports teams owners that basically extort cities out of public funds to build their little playgrounds.

And yeah, you're right, the Texans aren't going anywhere anytime soon. They will be cellar-dwellers for many years to come if Cal and Jack remain in charge.
I know you're right and the only chance we as fans have is if either Janice changes the top of the organization or the minority owners put some skin in the game. Stop leaking stories out that have the potential to further tarnish the team and speak up for the fans. Make a positive difference.

EDIT: I personally don't know any of the minority owners, I don't know if they can influence anything at the top. But I know a fan uprising has never created a sale of an NFL franchise or forced a change at the tippy-top of the hierarchy, i.e. the CEO.

I'm crosspollinating sports here, but you know what the worst part about this is, when compared directly to the Rockets' situation right now?

The Rockets are headed by a man who seems to be a competent GM, a bright young coach, and an owner, who, despite an overbearing personality and possibly empty pockets, seems to generally allow his managers to MANAGE the organization. There's hope in that rebuild, there are some promising talents on that roster, and there doesn't seem to be an organizational rot.

There's absolutely NONE of that hope with the Texans. The owner is a dipshit whose greatest accomplishment in life is to be the fastest sperm to fertilize an egg belonging to a very rich married couple. The GM... well, the jury's out on Caserio so I won't go there for now. But the organization stands in the shadow of a Nosferatu-looking Jim Jones Rasputin wannabe MFer that seems to be creating a culture more toxic than the surrounding regions of Chernobyl. Even with a great haul in return for Watson, what hope is there that the picks and players obtained won't be mismanaged into the ground?

We suck. I can't bring myself to jump ship for another city or team because I don't really have it in me to cheer for towns/colors that I have no connection to, and I'm not a player stan who follows players and fandoms around the league, like Westbrook whackjobs or Bronsexuals. But I can at least distance myself from this mess and hope the Stros or the Rockets are able to pull it together quick because I think out of the Big 3 in Houston, the Texans are the most likely to perenially suck.

Been bottling up this rant since I saw the news flash in the middle of my earliest client meeting today. F@#k.

No matter how deeply the Texans sink into the muck, I will continue to at least lurk on this board, hoovering and waiting for TexasPenguin to post something so I can dislike the hell out of it. I am that petty.

Just kidding!
Look at the bright side. They have hit bottom. It can only get better...right?

Exactly. That mother trucker is wrong all the time. Can’t stand liste to his arrogant ass. When someone gives themselves a nickname you know they’re full of shot.
McClain always throws softballs like a lot of reporters. It allows them access to the subjects and gives them staying power.

Rock bottom? As in no where else but up right? Well This is the Texans we’re talking about, they’ll probably go sideways before deciding to go up

I don't see any way the Texans get out of this mess for several years and that's only if they play their cards right. Most of us here have followed them since they started and would probably agree. King BO mortgaged the team with his moronic trades trying to get a big win season. He knew that he needed some kind of championship to keep his job besides winning the sisters of the poor AFC South Division. So he gave away the house because he knew it was a 10 alarm fire and was burning hard. He was grabbing at straws. Along comes the next fire: Silver Spoon McNair believes in the Easter Bunny. Now we got a bunch of rookies that none of them have done the job before and we got more holes in the team than a dartboard in a beer joint. I really think we are toast. No way we get a quarterback again capable of winning the Super Bowl for years. This organization is a complete clusterfart and will continue to trip over their own feet. Other than that, the owner is making a bunch of dough so everything is cool and will remain in the same status quo.

I know. I'm pissed off because my PSL's aren't worth schitt now and I don't want to pay all that season ticket dough for a team that doesn't have a chance to win for years. I'll get up off the canvas tomorrow.

Yeah..Me too. They talked me into paying early with free food and I fell for it

You're gonna have to pay someone a lot of money if you want to get rid of those PSLs. You can at least get a tax break if you donate them to Kars for Kids.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. As much as I DO NOT like Easterby. I have seen enough of Watson now to see that he is a me first guy. Which is fine in life, but not in sports. You are always tring to make others better. Look at JJ, he is always looking for ways to help the other players... even offense.
